  1. Personally, I watched it beforehand to ascertain where the best place to position the camera would be based on how much space my pupil would need. I didn’t share anything with her beforehand and when I pressed play on Christopher Powney’s introduction to check everything was working, she put her hands over her ears and shut her eyes, saying “Stop it! I don’t want to cheat!” 🤣 I don’t think they’ll mind how many times it has been viewed so long as it’s obvious it has not been rehearsed. Good luck everyone!
  2. @Bonnie2011Are the RBS leotards still available? What size are they? Is the peach lace one still available? Thank you.
  3. Is the pale pink still available?
  4. Mine is 9 too, going into Year 5 @BellaF I imagine they have a lot of that age so have split them into two groups.
  5. My (female) pupil is also in Group 5. I’ll be being referred to as “Miss Emily”. Do come and say hi! 😊
  6. @Spamcat, pretty much, yes! That’s why part 1 is all about body shape. If they get through that round, then they want to see co-ordination and how they use their feet and turn-out in part 2 and if they get through THAT, they want to see their musicality and ballon.
  7. @SpamcatNo, it’s all on the spot. They have to lie down side on to the camera with their arms and legs extended at one point. That’s the most space they need. Good luck!
  8. I went to her home to do it, with social distancing observed, which was not easy! Her parents both work full-time, have English as a second language, know nothing about ballet and have a 2 year-old so given that I COULD help out, I thought I would! It would have been me taking her to her audition anyway, and we had a lovely time doing it 😊
  9. Well, we filmed my pupil’s audition yesterday! She loved doing it and I thought parts 1 and 2 went well for her. Her improvisation was beautiful, but the end of part 3 was very ropey! Desperately wanted to give her another go but resisted temptation! I strongly suspect that to save time, they will watch part 1 and reject most at that stage based on the body shape they’re looking for (which seems to change with the wind!), then do another cull after part 2 and only watch part 3 if they’re really interested... But that is pure prophecy. No idea when we’re likely to get results so we’re just going to have to try to forget about it. Chukkas everyone, and maybe see some of you at Tring on 5th September?
  10. Gosh, my post letting people know of RB and BRB joiners (information which is in the public domain) and also lamenting the lack of credit given to Erico Montes seems to have been deleted... How bizarre. Anyway, let it be know that I agree that KOH should have given him a much more worthy send-off!
  11. My pupil is auditioning for a London Year 5 place too, though we would be equally happy with Eastleigh. This forum is wonderful, I agree. I don't think I'd have got through the wait last year without having a heart attack otherwise! It is so sad that this year's auditionees won't get the chance to dance in the RBS studios and there is a lot of pressure on parents to get the audition videos right too! We're all in it together!
  12. I’ve had a look at the form we have to submit and we do upload three separate videos.
  13. “Please film each set of exercises separately but only once.“ Have I understood correctly that we will therefore upload three videos?
  14. Thank you @Whiteduvet. Are you allowed to pause the video of the class to re-position etc.?
  15. Can any Year 6 auditionees fill us in on the content and guidance given? Thank you!
  16. Thank you so much PurplePirouette! So they took 4 out of 105?! Crikey... That’s great she enjoyed the audition. My pupil came out of her JA audition last year saying, “I hope I don’t get in so I get to do that again next year!” 😂 Her wish was granted...! 😂
  17. Hello everyone, I have a Year 4 (will be Year 5) pupil auditioning for Tring CBA ON 5th September and RBS JAs...whenever that happens...! Firstly, can anyone tell me what the children are asked to do in their Tring CBA audition? Is it similar to the JA audition? What are the chances of being offered a Year 5 place? Secondly, I can’t be the only one concerned about the (microscopic!) possibility of her being offered Tring, accepting (and it seems the results will be quick since term starts the following Sunday!) and then later also being successful at her JA audition, as I understand that JA classes have now mostly been moved to Sundays too? Is this the case for both London and Eastleigh? Any insight and wisdom would be gratefully received!
  18. My Year 4 student has been doing Camille's classes too. Again, she finds them challenging, but that's good for her, and it's excellent preparation for the Autumn's auditions for associate programmes too. Anyone with children aged 14 and above should look into Sander Blommaert's SS. It is EXCELLENT.
  19. I've been refreshing for three and a half hours. Going mad. Still nothing.
  20. Thank you! It turns out my pupil's mum had had the email but just hadn't told me 🤣
  21. Hello everyone, I have a pupil auditioning for Year 5 JAs and also Tring CBA Associates. Communication from the RBS has been pretty good, but I have heard nothing from Tring. Does anyone know how they plan to run their auditions and when? Thank you!
  22. I contacted Sylvia Hubbard yesterday and she responded very kindly, but too much time has passed since May so she couldn't give me any feedback. Presumably they've got rid of her notes. I'm SO frustrated. If she gets another no after this year's audition, I'll phone up straight away. It's good to know they WILL give feedback though as the original email made it sound like they wouldn't under any circumstances.
  23. You CAN?! This has been killing me since June! So is the paragraph about not contacting them for parents only?!
  24. Gosh! A real variety then! Thank you for all the responses. My little pupil didn't get a place at JAs last year, and of course you can never find out why, so I'm doing my best to provide her with the training she would be receiving myself. I've given her a chart to fill in daily, like @Dancing unicorn described and that seems to be giving her the structure and motivation she needs.
  25. Hello, Would any past or present JA parents be able to tell me what their "homework" entails? Does each child have exercises which are specific to them and what they need to strengthen, or is the whole class set the same homework? What are the exercises? Thank you very much in advance!
