  1. @Fairydust ah ok maybe that could be the case. What time was your audition? At ours the numbers started at 86 or something like that? ours was at 2 and there was another one after us at 330. This is a long wait isn’t it. thinking it could be next week we hear? X

Hello @Astrid my DD also auditioned for Royal JA as well as Elmhurst. Another waiting game. What time was your DD st Birmingham audition? My DD was number 74 😊

We were in group 3 which was at 2pm. You must have been the group before us I think? There was a lot of year 4 wasn’t there! xx

We've just heard and our DD has been offered a place!

@Dotty my DDs friend got a straight No. So yours means a reserve place. I think that means a good chance as some might turn down Elmhurst if they get into JAs.

Yay spamcat congrats to your lovely DD!!

  4. @SereiaAES you don’t have to stay - you can go out in between - I did, I went out for a coffee and came back at the end! and even if you did stay I am sure they would understand you have a new baby who needs feeding 🙃 they are all really nice.

I have spent many Saturday afternoons feeding a baby in dancing changing rooms (have two younger children), so completely  understand this! Walking round with them in a sling praying they stayed asleep 😂 congrats on the baby and good luck xxxxxx

  5. Hello @InOverOurHeads - please don’t worry - I promise we felt exactly the same (still do). I don’t know very much about ballet but find this forum really helpful, and have learnt a great deal from it. The main thing is that you DD is going to have a lovely day just like a normal class but with a few fancy extras like a piano. Yep there are some children who stretch, but just as many that don’t. What they all have in common is they love ballet!

To answer the waiting room question, ours was quite large and I imagine London would be the same, they signed me in as parent and there was only one parent with each child. We waited in one studio and they went off to another. Xx

I believe there is Totnes tomorrow then four days of London auditions next week, followed by the new Dundee centre auditions the week after...

We break up for summer holidays at the end of June so I'm just hoping we do hear by then so we can switch off and relax one way or the other!

Gosh Waverley you are right, there is an extra auditor this year isn’t there. That means an even longer wait surely?! 🤦🏼‍♀️

JJ700 my DD is also auditioning in bath for a year 4 place tomorrow. We are in group 2 registration at 10.30. My DH is taking her. My DD is really hoping they do improv, ideally on feet!

Astrid my friend asked me to say that it was lovely to meet you and sorry she didn't get to say goodbye. Her son did bath today.

Good luck to your lovely DD today Spamcat - just think you can spend the time while you wait refreshing emails for elmhurst 😂... I hope she gets to do some improv and show them what’s she got 💃🏼

  8. DD was also quite scared by a lot of the stretching at the first insight day she went to, as well as the fact a lot of girls knew each other (which makes one more confident). At the auditions, we made her a little play list (things like little mix, power) and got there at the last minute, so she was zoned out and didn’t see as much! it worked a treat...

@Balletmamatotwo thank you for all your insights into elmhurst it seems like an amazing place. DD enjoyed going to see a ‘real life’ ballet school!

@TinyNEDancer good luck to your DD!

@Shellym the wait continues - wondering if any chance could be today? 🤔

Anyway, for the under the sea, do they improv just ballet? Or do they do whatever they like? Is it all on the floor? Is it an actual dance, or just showing moves? Just trying to prepare her. Thanks all so much in advance.

From what DD said she was on her knees, they had to respond to the music so move in time to how he played..I wouldn’t worry too much, I have a sneaking suspicion by that point they probably already know if they like any of them..they would probably just love watching her whatever she did 🙃 they do genuinely have a lovely time

i think it’s so they can see their musicality (I’m on a steep learning curve 😂
