  1. Love it. Meanwhile for us it was a duet “Ann Ann come quick as you can’,(there’s a fish in the frying pan’) An incredibly long title… 😃 Beautifully made dresses that have passed the test of time:- Orange and White striped dresses with Leg O’Mutton Sleeves worn with a white apron😉. Hair worn half-up with an orange ribbon ☺️
  2. I’m never comfortable with watching such young dancers performing many of the variations, to me they are just not age appropriate. I also don’t understand why some teachers are in such a rush either… prestige?!
  3. Best wishes to you and your daughter. 🍀
  4. And unfortunately like so many other institutions that offering a similar course there’s no guarantee of a place on the Full Time BA/Degree course at the end of the Foundation yr.
  5. Oh bless, if only these old costumes could talk as I’m sure they would have a tale or two to tell. ☺️
  6. I’m so sorry to hear about your daughters anguish over her friends. I can understand how scary this all is. One of the company members with my DD has her immediate family who live right on the border. With limited internet connections she too has been desperately trying to make contact to find out more as her family. All she knows is that they now on the move further west. So sad to hear of these stories on a personal level 😢🙏🏻
  7. The simplest way I explained to my four children as they were growing up, regarding positing photos on any social media forum. “Only post what you are happy for your granny to see” “even on a private setting with the creation of being able to save anything via a screenshot there’s no expectation of privacy when using SM”. And of course the use of filters by others creating unrealistic images of perceived perfection (don’t believe everything you see) Whilst we can’t avoid these forums all we can do is educate our children to the potential pitfalls.
  8. Ooo. Thank you. I might try that additional ingredient. How much oatmeal do you add? 😋
  9. That’s shocking the prices charged for individual bars. Many homemade smoothies are relatively inexpensive and easy to make. Once anyone gets the hang of them they can create their own using fresh or frozen fruit/veg mix. I’ve just made one of peanut butter, with a banana, soya milk and alpro yoghurt no additives/preservatives whilst being very filling.
  10. My DD found her energy levels improved when we started following a vegetarian diet. Swapping bread for wraps and sipping the odd protein shake made with oat milk. Hummus and veg dips and radically reducing processed sugars and starches from her diet. Even the humble biscuit was kicked out. All of which also avoided the bloated feeling than can occur whilst keeping the sugar levels on an even keel. By making those changes she also found that she wasn’t needing to snack as often as she had when following her old diet. Not sure it will suit everyone but for someone who started at NBS where vegetables were firmly off the menu I was very impressed with her sudden about change. Even if it messed up my cooking upon her return home!
  11. Brings back some memories. A few years ago my DD & her friend entered the Demi-character class for a local festival. Delving deep into the schools wardrobe out came the tried and tested handmade dresses, petticoats and aprons for the set choreography. Oh the memories as the photos came out to for the girls to see who had worn them over the years. The dresses had survived 40yrs. Lovingly washed, starched and pressed. A credit to the original seamstress. Can’t say the sequin outfits bought nowadays would hold out for quite so long.
  12. You are a star. Thank you. ☺️
  13. Thank you. Same young lady . I was trying to post a link to her newest video interview from FB. Which was so informative and inspiring but obviously failed miserably 😔 @thesurgicalballerina
  14. Oh. I’m not too sure then how to remedy as it’s all working my end. My IT skills are questionable at best but will have a go. Suggestions welcome. 🤞🏼
  15. Hope it’s ok to post here. Just a lovely inspirational story to all. 🩰🩺 https://www.facebook.com/carrie.dianne.walsh/videos/682750899398718/
  16. I’m like you. Never added up the costs that I have paid out over the years. As well as now the sheer number of boxes of costumes I have acquired from both my DD’s. Ticket sales were also about £18 with any profits from the show were donated to a local charity. Which is common practice in my area. Buying a new football strip each season seems quite budget friendly in comparison. At least they are worn more than once! 😏
  17. Oh that’s such a shame. All the local dance schools in my area fees are paid per term which means if you wish to withdrawal your child you are required to give one months notice for fees. Whether your DC actually attends during that notice period is up to the you. Which does seem a fairer way.
  18. Those are the days I do not miss. Average I paid over the yrs was £45/50 per costume per genre per DD. That’s before a ticket was purchased. I did use to question on what planet the PTA members were on that helped choose and organise the costumes. 😧
  19. Hi. I’m mum to a NBS 2021 Graduate . My also DD auditioned when she was 15 so I can understand what you are going through. Happy to try and answer any questions you maybe beyond what you’ve seen it read in the prospectus. ☺️
  20. You are welcome. Please don’t be too concerned on your geographical location. We don’t live on the mainland and still received the most amazing service. ☺️
  21. Hi. I can certainly vouch for Leanne of Straight to the Pointe for Grishko. Certainly a good place to start. Best shoes and fit my DD has ever had. Leanne will obviously endeavour to source a Grishko pair to fit but rest assured there’s no hard sell either. She’s very open, honest and incredibly knowledgable. The other benefit for someone new to pointe is that she offers the additional service of sewing on the ribbons/elastic and darning them for you. Which can be a bonus in the early days 🩰 ☺️
  22. Brilliant news. Congratulations 🤩🥳🎓.
  23. That, I can’t help you on for sure but having had a DD complete her Trinity Dip coursework during several lockdowns there is some scope to suggest that parts of the academic module could potentially be done via ‘home-schooling’ when it comes to research & writing essays etc. However, as the coursework is so closely tied into the practical and performance modules of the Diploma spread over the 3yrs I’m unsure how it would work out in the practical sense for the duration of the course. The coursework is an ongoing element of the Diploma that can’t be condensed into one term of each year or even left entirely to 3rd year. So to conclude whilst there is scope to allow pupils to complete elements at home (helpful during lockdowns or even an injury) fundamentally it’s a practical course which requires continuous physical attendance and access to varied curriculum incl performances within a suitable dance environment. I would say studio but recent events have shown great ingenuity by pupils sourcing all sorts of locations to dance in. 😷
  24. Hi. From experience I know of several pupils that have moved after their 1st yr to other institutions for their 2nd/3rd yr whilst studying the Trinity Dip. It appears to be on a case by case basis for the receiving school/college and of course availability in that particular year group. Rather than a standard practice carried out by all. Best to check with the institution directly that you may like to move to.
  25. I was just about to post a comment about the Irish passports. Yes in answer to your question. They can access schooling and employment just like others within the EU. A friend recently graduated and was awarded a contract in Europe. Her golden ticket to enable her secure the contract above her obvious skills was that she carries an Irish passport.
