Not much luck either for English ballet dancers in this country since out of 70 dancers only 25 are British in the English National Ballet, even less likely to become a soloist since 2 out 25 only are british.

At the Royal Ballet the principals want to dance everything withoutit necessarily being a good idea. Thus we could see this week Anne-Rose O’Sullivan and Marcelino Sambé in Nutcracker’spas de deux. To my opinion Marcelino Sambé unfortunately do not have the sufficient size for such a role, we would like to see Anne-Rose O'Sullivan with another partner. As for Marcelino Sambé, so exceptional in a more neo-classical repertoire, he is struggling here and seems really uncomfortable technically speaking in this role. Anne-Rose O’Sullivan is a nice (and worried) dancer, we can see sheis struggling tofinish her variation and that she is concerned about her fouettés, we feel that she is tired and that it is time for all this to end. Two generous performers to see in another repertoire.

I have to say that Kevin O'Hare interest in Ryoichi Hirano has always been a mystery to me. We have here a solid dancer but without much brilliance to my eyes. Quite boring actually.

Regarding the number of tickets sold I think the fact that Flight Pattern is mainly a group piece does not help.

Fonty, Forgotten Land is not contemporary dance, it's full of arabesques, temps levés, grand jetés... And it's very musical which is not surprising when you think it was made 40 years ago for the Stuttgarter Ballett by Jiri Kyliàn. Very vintage.

I would not like to be in the place of Mr Watkin, the next few years will surely be very difficult for many reasons.

I am a friend of ENB. Friend of ENB because I want to support the excellent and visionary work of Tamara Rojo. On the other hand I find ridiculous to see her giving barre in her kitchen and her husband turning and jumping in the same kitchen. Just very cheap to my eyes, I could do without all that !

Capybara, 😀 You are just a member of the audience.... Reading your list looks like you want to be in the company or that you usually feel like you are part of the company. Classes are for dancers not for the audience, do you want to be part of internal meetings as well ? The Royal Ballet's mission is to present shows in its theater, all you mention there is pure communication derived from our time. Maybe we could accept that the House is going to be closed until at least next Autumn ?

May I ask what you would like them (RB) to do ? Most of the things proposed elsewhere is just communication, nothing to see with art (to my humble opinion)...
