  1. Thanks allthebest2all-Shame we won't have him training here in the U.K. But look forward to watching his career evolve!
  2. On a positive note, has everyone read this article on super talented South African dancer Leroy Mokgatle? He is forever being told that his small stature is an issue for classical ballet, hasn't stopped him from wowing people all over the world with his masterful artistry, phenomenal technique and brilliantly positive attitude. Winning awards at both the Genee and the Prix are testament to him, I can't wait to hear who he chooses to train with for scholarship year and v much hope it's rbs! http://www.theguardian.com/stage/dance-blog/2016/jan/26/dancers-diaries-leroy-mokgatle-rising-ballet-student
  3. Thanks so much Juliet for clarifying that RBS dancers do indeed come in all Various heights and proportions! I have seen this for myself too when catching glimpses of the upper school and Senior Associates classes. It's always been very reassuring for me to know that these dancers are chosen based on their own unique set of qualities. Some may not Be very tall but they can jump like a gazelle. Some may not like to turn but have beautiful artistry. They are all there for many different reasons and it's certainly not just because they have swayback or long legs. Anyone reading this thread should not be deterred in applying for RBS associates because we may never know what magical ingredient RBS are looking for but your DD or Ds may well posess it and if you never try you will never know!
  4. True true jazzpaws! There is certainly more to the selection criteria than physicality alone. It's maybe that special something that they see in somebody that can't be held to a specific criteria. Mr Annear describes the combination of things that they are looking for in a recent YouTube video (filmed at Manchester WL audition day) mentions physicality, flexibility, coordination, musicality, ability to take direction from teachers and, most importantly to show their joy of dancing! If only I could figure out how to post the link...
  5. Waiting is torture! Good luck to everyone hoping To hear news soon. X
  6. Lovely news Amos! Congrats to your DD and best of luck for the 2 finals to come. X
  7. WL emails are out and it's a yes for DD she will be happy!
  8. They were a fantastic group of 47! Girls, all very friendly and DD also really enjoyed the day.
  9. Brilliant question! I don't even know if all the vocational schools are non syllabus or some still follow RAD etc in addition to their own system? Hope some experts on here can shed some light for us all.
  10. Just wondered if girls at white lodge final tend to wear JA leotard if they are JAs or do they usually wear another plain colored one?
  11. Have any girls had a yes for Tring mds on here? Have I missed a post?! Searching for good news stories. Huge well done to all dc with a yes!
  12. Anyone know- Are funding final results arriving by email or letter? Forgot to ask! For Tring that is
  13. Yes 17 yr 6 girls there this morn, the physio callback is a mystery, DD thought those called back were exceptionally flexible, no idea if that's true?! 2-3 weeks to hear outcome seems a long time. Must improve waiting skills- Good luck all!
  14. Thanks for the info Amos I know 4 girls and 2 boys who will be at the funding audition so assumed it would be many more than 9 there!
  15. I know somebody asked already sorry but can't find the answer to how many dc Tring take to funding audition for year 7?
  16. Yes! And what he lacks in height he more than makes up for with that endearing charismatic stage presence and artistry, love watching him dance- Audience favourite at the genee and the prix I guess I'm not alone!
  17. Wise words DrDance I definitely appreciate the huge job that admin have before them (being rather poorly organized myself!) I think it was just funny to think of the admin person/people as a mystical/magical creature with great power!
  18. Email dragon refuses to be roused until lunch time it seems! Good luck everyone waiting for results.
  19. Dancefanatic yes that is an incredibly impressive achievement for your DD! Yr 8 finals for both schools is definitely exceptional. Just know lots of girls who have WL finals but no from Elmhurst and vice versa and expected a big crossover! Best of luck to your DD she clearly has the passion and dedication to go far!
  20. Hi all, my DD didn't apply to elmhurst and I don't know anything about it (aside from its great training reputation) but it seems that reading through this thread that a lot of dc who auditioned at both royal and elmhurst very few were successful with finals to both or am I wrong? I was just curious as assumed they would both be looking for similar qualities in their classical dancers? Any thoughts?
  21. Yes to WL final from London auditions, DD very happy!
  22. That's brilliant news glissade she must be thrilled! Last year a friend was at finals and there were around 40 girls, what date did your DD audition?
  23. Ah it's a letter! Was assuming email, Audition was only on Tuesday but a week is very quick and painless even by her impatient standards-thanks for the info!
  24. Anybody who has already had tring results know how long it took to hear results from them after auditioning? Impatient DD!!
