Good luck to all still awaiting news! I know it’s agony. Its always hard to not over analyze the outcome but they really are looking for a genuine love of dance and passion at this young age. They take tiny ones, extremely tall ones, athletic build, slim build, banana feet, regular feet, some can do splits, others a long way off! There is no magic physical formula as they will all grow at different rates and change drastically over the next few years. Also, they look for musicality and timing, spatial awareness, creativity etc Remember as lots of people have already said if it’s a no this time it could be a yes next year so keep trying and stay positive.

On a positive note we can all agree that Francesca Hayward, Anna Rose and Yasmin Naghdi (to name a few) are incredible recent success stories from the WL training system and are a joy to watch. I think someone hit the nail on the head earlier regarding the education/academic balance. Many other countries worldwide prioritize studio/training hours above education so will be technically advanced by a young age. In the UK the children are fortunate enough to maintain balance. Knowing how an injury can swiftly ruin a classical career I’m all for balance! Equally, all super bright academic children who attend top tier schools will not land a coveted place at Oxbridge and will also compete on a global stage so it’s not limited to the ballet world.

No doubt varies year to year depending on who they see but the year we were there I would say roughly 20 at final. Good luck 🍀

Go for it! It’s a wonderful opportunity and the staff are all very friendly and encouraging. They look for passsion and can see if the child has a love of dance even in a simple audition. Brilliant experience and nothing to lose! Definitely spotting potential and not expecting mini primas aged 8, plenty of the girls were unable to do splits and many of them were offered places. Good luck and enjoy.

Anyone have experience with ENB summer school for the middle group. 12-14yrs? Sounds great but don’t know anyone who has done it before.
