EYB- when they update FB Profile photo to a new cast...
Petalviolet replied to Petalviolet's topic in Doing Dance
But...but... we gave them the best years (ok months) of our lives?? The car journeys...money was spent...promises were made.. how can they move on so soon? And flaunting their new cast all over social media! Oh yes....fresh..new..glitzy...super talented... Out with the old like yesterday's newspaper...that has a small press photo of DD in an EYB t shirt on it... You wait!!! -
It's like being dumped.

DD missed assessments for EYB so she is being assessed by her class teacher instead next week. It was going to be a predicted score so I'm glad she is going to be seen.

Probably not sadly as I rarely do the Tring run? I think I've been maybe twice this year! YDA on a Saturday sucks the life out of me. I'm yet to find a decent eggs benedict in all of Westfield. I would start a thread about this but I'm not sure how much sympathy I'd get.

Sorry that was for Group 1.

One girl has already moved. (I rarely do the Tring run but I remember this as my DD was a bit starry eyed about her "I got to dance with X today!" gloat) I'm a bit vague on numbers but the class has really increased in size with a real mix of ages since the second round of auditionees joined and I think plenty are ripe to move up.

If I recall previous PV predictions I will be wrong and you'll get..an email in around 20 minutes or wax sealed velum parchment delivered by carrier pigeon in around 12 weeks - it could go either way.

I don't know if this helps but CBA have set a deadline of 30th May to email if you no longer wish to attend and perhaps they might wait till they know who are continuing to see how many places will be available? Last year the results were out by now and before assessments had been received but each year is different I guess? That said, you could still have an answer on your doormat tomorrow!! Good luck xx

I don't remember paying the deposit for either associate scheme until I'd heard back from the final audition which was RB and those results were out..June? I wouldn't worry I don't think you will lose your place.

I love those cryptic warm ups where you've got no idea what that dancer is doing or why they are doing it they are just completely in their zone, unaware, working on some very specific physical or interior personal issues, maybe wearing just the one leg warmer, bit of a mantra going on. Quite like it when you're watching and they lull you into a false sense of security by doing something very repetitive and small for ages and then all of a sudden that leg goes up WOW!

There isn't enough room in the Tring waiting area for every child called to audition to stretch into the splits prior to class! It just takes a few groups to stake a claim to the floor and it's standing room only!! No one should worry about stretching or preparing if they don't won't to or don't know how. All the children will be thoroughly warmed up properly before any assessment of flexibility begins. If your child has a warm up ritual that helps them relax and focus you should use it, great! Don't be intimidated by kids just sitting around chatting in the splits. It's a very pressurised environment and everyone will cope differently. Let them sit, eat, stare, read, chit chat, cuddle, tweak bits of themselves, dash to the loo (again) ostentatiously flap then dramatically drape a Royal Ballet sweatshirt onto the back of their chair (BEHOLD!) or whatever it takes just to get through the tension and self conscious awkwardness! All I want to emphasise is what goes on in that waiting room on audition day bears little resemblance to actually attending the CBA. Good luck to everyone and I hope those letters are sent out earlier than the 6th June - I'm sure we only had to wait three or four days max?

Associate programme auditions - what happens next?
Petalviolet replied to clueless1604's topic in Doing Dance
No way!!! How funny. DD's Miffy is a he even though he is pink he is a he. She says it's OBVIOUS that he is a he. I see I am meandering off topic, somebody pull us back please? -
Associate programme auditions - what happens next?

Thank you kindly ladies. Associate audition month gathers momentum.. Personally I could do without my iCloud storage limits constantly maxing out by her taking a billion audition entry photos of Miffy (little white Japanese rabbit) in ARABESQUE which bears a strong resemblance to Miffy positioned sideways which really could be Miffy waiting for a bus or watching paint dry. -
Associate programme auditions - what happens next?

There's much to be said for DD's open door policy regarding her own dance school's associate programme. The only criteria being: "No udders, no humps, no hooves." So Barbies and Mr Platypus have sailed through. Camel, SWL . Remains positive but he may want to investigate a less classical route. -
Excellent! X

Hahaha when do they speak?! Hehehehe My mother (66) went to her first Nutcracker some years back and said just a teensy bit too loudly to my sister in the intermission: "If they don't get up on their tippy toes soon I'm WALKING OUT!" 'Twas Mathew Bourne.

Well that's twice as good as a... Single threat?!! I remember sitting in that waiting room at Tring and feeling anxious myself for any number of reasons. One concern was number of glowing children voluntarily eating fruit while DD (gassy and pale from long car ride) was blasting me with her Quaver crisp breathe or liquorice burps- asked her to move over a seat. Audition waiting rooms never make anyone feel confident about anything. Good luck, will keep my fingers crossed xx

I think your feelings are completely natural New123 but I wonder how many of the other auditionees if they knew, would be very intimidated by your DD's theatrical experience? If I saw a "Matilda/Oliver/Billy Elliot The Musical 2016" cast hoodie for example (do they exist? They must do) I would be extremely slitty-eyed with 'oh great now this ones a triple threat' anxiety!

Bear in mind that if you have a group of children who know each other in a waiting room at an audition they will feel more confident to warm up together and show off their moves. There may have been equally accomplished and well trained children present from other respected and successful schools but perhaps not so quickly identified if these children were sitting waiting?
