  1. They are cranky beasts! Wouldn't fancy Princey's chances not one bit.
  2. Just wanted to say wahoo! for the yeses and boo! for the "not yets". I'm not very good on the proper ballet threads but I'm reading and very excited for you all. Sort of a cheerleader here...on the side....waving a Balletco Pom Pom.
  3. It's not so much the impending doom of prop usage that distracts me sometimes though it's just, I tend to struggle with the implausibility? I've only ever seen (live) "My First Swan Lake" so ummm I won't be posting in performances seen about this (!) but when The Prince was dancing with his crossbow and preparing for the hunt all I could think was; Young man your hunting equipment doesn't look like its fit for purpose. It looks more like a harp. A TINY harp. Swans are big creatures too and notoriously bad tempered. Unless you are planning to strum or mime it to death you are going to need considerably more fire power.
  4. Great save! You need to be able to think on your ballet feet at times don't you!
  5. DD and I have just binge watched three episodes of the new Dance Moms season 6 (oh yes. Out of the closet DM fans) and they had a girl INSIDE a huge inflatable balloon that only gave her five mins of oxygen. There but for the grace of God....!
  6. Hahhahaga but of course! Ahh the gap between intention and reality.
  7. Thank you fiz I'm stealing myself. Should anyone feel like unburdening themselves of their own festival related predicaments it would be much appreciated. Misery loving company and all that.
  8. Again thank you lovely Balletco posters! SarahW have a feeling there will be a thread of our festival disasters, I can sense it brewing. Every time I visualise DD stepping out onto that massive stage I feel a bit sick. But what could go wrong you ask? She has to lay an egg. No, that's wrong her partner has to lay an egg and she has to catch it. Teacher is rolling it on from the wings. The almost infinite opportunities for this to end badly are breathtaking.
  9. Thank you for the advice tabbycool! Update- ordered bigger size which now presents different problems in that is sits better but it's too wide. Now I'm tasked with 'putting a dart' in the back of it. Luckily I have a fairy godmother ballet friend who will (eye rolling, tutting, sighing) do this for me before grand festival debut in a fortnight. On another note. Your jaunty hat reminds me have discovered not only do I have unmeasurable girth BUT my head circumference is LARGE. Trying on hats not of the beanie variety is now very depressing. I'm basically the elephant man.
  10. I didn't realise there are boarding places available?
  11. ...just a few minor adjustments to the entire art form that is Ballet and I'm good to go.
  12. What's a normal adult girth though? For your average, out and about, in their prime, jobbing ballerina?
  13. Now that was a relatively smooth procedure. Straight down, betwixt legs and up again. Gets more complicated on me. There's....things to manoeuvre around...peaks and troughs...I could take a shortcut here or there but risk doing self a mischief. I could only get the ends of the tape to touch. Maybe it was snagged on something around the back...?
  14. I don't want to now. I'm in a huff. Stupid stupid girth smirf . I'm a bit bloated today ok?
  15. ....the measuring tape... Wasn't long enough.
  16. Anything whereby you approach your or someone else's undercarriage needs delicacy. 34" inside leg those are loooong legs! Fab. Do you need to know my height or does that make it too easy?
  17. Right lets do this. DD upstairs last minute piano practice so can look teacher in the eye this afternoon. I'm going to use the hallway I think so I've got space to...twirl.
  18. Yes! I like a challenge. Haven't measured yet so no clue. 1000 inches? Or...74.
  19. Long very very long! Let's say measurement in inches won't be so bad...or cms if you must...just not...miles or...football pitches
  20. Thank you ladies! In cold light of day tried tutu on before school, didn't bother to look just measured snorts of laughter from upstairs - it's going back. Now that decision is made.....and it has been rather a sad week what with Bowie and Rickman... ...would anyone like cheering up by playing a game with me? Guess PV's girth. I've never measured this. I have no idea. Not even a ball park. Could run into the hundreds....? Thousands? I am very curious to know though... Just need to find that measuring tape....
  21. Interestingly though it has been eye opening to see how arm placement is governed by a tutu. I'd never appreciated before just why arms goes thus and here and quite high or mustn't drop or sweep past the body because Ballet is designed (or at least this basic stuff) to accommodate a tutu. It's interesting to see DD learn and understand that a bit more too. You can take the ballerina out of the tutu but not the tutu out of the ballerina - it has invisible but definite circumference.
  22. Wide berth. It sounds quite like you are measuring width wise in order to ascertain manoeuvrability. You need to give a tutu wide berth don't you? I've seen DD go in to cuddle a senior and get poked in the eye.
