  1. Hi Balletmum1979 were you group 1 too? Or group 2? Sorry just read that sentence back and it's a bit like I'm going 1212121
  2. Thank you anna, I didn't spot any today for sale but no rush! Much as I love stuff- I might wait to get a hoodie till she's served her time? Done a term at least perhaps!! Plus she now wants booties and a stetchy band thingy.. going to have a quiet word with Santa.
  3. Seems years ago since we auditioned but wanted to report back DD's first day (group 1) was lovely and she thoroughly enjoyed herself but was certainly challenged too. I wasn't expecting her group to be so small - around about eight girls? I thought there would be 30! Not sure where I got that idea from. Trek to the loos (why were we whispering?) all part of the fun. Went to Costa but after wandering spotted The Akeman? This looked highly acceptable. I've never had so many doors held open for me by such polite children either...and they are heavy/squeaky doors. Plenty of parking....what else... Everyone beautifully turned out..we are to investigate options for some sort of small, delicate, purple hair...thingie. Covetous of Tring hoodie. Journey not as bad as we thought - back by 2.00pm so plenty of time to "do relaxing" my favourite hobby. Hope everyone that started at Tring or any Associate class this term had a lovely time too! Xxx

  8. DD is old enough to audition for Nutcracker in Sevenoaks but no date yet. Would be amazing if she got in but she is still very young (8) and hasn't had that much performance experience but the audition alone will be a great experience. Do parents watch the entire audition? That will be an eye opener!!
  9. Ah! I'm not a member but if I was I know what username to choose. Off to drive to school. Not too closely mind you.
  10. Sigh...it's probably only me but...what's an MN phrase?
  11. Not at all Snowflake!! You are a proper snowflake. Unsullied by any associations with current scheduling dilemma xxx
  12. "Special Snowflake" SNORT! Oh how many times a forum member's cunning linguistic ability has prompted me to want to change my username.
  13. It's just after you input pupils name age and centre then at the bottom of the screen it tells you how many spaces available? You have to add those details first though.
  14. We"ll be going again this year! Just leapt online as the countdown of places available makes me a bit twitchy. In my adrenalin rush managed to give details of our dance schools registered charity address rather than actual address AND accidentally called dance teacher whilst inputting her number. Carry on PV.
  15. *mumbling...I LOVE that programme. What's that PV? ...nothing...nothing.
  16. I think someone might have mentioned cake? And lo....I emerge. Balletmumealing you aren't alone AT ALL in wishing for an objective opinion now for your child's future in dance. My DD is only slightly younger than yours and I would give anything for some sort of ballet fairy godmother to tap me on the shoulder, waive her wand, tell me it'll all be worth it/ok in the end, give me a wink..and disappear in a poof of lilac dust. Sounds to me like you are already doing all the right things (taking advice, looking into training and performance opportunities, researching here!) and are heading in the right direction but that first No might be worrying you. I think we take those No's much worse to begin with as we have such a long term adults view and I'm glad your DD didn't let it knock her down but neither should you!! Having just done the audition circuit in May for Associates I thought i'd have a better idea about DD's potential but it is always so subjective, you just don't find out what the parameters are? Was it physique? Performance? Preferred a boy? Too young? Cut of jib? Who knows. I think I'm even less sure having experienced more than I was before I started!! Good or bad, yes or no just as long as your DD is enthusiastic about auditioning and you can bear the ups and downs keep going and really best of luck x
  17. Hehe hello there! I've been around but just snooping. Am nowhere near ready for term to start!!
  18. I love the way Anjuli_Bai writes as well
  19. We didn't ask our local teachers permission or have her sign a slip for LJB if that helps? We didn't get in though so...er....
  20. Well exactly! Hi cookie and big congratulations to you and your little girl!! I know nothing but I can guess that the 36 might be given to the older ones, say year 6 who don't have that much longer in the programme and if you didn't specify a choice of 24 or 36 at the audition then they would offer the younger ones less? That's only a guess as I'm not sure how old your DD is? I would take it as a blessing in disguise as you have all the benefits of being a JA with some flexibility at weekends to commit to exams/rehearsals/festivals or just a break and normal stuff like the odd fleeting attendance at a birthday party etc? Brush off any negativity as there are always others willing to rain on a parade xx
  21. Well Tring is every OTHER Sunday.... I'm just being devils advocate....! Well done for central that's proper big ballet. X
