  1. Also congratulations to your dd on the yda final, she must be a very talented young lady
  2. Amos they do a few sessions at tring so probably 9 per session but there were 3 or 4 sessions
  3. Yes Glissade there is parking at White Lodge so don't worry
  4. Wonderful news piccolo, congratulations to your dd
  5. Happymum I'm sure you'll be much more relaxed second time round (well first time with ds I guess) I know I have found it easier this year!! I think knowing the ropes helps, knowing where to go and what to expect etc plus I think it being for year 8 has took the pressure off a little too as we know there really is very little chance of her getting in, or much less chance than for year 7 at least!! I hope your ds has the same success as dd had in her auditions and I will keep my fingers crossed for him come audition season
  6. It's so easy to get caught up in it all balletmum20, I was the same last year my dd auditioned at 3 schools and got to finals for all 3, I stressed and worried and thought about it constantly for months, and guess what.....she never got into any of them!! And she was perfectly fine, a little disappointed obviously, but on the whole she was fine. So all my worry had been for nothing, so this year I am a lot more relaxed about it all and I am enjoying the process more and love hearing everyone's journey on here too, but I've learnt to accept that what will be will be, and no matter how much we will it to happen, worry if it doesn't and generally stress there is nothing we can di about it! So just try to relax a little, it's in someone else's hands now an unfortunately nothing you can do will effect the outcome! Try keeping busy to help keep your mind off it and remember your dd needs to stay relaxed about it so it won't help her is moms all worked up xx
  7. Great question Colman, I don't have a ds myself but I know a couple of boys who do Ballet and I know they had older sisters who danced and so the boys also took it up being as they were around it so much and at the studio for their sister anyway!
  8. Kate_N you are absolutely right and I should have said that once your confident on one leg you should then go on to do it with your eyes shut, again starting off on the floor and then moving onto the pillow once your well established
  9. Snowflake my dd is currently under a physio and she was told that if you don't have a balance board just stand one legged on a pillow/cushion for one minute in each leg, sounds easy enough but the uneveness and softness of the pillow is enough to make your muscles have to work hard to keep you upright and balanced, my dd has a balance board but she suggested getting really good on a pillow first and then move into the balance board. Just a suggestion before you spend out on a board, at least she can start straight away with a pillow
  10. Amos I will ask my dd when she gets home from school I she can remember whether they are mixed at finals as I can't remember. I've just checked through my emails from last year to see if I could find anything from Tring with details about finals and there wasn't anything, so I'm guessing any info must have came by post last year, but I have the most shocking memory so I can't be sure sorry not very helpful at all this morning am I!! Haha.
  11. Massive congratulations to everyone who's received a yes to White Lodge finals, it is a lovely day out for you and you dc and I know you will all thoroughly enjoy the experience!! I wish you all the luck in the world and how exciting is it to know that some of the future WL year 7's are here among us!! And to those with a no for now, just remember that your dc have worked incredibly hard and done extremely well and it really is only a no for now, there are many stories right here on this site of dc getting knock backs and the dreaded no letters who then go on to achieve incredible things, getting accepted into the school of their choice, receiving multiple offers etc the sky is your limit so continue to do the thing you love and the rewards for you hard work and perseverance will come in due course. Best of luck to you all xx
  12. Lovely news bluebird22 many congratulations to you and your pupil
  13. We also had a no for year 8 WL finals, like you dancintherain it is a little disappointing after getting through last year, but then I'm just grateful that she got the chance to go last year as some dc never get the opportunity!! Now just Tring and Hammond finals for us to contend with on this years roller coaster ride good luck anyone still waiting, huge congratulations to the yeses and commiserations to the no for nows x
  14. Huge congratulations Aklf wonderful news for you and your dd
  15. Huge congratulations sugarpumpkin on your dd's fantastic news, you'll all have a lovely day at White Lodge
  16. Yes balletmum20 you still have lots to come!! Exciting times ahead!! Good luck to your dd I hope she does well in finals x
  17. Bless her, glad it hasn't upset her!! Onward and upward and best of luck for finals and at least the wait is over now for you x
  18. Awwww Amos and balletmum20 I'm so sorry to hear of your no's you both clearly have very talented dd's for them to have done so well in their other auditions and I hope they both realise just how well they have done xx
  19. At our Hammond audition the lady doing the tour told us that in all her years working there she had only ever known of two children being assessed out.....I wonder how true this is as I thought there would be a much higher number especially as she was implying she had worked there for years!
  20. Thanks for this vonrothbart, knowing there were only 4 last year gives us something to work with I guess, we knew odds were against the year 8's but didn't have a clue on how many actually got through!
  21. Ds is fine thank you waitingmum and I don't think it will put her off, think we just need to look at taking on more classes if possible and then We'll see what happens at finals, although not getting our hopes up as we know only too well that having finals doesn't mean you'll get an offer, and look at what she wants to do from there
  22. Lovely story Miracle, your dd must be very talented and you incredibley proud!! I hope she has every success at upper school, how exciting!! X
  23. As others have said it can be a matter of days and up to about a week tops!! Much quicker than the preliminary auditions that's for sure.
  24. The nice thing with finals is the wait for results isn't as long!!
  25. Fantastic news dancefanatic, what an achievement for your dd, I wish her all the best for finals!! Very sorry for your no for now mom2dancingkenz and what a great motto your dd has, the perfect attitude for this business!!
