Blasted car designers who are more concerned by the overall appearance of their babies than whether their turn indicators can actually be seen from the necessary angles. That's yet another time I've thought a car was going straight on, and so crossed the minor road, only to have to move pretty sharpish when the car turned!
  2. Ah. I don't think I've received one from any of the other branches I'm subscribed to. And I don't believe membership costs the same at all branches, either.

  4. That's weird. Are you sure you're searching the entire forum, Lin? If I run a search for "Millepied" I get 96 hits.
  5. Welcome to the forum, River. It's perhaps worth pointing out that most of our posters are UK-based, so there may be some differences between what's done in the UK and in the US.
  6. Have you searched the forum for threads containing the word "Millepied", Lin? I know there's been something fairly recently. You can limit the search to a certain date range, too.

I thought the idea was that the NHS sent you a text the day before reminding you of the appointment and giving you an opportunity to cancel/reschedule? That's pretty poor: I'm sorry you had to suffer that. Oddly, when my mum died, rather unexpectedly, in hospital, I rang them a day or two later to tell them to cancel her forthcoming hospital appointment, only to discover that "the system" had already done it and reallocated it. It was efficient, but a bit unpleasant.
  8. It seems to me that Steven McRae must have danced "Something Different" at quite a few galas by now. Perhaps it should be renamed

It's unbelievable, isn't it? Don't these people realise how much money the NHS loses every time there's a no-show?
  10. Hmm, do you think this is coincidence? http://www.banburyguardian.co.uk/news/local-news/fire-engines-respond-to-a-blaze-at-mondelez-1-7546855 I guess it must be.
  11. Oh no! Maybe if enough people complain, they'll have to change them back before Christmas (she says hopefully).

As far as I'm concerned, she's someone who posts on Twitter and appears to get a lot of people riled up. More, I don't know.

I had to LOL at that! I sometimes wonder if people know that thermostats exist! Granted, it may not always be possible for a venue to have individual control over its hot water, as I think is the case for the New Victoria Theatre in Woking, which is in a shopping centre and shares the water supply as far as I know, but it probably is more frequently than they think.

Actually, right at the moment I'd like to put all venues which only have hot water in the taps in their loos in Room 101! You're sweltering, you want to go in and splash some cold water on your face and arms to cool down, and what do you get? "Warning: these taps contain very hot water", half the time! Not to mention the time I got something VERY nasty in my eye, dashed into Sainsbury's, which had the nearest available loos, to flush it out, and ... HOT WATER!!! In fact, perhaps I should add all those venues who think it's fine to have scaldingly hot water in their taps and not try to reduce the temperature in any way, as long as they put up a notice to warn you that the water is very hot! Have you noticed that they never have mixer taps?
  15. I meant the rental website rather than the film, Janet
  16. Hae you come across cinemaparadiso (assuming it's still going)? I dumped LoveFilm, sadly, once Amazon took it over. I think they're hoping it will die of neglect
  17. Might perhaps be better to separate them. But then, will you carry on doing that, just in case?
  18. Spending some time at the Proms. Don't know what else, yet.

Looks as though some people would like to put selfie-takers in Room 101 : http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/selfies-should-be-banned-in-london-public-places-says-shock-survey-a3327931.html
  20. I haven't actually seen most of the films listed, I must admit. My trouble - and particularly with anything non-mainstream - is that (assuming that I've heard about it at time of release anyway, which isn't always a given) it will either have been in and out of the cinema in a week before I've even realised, or I *will* have realised, but it will be in a week where my diary is already so full that I can't possibly fit it in, or it's still on, just not at any convenient time (I had options the other week, if I wanted to see The BFG, of midday or 9 pm. Who on earth schedules a children's film for that late? We're not in Spain!), or, most likely, it will bypass my local cinemas anyway
  21. True, Hull - and I do sympathise: I'm having to consider increasing my charges for certification simply because a trip to the PO will unfortunately soon take me a lot longer than the 10 minutes it currently takes, not to mention the queuing time. Not helped by the PO/Royal Mail not producing stamps you can take away and use at a later date, either, but I digress ... OTOH, the teacher is only asking for the postage costs, so would still have to go down to a PO somewhere and queue, or locate a big pillar box. Yaffa, I'd agree that returning forgotten items of dancewear is beyond the call of duty, but I would regard the sending of certificates, where necessary, as part and parcel of running a business - to the extent of at least keeping a few stiffened envelopes in stock. I'll admit to the possibility of them getting lost in the post, of course.
  22. I'm sure nobody would consider those prices ridiculously expensive, Jam Dancer. Unfortunately, the prices for those seats for Fille and Anastasia are about double that, and higher still for other, more popular ballets. :whispers: are the Row C balcony tall seats still available for those performances? They were at the weekend.
  23. And that's before the casting is even announced - so I only bought one performance, not wanting to risk getting the same cast twice
