  1. Thanks for that lollipop. I think I have been sent a letter for residential cast! I will contact them on Monday.
  2. We have just recieved the information pack for NYB summer school and I can't find the start and end time for JA's on a daily basis! am trying to co ordinate other childrens activities into the mix. Have they missed that information out or can any one help me? Thanks
  3. Hi lollipop, Congrats to your DD, my DD is also doing NYB for the first time and is doing the same ballet. You should have received an email about ordering uniform on the 19th May. All orders need to be processed by the 6th June at the latest. Please pm me if you would like me to forward the details. We have also decided that DD will not be residential as we are only 40 mins away and although a pain for my other children having to travel daily it is doable. She is really looking forward to it.
  4. Ours arrived today. I am sure the post is just delayed so don't worry. Dd has moved up to group 3 and is delighted .I did want to ask is there only one opportunity to move classes during the year? Or do they move students up at other times too? Hopefully letter will arrive tomorrow.
  5. Congrats to your DD balletDad1064. We got our contract at the start of the week but I did have a few questions. Would you mind answering if you can please? My DD is a JA and they have listed one ballet she will take part in. Is that what normally happens to JA's? or are they offered any additional dances when the course starts. She has also been offered a residential place but I was under the impression that it is predominantly main cast who stay rather than JA's! Any feedback on what they do in the evenings at Tring? I am sure they will be exhausted but if it is main cast does that mean she would be staying with children she hasn't really met during the day and could potentially feel a bit left out. She has been to the Tring Easter course boarding twice but I get the feeling it will be quite a different experience. If anyone could shed any light I would be grateful. Thanks
  6. Oops , shows how much attention I pay to my surroundings when I drop off at CBA! Hadn't noticed the pub had changed!
  7. The pub at the entrance to Tring( I think it is called The Rose and Crown ) used to do B&B.
  8. A boy of about 8 (I guess ) won the junior scholarship in group B. I think he may have won the talent show too! I agree about the presentations today. Normally it is a lot more relaxed in the theatre and everyone recieves a certificate. Hopefully it will be the same next year. My DD enjoyed herself although I am really disappointed that I couldn't watch a ballet class today. Her group was quite mixed too. However it is purely decided on ballet grade so even if someone excels at ballet it doesn't always follow they are good at all types of dancing. Anyway DD had a great time .
  9. I will arrive just in time for the first class. I did notice on the timetable that the certificates are being presented in the individual studios rather than in the theatre altogether as they previously have done. It will make it quicker to get off site I suppose!
  10. Tring zoological museum opens at 2pm on Sundays. As I found out when I took my 2 year old with me after we dropped DD at CBA! Aylesbury isn't far though and ok for shopping. It has a Roald Dahl museum which is good.
  11. I only took a photo of Fridays timetable so I knew what I would be watching ! Disappointingly my DD won't be doing ballet that day which is a real shame. I missed her doing it last Easter course due to childcare probs. Never mind I look forward to seeing her take part in the other classes.
  12. I hadn't realised Tring has wifi now! DD attempted to Facetime me last night but it was too noisy in her dorm to hear( lots of hysterical laughter!!!) . She is in group B and the girls in her dorm seemed like a lovely bunch. They were up very early doing each other's buns. On the cold front it was freezing in the dorm when we arrived. I had given DD a winter duvet just in case this time. If you are concerned I would contact them just to ask for the radiators to be turned on or a spare blanket to be found. Hope they all have a fun week.
  13. Hi Happymum- yes DD did use character skirt and shoes last year. I have borrowed some from a friend just in case but there are always plenty of girls who don't have them there. Good idea about the extra blanket though. DD came home with a stinking cold last year. She too is very excited.
  14. My dd has done the talent show the last couple of years with a friend. It is really just a bit of fun with sixth formers judging and Easter eggs as prizes. They love it. I know there isn't any tap this year but I wondered if anyone was bringing character skirts and shoes? It doesn't mention them in the letter but we brought them last year. My dd doesn't do character so it would mean borrowing some at the last minute!
  15. Fantastic news! Just had an email offering dd a part. She is going to be delighted when she gets home from school. Such a quick response too! Good luck to all of you who auditioned on Sunday as well.
  16. Thanks for your replies. The audition was today and yes it did seem like a long morning with the clocks changing! DD did her best and was called in several times which was great as otherwise there would have been an awful lot of hanging around. Just need to wait for the results now.
  17. Thank you for your reply my post was getting lonely out there!! Seriously I was hoping the next stage might include something more geared towards jazz or contemporary as that is dd's passion. Looking at the info for 2014 it does appear they are looking for dancers with a wide range of talents. Anyway she's over the moon to get too another audition and will enjoy ever minute.
  18. My dd is also doing the course and she is 11. This will be her 3rd year and the second time she has boarded. The pastoral care is excellent and the kids are kept so busy all week they hardly have time to be homesick. My dd loves tap and is disappointed there won't be an opportunity to do it. I am sure all your dc will have a great week.
  19. Dd auditioned last Sunday in the first JA group and has made it to the final audition. She is absolutely over the moon. However I was hoping for some advice from those of you who have done this before. Any ideas on what the format is for the next stage? It mentions character dancing which is not included in our syllabus although dd has done some during easter and summer schools. Any information would be gratefully received. Also commiserations to those who weren't recalled this time.Dd auditioned unsuccessfully last year so knows how it feels! Definitely worth trying again. Thanks.
  20. Glad you enjoyed the audition Anna ballerina. My DD is auditioning on the 9th for a JA part. I did wonder as the information suggests they are looking for a more diverse group of dancers this time, whether the audition reflects that? Did anyone attend on Sunday in the younger age group? Was the audition just a normal ballet class? Thanks.
  21. Thanks, I will contact EYB directly. I just wondered if it was a bit early to do so! Thanks for your help.
  22. Hi, I have searched the EYB thread but cannot find exactly the info I am looking for! Could any one give me an idea of the rehearsal schedule for Woking? Dd did Aylesbury 2 years ago but it was in the summer so it did not involve any weekends or time off school. The Woking performance is in mid November. Would the 10 days of rehearsals require any time off school? Would it be every Saturday and Sunday ? Dd starts secondary in September and we do not know how supportive a new school will be regarding authorised abscences? Thanks for your help.
  23. Mine came with instructions from the dancing boutique and am also doing straps today! However I can't get over how small the leotards come up! My dd is 10 but I have bought the small ladies as I think she would have squeezed one term out of the C3! They are too expensive to only use for one term.
  24. We heard back this morning too. Am absolutely delighted as it's a yes for my dd as well! She will be in group 2. She will be ecstatic when she gets home from school. Fingers crossed for any others who auditioned on Sunday.
  25. It was difficult to tell as all the students for the autumn day of dance were there too. It was very busy. However dd thought there was approximately 35 in group 1.
