  1. Thanks all for your input. There is no way my dd can manage any splits at the moment. I don't think any amount of stretching before the audition is going to change that. However I totally agree that any audition experience is a positive thing so will try and remain optimistic for the moment. She is in the first group on the 18th November so perhaps we will see some of you there among the masses! I will also look into NYB as I hadn't considered it before. DD did EYB in Aylesbury during the summer and loved it.
  2. Thanks Spanner. It did occur to me but I had no idea how to merge the two threads!
  3. Following on from a recent thread I wonder if anyone has any helpful advice for the CBA auditions? My daughter is not especially flexible ie she cannot do the splits! And after reading the audition details that the groups are partially assessed on flexibility am I setting her up for a big disappointment ? She is however a lovely performer and very confident for a 9 year old. She also loves anything to do with Tring Park. Any tips anyone?
  4. Thank you both for being so helpful. The RBS website is a great source of information isn't it! I think I will go to the Tring open Day in October without dd so I can have a better look. She has done both the summer and Easter school there before which she loved. It is a huge financial commitment isn't it. We have 3 children which makes it even harder and more improbable too!
  5. My dd is year 5 and we are looking at secondary schools this autumn to apply for in year 6. We are not too far from Tring and she would love to audition for a year 7 place in the future. I have been looking at their website regarding funding and I hope someone could clarify some points for me please. Firstly is there a difference between a scholarship and an MDS award and if so is the scholarship means tested? Does anyone know at what income bracket either funding would be capped? How many scholarships or awards are given out every year? Are scholarships given for dance purely? I know there is only a very slim chance but I wanted to be totally clear about the costs involved before we went any further. My dd wants to audition for associate classes and the CBA so that is something else to focus on in the mean time. Thanks
  6. It really was very easy to donate even though I don't have a PayPal account. Always enjoy the tips and advice in ' doing dance' .
  7. Thank you for all your comments. It sounds like a wonderful experience. I think my dd might be too busy this time around but it is certainly something to consider for the future.
  8. I have just come across the website for the London Childrens Ballet and wondered if anyone could give me an idea of how it compares to an EYB production or if anyone has done it before. Any information regarding the audition process especially how many children might audition would be really helpful too. My dd is available to audition in October but is signed up to do panto when the casting day is on. Although that is me thinking ahead. !!!! But any audition experience is always beneficial isn't it?
  9. Thanks for all your comments. Actually got to the meeting early today and found parents watching is 2.30pm on the 19th! We are fairly new to the ballet world and I really have picked up so many useful tips and great advice from this forum. I can't wait to see the performance.
  10. We were a bit late this morning due to temporary traffic lights off the A41! I half heard one of the teachers saying parents were welcome to watch a rehearsal. Any ideas when that would be? My dd is loving being a Songbird/Cinderella . Although she was a bit overwhelmed by the timetable on the first day. She is really enjoying the whole experience.
  11. I am new to the forum but have really enjoyed following all your stories . My dd is 9 and also attented the EYB casting at Aylesbury. She is going to be a Songbird and a mini Cinderella.(she thinks!) This is her first time doing anything ballet related apart from her dance school shows. We are really looking forward to watching her perform and she is very excited about the rehearsals although she doesn't know anyone else. I hope she has the best summer ever! Do they normally give the younger girls two roles?
