Very impressed with Elmhurst today, would be dream come true to get a place but I think unfortunately I'm not quite there yet Still an enjoyable day though

Thats interesting upper school doesn't mention it, I guess they must know that a lot of 15/16 year olds wear make up!

I think I'll take one with me and see if other auditionees have them, if not then I won't risk it!

Do bun pins with a diamond/jem thing on the end count as jewellery? Or any small hair accessory (eg. clip on flower)? I have auditions coming up this Friday, Wednesday and next Saturday and don't know whether to risk adding a few sparkly bun pins for a bit of good luck!

Also those that have applied/auditioned already could you explain what is mean't by submit an academic report? The termly academic reports my school give only have grades written on them, is this what they want?

Is pointe work included in the central auditions?

I've also got elmhurst audition coming up, we have a 3 hour drive and are still driving up on the day as my audition isn't until 12.30. I'm hoping class standard isn't too difficult! :s

That's what concerns me about tring the sets. I'm not sure if its worth the £45 audition fee and whole process of auditioning if I'd end up being in a lower set (if I got in!) not doing a huge amount of classical ballet which is what I want.

Are Hammond and tring still considered to be good schools at sixth form, particulary for strong classical training? I'm asking because i thought they do lots of dance styles rather than the emphasis being on ballet as it is at rbs, elmhurst, enbs and central. Does this mean their classical training isn't so strong? Do many graduates go onto classical careers?

So is there no way of auditioning for sixth form at POB school?

Ecarte and Dragonlady could you ask your DD's what pointe work they had to do? I'm auditioning in January and am relatively new on pointe so just wondering.

Which is the best ballet magazine in people's opinions? Just wondering because I was thinking of asking for a subscription to one for Christmas

What I don't get is how they can accept people for finals when not everyone's even auditioned yet? What if then they see loads of good people at the next auditions, would they just have very big finals?!

Swan princess I have only been on pointe for 6 months and am auditioning this year so I wouldn't worry. I'm just going for it - maybe I'm completely insane! and I know there's no pointe in the preliminary for rbs

I'm interested in 6th forms and auditions there, especially since I definitely had no interest in vocational school for lower school so am very new to all this and am auditioning this year! Can anyone recommend good past threads I could look at?

I wish we could always have a live pianist playing in class I thought the teacher was really lovely as well

Something that's confusing me is ages when applying to courses. For example sixth form courses say you must be 16 and I assumed it was only 16 year olds that started on the first year of the course but can you audition for the first year of a course when your 18 or 17? Or would you be auditioning for a 3rd or 2nd year place?

Slightly off subject, but on the Hammond website it says an audition date will be given on receiving your application - does anyone know if there is a deadline for applications?

Are the four big schools RBS, Elmhurst, Tring and Hammond? Just wondering
