  1. This might be really silly question, but do you actually have to have done a lot of contempory in order to audition for CAT contempory scheme? I do a lot of ballet and take jazz classes as well but don't actually take regular contempory class but I'm interested in auditioning for Exeter contempory CAT in June - would it be ridiculous for me to audition having not done a huge amount of contempory?
  2. I can't think of anything else thanks afab. I would be in the top group too, was it all classes they didn't find challenging enough or just ballet?
  3. I assume so, it's just called 'Tring Park Summer School' - no mention of Cecchetti..
  4. Does anyone have any experience of the Tring summer school? The website says there are classes in classical ballet, modern, street, character, repertoire and musical theatre but students can choose to do either 1, 2 or 3 days so presumably depending on how may days you attended you wouldn't do all the classes. Does anyone know how this works? Can you choose what classes you take? Thank you
  5. I was thinking of Exeter which I think has an open day on May 27th. Just out of interest, why do they need passport photos?
  6. Ok, I'll be brave and try it! The open day sounds like a good idea.
  7. Thanks robin. When you say classes are tough do you mean everyone taking the classes/auditioning is of a really high standard or is it a mix of abilities? Im not sure whether to go for it and audition or if I would be way out of my depth!
  8. Does anybody have experienced with the Exeter CAT?
  9. Are the people that audition a range of abilities? Is it only exceptional dancers that get in or do they look for potential more than the ability you already have?
  10. Hello, Does anyone have experience with CAT contempory scheme? Is it good? And what sort of standard are people that audition/get in? Thanks!
  11. Thank you very much anjuli_bai - lots of great tips there!
  12. Hello, I can't lift my leg very high in a developpe at all, not even to 90 degrees! I am flexible enough so I'm guessing it's a strength problem, I have the same problem doing arabesques as well. Does anybody else have this problem? And does anyone know how I can strengthen my legs so that I can lift them high? Thank you!
  13. What sort of grade are most people that audition??
  14. Ok, thank you aileen I'll keep a look out for threads on summer schools. I'll keep checking the Duchy ballet website for details balletbun
  15. Oh that's a shame how often do they come to the southwest?
  16. thank you pups_mum, the website does look good. They only have the audition details for last year though, I think I'll contact them and ask.
  17. I'm in Devon janice and ellen and thank you for ideas. The elmhurst associates is for younger children unfortunately, how often do English Youth Ballet travel around?
  18. Hello, I'd really like to try and audition for some sort of associate course but all the ones I've heard of are a long way to travel from home, and my parents don't want me to travel far. I was a late starter in ballet and have managed to catch up with the rest of my age group, I'd like to audition for an associate class to try and take my training to the next level but I'm not really sure if I'd be good enough or not :s Does anybody know of any associate courses for older girls (around 15 years) that run in the southwest? Or of any youth companies in the southwest that would give me the chance to perform more often?? Thank you!
