  1. My daughter auditioned for RBS mids and WL yesterday in Birmingham, she really enjoyed her audition. Before I wear out the refresh button on my emails or take to stalking the postman can anyone remember how long it took for the finals letter to come out and if it is a letter or an email? Thank you
  2. Beautiful photos. Sadly my daughter's group didn't do the dress rehearsal and therefore we missed out on photos I am feeling very Christmasy now having watched the first act looking forward to watching the whole performance at the weekend
  3. Excellent. I don't know sorry. I have been told of two my daughter will know but not whether they have accepted the place. Very exciting. Although you may find me gently rocking up a corner by mid December!!
  4. My daughter has also been selected. 74 mile round trip for us. We are relying on a lot of help from family as I have another child to sort out. We have decided that its a once in a lifetime opportunity and something she will remember forever. I hope you are able to say yes and maybe we can spot each other when the madness begins.
  5. I am so glad I read this I hadn't looked closely at the dates. It will be my daughters last week in primary school not something she would want to miss
  6. On the contrary just make it a competitive price!! New made to measure are £35!
  7. Not this year!! You can buy ready made, at a sensible price, from the uniform supplier = one very happy mum
  8. Birmingham years 4,5 and 6 are mixed classes. My daughters classes for the last two years (yr 4/5) have been split equally between boys and girls. The MA class does also have a couple of boys. x
  9. Hi we have just completed our first year as a JA in Birmingham and my daughter has missed one lesson for a festival. It was a group dance and we didn't want to let the group down. Her JA teacher was increadibly supportive and said they possitively encourage them to perform. I am not sure we would have missed three though!
  10. Is anyone able to advise if this ballet is suitable for a 9 year old to watch please? I know beauty and the beast can be a frightening story but I will confess I have never heard of the ballet until now. Thank you in advance
  11. I was lucky enough to watch yesterdays performance as well, after your advice I took my 9 year old daughter. It was the best ballet we have seen so far. Maureya was magical she truly looked like gravity had given her a miss and she acted the part beautifully. My daughter was mesmerized from start to finish, and as she had done a JA workshop over Easter for this ballet as well as she sat in her seat she danced the dance with the chickens. A ballet I shall remember for a very long time.
  12. We are just coming to the end of our first year of JA's and as a year 4 starter we hopefully have another two years. My daughter has enjoyed every minute from the audition onwards. We treated the audition as a fun mummy and daughter day out. Don't get caught up in the competitive flexibility talk and showing off whilst waiting to audition, no one really knows what is being looked for and I can assure you 12 months in not even half of my daughters class of 16 can do the box splits still! We are birmingham ja's if anyone has any questions I am happy to reply.
  13. Thank you. What are midscale tours and where do I look for dates please?
  14. I am trying to take my daughter to see a few live ballets, we love DVDs but it is not quite the same. So far we have been lucky enough to see a few Brb production but I am afraid I have not heard of a lot of the ones coming up next year (uncultured!!) please can anyone advise which would be most suitable for a 9 year old. Thank you in anticipation.
  15. I agree that the veg are an important addition but we are talking about a 7 year old for whom this will be there evening meal and before exercise, carbs eg pasta or rice are extremely important and should not be thought of as something children should not eat. Adults can restrict carbs children need them to grow and for their bodies to produce energy. All things in moderation is my moto!
  16. http://www.dunelm-mill.com/search/?query=Aladdin+ hopefully this link works
  17. Dunelm Mill have a good selection of food flasks from £2 upwards in a variety of sizes and colours. We regularly opt for a pasta bolognese, meatballs and speghetti or similar on the go and the food keeps warm for upto 3 hours
  18. We are just at the very beginning of this journey and I was wondering if anyone could advise on the best age for vocational school? Year 7 seems very young but are you less likely to find a place in year 9. Cost would be a major issue for us and my initial feeling is the later the better but I don't want my daughter to miss out if the potential is there, a big if I realise
  19. I had never heard of these books before but have looked on amazon as they sound perfect for my daughter. Sadly they are no longer available in a lot of places does anybody have any copies they would be willing to sell on? Thanks
  20. Very enjoyable first day. Lovely teacher who was very welcoming. Just a normal ring binder for Birmingham. Lovely to see everyone in their uniforms. And much to my daughters delight a pianist She can't remember her teachers name but she remembers the pianist's She can't wait for next week!
  21. Slightly panicking now - what weird file things?? Have I missed something? Not had an email yet for the general rehearsal which centre is your daughter at?
  22. Good luck to everyone starting this weekend. We are very excited. Uniform purchased, skirt made and "optional" fleece and track suit trousers purchased. Have fun x
