  7. The £114 is for an "experience"; you seem to be able just to book a seat (without the experience) for £55. The cheapest seat on the back row of the circle is £25. Booking in the stalls is looking healthy. Come to think of it, I had thought about going but it clashes with something else I already have booked.
  8. As it happens, I find there is always a warm welcome at the Hippodrome. I think the FoH staff there are some of the best and most courteous around.
  9. I couldn't agree more Melody. I tried to edit a single line on an entry this week and gave up after about 45 minutes. I have edited occasionally but not for some time. I am sure it used to be much more straight forward.
  10. The Birmingham season details usually give a good idea of what will be touring after Christmas. The main unknown will be midscale as the tour just about to start is in its 2nd year so it will be all change. I suppose the other great unknown will be where, or if, there will be a Spring season in London.
  11. Ravenna Tucker did not retire from RB - she moved to BRB and I enjoyed many of her performances there! She did retire from BRB. A late friend of mine firmly believed that if the move to Birmingham had not taken place, with its subsequent unravelling from RB, then SWRB would have been closed down during one set of cuts or another. She was a very astute observer of politics in respect of Arts Council funding and I am sure her assumption would have proved correct. Thank goodness, says I, that BRB unravelled from RB!
  12. I agree! I was going to book for Birmingham but was put off by the ticket prices.
  13. Bearing in mind that it's probably 3 years since we saw Swan Lake probably not at the time! Let us also not forget that the likes of Alexander Campbell (now with RB), Miki Mizutani, Yaoqin Shang to name but 3 were getting major roles within their first year in the company.
  14. Ian published it yesterday Alison: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/theatre/dance/11608337/Ballet-icon-Sylvie-Guillem-retirement-interview-I-knew-for-a-long-time-that-I-had-to-stop.html
  15. The details are in the SW brochure Alison and the tickets went on sale to the general public on Monday. It's Swan Lake at the start of the week and a mixed programme with T&V and The King Dances on Friday and Saturday.
  16. It shouldn't, and doesn't, matter who you see with BRB! Although I expect everyone will want to see the very wonderful Celine and Tyrone. Sadly I missed them last time round but hope to catch them this time. DQ is right, sometimes the matinees have interesting casts.
  17. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 performances I saw yesterday. It was good to see Angels in the Architecture again, lovely choreography reflecting the simple way of life. The second cast of The Architect have come on in leaps and bounds since I saw them in Leeds last week and I thought they were absolutely wonderful (the first cast continues to be awesome!). Lucia Solari and Javier Torres continue to be sublime together in Perpetuum Mobile. It was also lovely to catch up with fellow Forum members Josephine and LinMM and to finally meet Bill Boyd.
  18. The official press release about the live streaming: Choreographics Live Saturday 20 June 2015 Performance at 2.15pm www.ballet.org.uk/choreographicslive “It’s tremendously heartening to see a programme so well designed for young choreographers” The Arts Desk English National Ballet’s platform for emerging dance makers, Choreographics, at Sadler’s Wells’ Lilian Baylis Studio on 19 and 20 June, will this year be live streamed for the first time, in partnership with ArtStreamingTV, on Saturday 20 June at 2.15pm. As well as being able to watch the full programme of performances, audiences will also get an insight into Choreographics, with live interviews from some of the artists and collaborators involved. Tamara Rojo, Artistic Director of English National Ballet said: “Choreographics is a wonderful platform for up and coming dance makers, offering them an incredible opportunity to develop as creators, and work with leading figures in the dance world. I am thrilled that this year we are able to live stream the programme, allowing audiences around the world the opportunity to see what these talented choreographers produce.” This year sees six works, inspired by the theme of post war America, from English National Ballet company members Fabian Reimair, who created We Are Free for last year’s programme; James Streeter, whose workIn Living Memory was performed at Latitude Festival in 2014; Stina Quagebeur, whose Vera was selected by The Breaking Glass Project and performed in New York and who recently worked on English National Ballet’s second Dance Journeys project at Sadler’s Wells; and Max Westwell, making his debut as a choreographer in a professional setting. For the first time, this year’s Choreographics is open to artists outside of English National Ballet, and sees work presented by Morgann Runacre-Temple, choreographer in residence at Ballet Ireland since 2009, who has created four full length ballets for the company; and Renato Paroni de Castro, who has previously choreographed works for Sarasota Ballet and London Studio Centre’s classical ballet performance group, Images of Dance. Each choreographer will receive mentoring from award-winning choreographer Russell Maliphant and dancer, choreographer and teacher Kerry Nicholls, and musical guidance from English National Ballet’s Music Director Gavin Sutherland. Each piece created will be performed by English National Ballet company members (see below for casting). The winning piece from English National Ballet School’s Choreographic Competition, which will also be live streamed on ArtStreamingTV on Tuesday 19 May at 7pm, will open Choreographics. Choreographics offers emerging artists the opportunity to discover a choreographic language and progress their skills as creators. It is vital to English National Ballet’s commitment to the development of talent both within and outside of the Company. 19. BRB usually only put casting up two weeks ( or sometimes less) in advance. Glad you enjoyed BTUK Anna, I did too!
