  1. WL and MAs is the next day ?? Doesn't make sense ! I would ring them to confirm your dd is in the correct audition !
  2. Apologies for our ignorance but can anyone tell us who was teaching the first class yesterday ? Dd said they were both fantastic but can't remember who they were ????
  3. Excited dd ! See you all there ! I lived in London for 7 years and love Covent Garden ! I'm going to have a lovely day too ! ???? Safe journey everyone x
  4. We got one too ! We only ever applied once and that was 3 years ago ! Strange !
  5. Noticed that The Joffery School summer intensive is in Florence next year !!
  6. My non vocational DS has been for the past 2 years and I would say that there is only about 3 or 4 elmhurst students in each year group. A few from Tring and Hammond but mostly non vocational ! No RBS ! Good luck x
  7. We just got a couple of practice non verbal reasoning books for her to do so she didn't get too stressed about it ! She saw them as puzzle books and enjoyed doing them !
  8. When dd did Elmhurst finals there were 3 groups ! Each did a ballet class , physio assessment , non verbal reasoning tests and a tour of the boarding house. They did this in their groups and parents were asked to return to the school when their child's group were touring the accommodation ! There were approx 37 girls in total, grouped alphabetically, and I believe 12 were chosen. Good luck to your dd ! Enjoy the day x

  10. You don't have to go away at 16 ! Some like Central, Rambert etc take at 17 or 18 ! Some even later ! The degree courses obviously requires student loans to cover the course fees with parents only paying for accommodation etc ... That's still a big etc but slightly cheaper for some than with a DaDa and not with the earning restrictions !
  11. Hi, my heart goes out to you and your Dd ! We are in a similar position with Ds ! We have cut his choice of sixth forms from 8 to 3 ! And even then the cost, even with a DaDa is unachievable ! We have a Dd on an MDS already and the two schemes do not recognise each other ! So it more than doubles our contributions ! With the £70,000 earning limit we are stuffed ! We have jobs that have the potential to earn extra but with this new rule can't !! We have to give him the same opportunity we have given his sister but it's so hard ! If they are both successful in their ambitions then at one point we would have two in sixth form ! That year alone I calculate would cost £26,000 !! We would do anything for our children but something's are a bridge too far ! Good luck with the auditions x may see you on the circuit ! Lol ! Xx
  12. My older Ds has a scoliosis ! It was picked up at a summer school. We went to the GP who refered us to an Orthopaedic surgeon who xrayed him and refered him to a scoliosis specialist and for an MRI to rule out a sinister cause. He has no pain or limitations. We were told that it is not familial and as his growth spurt slows so will the degree of scoliosis. It is all down to the degrees ! His isn't so bad as to require surgery ! He is doing his intermediate exam soon and has no difficulties with any sport ! He has no aspirations of a career in ballet so I dont know how a scoliosis would affect that x
  13. Tring has accommodation and houseparents ! Central worried me for a 16 year old ! Central London on their own ! Maybe at 17 or 18 ! But not for us now !
  14. We used the premier inn on Hagley road for Dd's Elmhurst finals ! It's the only place that we have ever come across that does "bottomless chips " !! Lol !! Drinks yes !! Chips no !!
  15. Thank you x I did a search but couldn't find anything !
  16. We always stay at the premier inn at Rubery ! 15 minutes straight drive to the school, free parking and cheaper and quieter than the inner city ones ! Fab choices of restaurants too ! Good luck x
  17. Are foot stretchers beneficial or not. I am debating as to whether I should purchase one for Dd and Ds. I am getting conflicting views from articles. Physiotherapists don't seem to recommend them. Does any one have any experience or advice! Thank you x
  18. Thank you x Dd tried them on and liked the fit and look it was just the elastic across the top of her foot that she felt made the box bulge ! Going to try another make first but may go back and see how they work in x
  19. Has anyone had any experience of Me Me soft blocks ! Dd has Grishkos at the moment which are a nightmare to break in but fit her lovely ! Thinking of trying these but would like some advice ! Thanks x
  20. They offer places to children they feel are suitable for dance training ! I don't believe there is a minimum to maximum and varies year on year ! My dd is in year 9 and will have to go through the appraisal process in February to determine her suitability to continue with her training ! They all sort of reaudition ! Good luck x
  21. We always stay at the premier inn in Rubery, near the M5. It's about 20 minutes drive from the school. Good pub next door and a variety of restaurants. Free parking ! A lot of the city centre ones are local multi storey parking !!
