  1. Has anyone been lucky enough to be offered a year 10 place at Hammond or Tring? Jill
  2. DS tried the classes and decided they were not for him but his friend goes and really enjoys them. I think it was the style of teaching rather than the content that he didn't like. From my very limited knowledge of these things it seemed like a good standard (age 14 and over. He attends an associate scheme and CAT already so I didn't encourage him to try a few more classes or to give it a bit a time. His dance teacher wasn't very keen on him going there anyway. Jill
  3. Were you told how many yr 10 places they have this year? Hope it's good news from Elmhurst too - but then how to choose!!!
  4. DS has these and absolutely loves them. I ordered them from Just Ballet and had the most fantastic service!
  5. Would anyone who has been to the auditions please let me know what time they actually got away? I want to book seats on the train so need to know which one I can realistically catch. Thanks in advance.
  6. Last Sunday they had a ballet class, street dance, creative and contemporary. They start at 10.30 and finish at 3.45 and have 9 sessions per year.
  7. Is there enough interest to think about a Christmas lunch that doesn't mean travelling to London - maybe Birmingham?

    painful foot

we were recommended to use Movelat for a ligament injury, it's a pain relief gel. We were told to apply a generous blob at bed time -DO NOT rub it in - wrap loosley in cling film and then put a sock over it to keep in place and to do this for 3 nights. the rest of the advice was as above, rest, ice, rest, rest and then rest lol!
  9. Will you have mens tights in time for your offer? Please don't forget men/boys when looking for bags Thanks
  10. great advice thanks, the CAT will pay for an initial assessment too! edited for typo as usual
  11. No Aurora don't panic it's nothing to do with auditions! Is there not a session in November? I've still not had any info - I think they've forgotten about us although I'm sure they'll get in touch when they want money lol
  12. Picked up a limping, in obvious pain, CAT student yesterday and took him, off to A&E to be told he had a medial colleteral ligament injury - a second degree sprain! No dancing, no sport for 4 - 6 weeks. Does anyone have any experience of this and what was the recovery like? How has it affected your DS/DD since? I know everyone is different but just wanted to know a bit more about other peoples experience. I know no matter what I do I won't be able to get him to rest it as much as he should!!
  13. We've done it and DS thought it was great and would love to do it again but it was more the whole experience he loved as he didn't find the dancing particularly challenging

    Boys Socks

Thanks everyone, I'll look at the Bloch ones later when I'm at home, I've found the M&S ones to be too short (he insists on knee high!! boys - tut)and the Intermezzo aren't cotton mix either but we'll keep serching for the perfect sock lol!

    Boys Socks

We always struggle to buy socks, especially to fit his size 10 feet. We have had them from Porselli before now but they soon get 'bobbly' and I would prefer to get cotton/cotton mix - any ideas anyone please? Where do the boys at Tring get their socks from, they always look good? Edited for typo
  16. Thanks for that, not seen Giselle since 2008 so maybe that's why I couldn't place it
  17. Roberto Bolle and Carla Fracci doing a bunch of entrechats: wonderful but I can't think what the ballet is, please spare me from a restless night
  18. Not had that at Hammond but have had it at Tring for boys boarding!

    CAT Scheme

Just had the news that DS has a place for September. I'm soooo proud of him!
  21. Great to see you on here again Fran, it's been ages. Hope things are looking up for you and DD
  22. It looks great and DS would love it but there just isn't the money for him to do it. If there were cheap train fares and/or free accomodation or a lottery win lol.... It always makes me sad to keep saying no to things but I guess that's life and a no to a summer school or Easter course isn't anywhere near as bad as saying no to vocational school!
  23. Celebrating success was also very important in primary school and they were all encouraged to bring in certificates etc for things they had acheived out of school. The school were very encouraging of his dance to the extent that the whold of yr 6 went to see him when he was dancing in Nutcracker - to the Thursday matinee!!!
  24. that made me laugh as it's exact;y what I'm doing - sneaking a look whilst at work!
