  1. yes we did last year. DS thoroughly enjoyed it and if funds permitted we would do it again
  2. It's hard but you must have known about the travel etc when you made the decision to audition and it seems a little harsh to say you can try for something but then say you can't do it because of the timing/travel etc. I agree with giving it a go and seeing what happens. If it's not do-able at least you gave it a go and hopefully she will see/understand why it has to stop.
  3. Does anyone know anyone who makes leotards?? DS would'nt really appreciate a tutu
  4. It makes it diffcult at times when they stick to ages i.e when the levels don't match where your child is "15 and 16 year olds grade6/standard6 or be studying at this level" - DS just turned 13 and has already done Senior Standard 7 - grade 4/4 standard 4 was about 2 years ago so not sure if there would be enough 'challenge'

    Dance4 CAT

Has anyone any experience of the Dance4 CAT in Nottingham please?
  6. Does anyone know anything about Dance4 in Nottingham?
  7. We had a similar experience, offered a place, invited to funding audition, SWL for MDS , discussion re finances then offered a bursary. Sadly we too had to turn the place down.
  8. I think it may have been Desmond Kelly who said that they don't like to turn anyone away from auditioning as you never know who may come to the audition. You may not have any spaces for a year group but if the the next potential Carlos or Darcy came through the door you are not going to turn them away - you will find a space! Having had offers for year 7 and 8 but with only a 50% scholarship offered we decided not to try for year 9. Last year Tring offered a place but without a boarding bed available! I couldn't decide if it was good that they wantded him despite the lack of bed or bad that they wanted him but not enough to find a space! tutoo2much, on 26 February 2012 - 01:39 PM, said: I think for children from poor families, voactional school may be the best way of getting a dance education. But if you have money, time and and total focus and a good enough local teacher, it is possible to keep up with the array of associate and holiday courses and youth dance companies that are around. I agree in part with what tutoo2much says but as a family where the chldren qualify for free school meals where does the money come from for all the lessons needed to try to keep or for all the courses, schemes, associates etc. Sometimes I think it would be easier to stop trying but how fair is that? Having had offers each time of trying for vocational school and having been on SWL twice for RBS training (not WL) I think I need to give DS every opportunity I can but at what cost - there is never going to be the money to pay for him. His dream is to dance full time, I shouldn't have to take that away from him just because we are poor!

    Tring

Not sure about yr 7 boys but last year we were offered year 8 place but told there were no yr 8 beds available!
  10. I would love to help too but also not very techie and not in London!
  11. What grade is this for? DS does Cecchetti - grade 6, Inter Found and has just finished senior standard 7 - I'm not aware that he has ever had to do that yet.
  12. If you get the bus from the station it's really easy and only takes about 10 mins - depending on traffic. Buy a day ticket as they are good value if you are going to go back in to the centre during the day.
  13. "What have you heard about the MIDAS one? I might get in touch with them as it seems to be the kind of thing we're looking for but it's always helpful to hear what people think about the classes themselves." We did their summer intensive last year and it was really good, we would have done the associate scheme had we been able to fit it in!
  14. Thanks everyone, looks like it's worth going!
  15. Does anyone know if any of the London dance shops are open on a sunday please?
  16. I don't want to be negative but it worries me when I remember what happened when we were asked for subscriptions last year! I suppose we need to understand what the costs would be, how many 'members' there are and how the money would be raised - a fee to join? a monthly subscription? etc. I guess we need to wait and hear from the committee once they have some time to assess everything. I hope that if there is any way to keep this fantastic forum open, we find it and suppport it
  17. Please add my name to the list of those willing to help. I have no real technical skills but if there is anything else I can do please get in touch Jill
  18. A wating list place here too - we are sooo pleased and suprised. The letter was lovely and very encouraging even if a place doesn't come up it still feels like an achievement. Hoping that 'selected waiting list' means that it's not too big a list and keeping fingers crossed that we are not at the bottom of it lol! :>)
  19. As the song says" you don't know what you've got til it's gone" but I think we all do know what we've got - a super and invaluable resource and I'm so grateful to have it back. Thanks
