My friend has a DD who is subject to this type of training , the teacher seems highly regarded in terms of the choreography she produces for the big comps , but the physical and psychological damage she causes to the children is nothing short of abuse. The parents seem to become brain washed into thinking this is normalised behaviour in the dance world without questioning the fact the teacher in question has no teaching qualifications or even experience as a professional dancer , scary stuff !

Thanks so much for all the advice . Taking it all onboard , it was all going so well yesterday lovely family day out . Until this morning when I heard the eldest shrieking “she’s got my socks on again “ and some sort of kerfuffle there after . The house will certainly be quieter in September 😂🙄

My oldest DD loved all types of dance and excelled from a young age from performances to exams . Her dance teacher advised that due to her body type classical ballet would not be a possibility for a career . She still auditioned for vocational school at her insistence and broke her heart when it was an expected no. Her sister two years younger and much shyer never got chosen for any big parts and often got lower exam results than her sister , however her dance teacher said she had incredible physical facility . Last year she became a JA and 5 month later ending up on the audition tread mill. Without expection of a place anywhere. She was offered at place at the very school her sister so desperately wanted to go to. Initially she was happy for her but now she seems to be taking it very personally and there seems to be a distance between them. This makes me very sad especially as my youngest daughter will board from September. Has anyone experienced this ? Or have any ideas on how to deal with the situation? TIA

No scholarship for DD so will be turning down place hope that free’s one up for someone else

Can someone explain to me what is the difference between the bursary and the scholarship at ybss

Congratulations ... I’m happy to arrange summer schools etc , but I’d assumed maybe naively that the school training would be enough however I’m now hearing otherwise . My DC follows older students from the school and it concerns me how much extra happens outside school at parents time and expense . As a single mum with two year old twins I can’t do this . Which SS are you considering ?

My DD might be starting vocational school this sep, I was wondering how necessary is additional training ? It seems a lot of full time students manage to train full time then attend extra lessons and attend work shops all over the country at the weekends . This is something that I don’t think I could manage .

How essential is additional training when at vocational school ? I notice a lot of DC seem to attend many workshops extra classes etc all over the country . This is not something that would be physically or financially possible for me. I had thought the full time training would be enough .

Does anyone know how many scholarships there are and are they spilt between London and Leeds audition ?
