Ellie
Does anybody have any experience of the Doreen Wells Summer School ? I've been having the odd look at the website since last year, but wondered if any of you had DC's who've attended. http://www.doreenwells.com/#!services2/cnge
Jan McNulty
Ellie, I've merged your query in with this thread to keep all the posts about the Doreen Wells Holiday Courses together.

Ellie
Thank you cornishprincess. Can you give me an idea of the age/level of Dd's friend ? My Ds is almost 14 and in vocational training. He did WL last year and enjoyed it ( I think the whole residential camaraderie was his favourite bit !!) I think the Doreen Wells course looks great, but don't know if we should hold off applying until he's a bit older ....x
s.dancer
My friend went last year and loved it, it is £950 for a week residential...
LinMM
Phew that's expensive!!
Ellie
It is LinMM (not sure if they offer scholarships...) but the course seems to be quite different to others, very specialised with small groups, one to one coaching, gyrotonics, nutrition advice etc...Which is, to be honest why I think it may be more beneficial to more advanced students rather than younger ones...Watch this space and maybe we'll find out ! x

Circe
My dd went for a day visit last year to Doreen Wells. It was very small, very focussed on the individual dancers - the videos on the web site or facebook give a very good impression of what it is like. I think it would suit confident intermediate foundation upwards. I will also pm you ellie when i have a chance.
cornishprincess
Hi Ellie, the dd's friend was 15 at the time and not at vocational school at the time but very good. She was about Advanced 1 level.

taxi4ballet
It says 14 and up on the website, and they recommend that students go for both weeks.

angel
I'm interested to know why this course would be so much more beneficial than others to warrant the high cost??
Circe
I can't defend their pricing but in the brief visit my dd made last year the classes were very small eg 3 or 4 dancers so there was scope for very direct corrections and improvements on a one to one basis with doreen wells or the other teachers/ artists that came in, which i guess, if you can afford it, is money well spent.
s.dancer
My friend was 12 and I know someone who also went who was 15 that went. Don't think it really matters as most of the coaching is private x
