Karen Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Is anyone else's dc going on Wednesday? Dd is travelling with a friend so we won't be there at drop off, but it would be great to meet some ballet.coers on Friday at the performance. Dd is excited and is looking forward to it hugely! It's a new venture so hope it will be good! 1
afab Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I will be there at drop off and for the show on Friday. I will most certainly be dressed in black with a red coat if the weather is bad...
Karen Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Would be good to meet you afab! Not sure what I'm going to wear, but hopefully it won't be coat weather!! 2
dancingmuppet Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hi, I should be at drop off and pick up (unless just dh does it). It is 11am for drop off isn't it? For some reason I had in my head 9.30am, not sure where I got that from! Dd is very nervous as she hasn't done anything like this before.
charlie4dancin Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 We will be there too... Dd very excited Cx 1

pas de chat Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 We will be there too, just thinking about packing up DDs suitcase. Â No bed linen required which is great although DD insists on her own pillow! Â Little DS (2) will be attached to us no doubt causing havoc! 4
Karen Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Have a great time everyone! Hope all travel arrangements go smoothly and look forward to seeing Friday's performance.
pas de chat Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 DD all settled in and is sharing with lovely girl of a similar nature. Â RP was there greeting all pupils in which I thought was a lovely touch. Â Facilities are very impressive she is a very lucky girl!
afab Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Same here. I talked to someone thinking it was you, Pas de Chat ! It was the little 2 years old DS who did it...  Lovely lady but obviously not you! :)Better luck next time I hope!!! 1

It is such an impressive set up.  Did your dd get a t-shirt.  They seemed to be very small!
afab Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 DD is in 20 in Park... Yes we got a hoodie but it is 2 sizes too small. Hopefully we'll get a new one... DD rang at the break this afternoon to say it was great! Wonderful! 1
dancingmuppet Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 My dd is in 22 in Park. The drop off went very smoothly, she'd gone from being nervous yesterday to very excited by this morning, hopefully she'll have a lovely time, haven't heard from her yet. The hoodies were really small don't think they match the measurements given on the website!
Lildancer96 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Sure they will swop if the wrong size. They were on sale at the senior summer school drop and collect despite them saying they wouldn't be ...
pas de chat Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 DD is in Mortimer which is usually a boys dorm.  Our HM said the girls dorms were much better but I was still impressed compared to another vocational school where they put 7 in a room.  At least they may get some sleep! ho ho  I won't hear from her as she didn't want to take her phone so very pleased it is good.
afab Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 DD2 was in Mortimer for the Senior SS and I thought her room was slightly nicer than the one in Park. Same setting but lighter... Definitely better than the one you are mentioning with 7 beds a room... DD2 got ill while she was at the Senior SS in Elmhurst and the house parent was absolutely fantastic!
dancingmuppet Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Just had a text from dd to say they're watching Coppelia tonight. Have no idea what else she has done but it sounds as if she's enjoying herself.
afab Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Mine said they were going to take duvets and pillows and snuggle up in a studio to watch it... How lovely! Everything is done so that they feel happy and snug!
dancingmuppet Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 That sounds lovely, dd will come back wanting to go to vocational school!
pas de chat Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Just had a text from dd to say they're watching Coppelia tonight. Have no idea what else she has done but it sounds as if she's enjoying herself. Thanks you letting me know, you half want to be a fly on the wall to see what fun they are having! Â We spoke to one of the boys teachers and he said they have a lot planned for them and he said they will learn a lot in a very short space of time. Â Looking forwards to Friday when she will no doubt ask the question about auditioning!
dancingmuppet Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I'd love to be a fly on the wall. Just had another text to say they learnt the hours dance from Coppelia.

Loulabelle Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 My dd has told me I will be watching a Contemporary class on Friday! What joy! Much as I love a bit of Contemporary, when I send her to a 'Ballet School' for a few days, I'd much rather watch her doing ballet!!
Karen Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Dd tells me there are groups A -F and she has no idea how they were allocated. She has done a ballet class which Robert Parker watched and then learned the hours dance from Coppelia. She has taken a pic of her timetable which I have asked her to mail, so may understand a bit more when I see it! All good so far!!

Loulabelle Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 And now I'm repeating myself!! Don't know how that posted twice, sorry! Â My dd said they are organised by age and alphabetically, not by ability.
straceydor Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 My dd is not staying over and is loving it. In group E.
Karen Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Mine's n F but if it's alphabetical, that fits, as we're 'W'!
Picturesinthefirelight Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 How old is your dd Karen. A girl from dds old school & dance scho is a W surname? Wonder if she's in the sane group. 1
