Central School of Ballet Holiday Intensives

Hi guys! Quick question... Does anybody have any experience of Central School of Ballet's holiday Intensives (especially the spring/Easter one)? 4 days at Central would cost about the same as 2 days of Dance Forward, so was wondering whether it was good quality. On that note, what about Dance Forward?

Can't comment on Central but thoroughly recommend Dance Forward. Excellent teaching from a variety of professional dancers. Well worth its price.

Don't know about the intensives but the Associates scheme is excellent and DD has done a couple of other fantastic events at Central

If you can do the days that Roberta Marquez and Federico Bonelli are teaching you will not be disappointed! Roberta is an amazing teacher!

Stephen Beagley is also fantastic, he has an amazing teaching style, very funny and charismatic.

The central courses are fabulous. The standard has always been very high when I attended and the teachers are exceptional, it's definitely worth it.

I did the dance day at Easter and the summer course with central and really enjoyed both, good mix of ballet/contemp/Pilates/rep etc. Happy to answer any other questions but would highly recommend! Xx

Can definitely recommend the Easter course at Central. Dd has done two and has loved them. The days are full and varied and on the last morning parents can come and watch the ballet class. If I remember correctly, last years included ballet, pointe for the girls, contemporary, jazz, character, Dalcroze and Pilates. The atmosphere is very welcoming and dd felt she learned loads.

Not sure of your age, but DD was one of the oldest in the younger group at Central Easter course last year. She did not find it very challenging or enjoyable and was quite surprised to be told to do,' a pretty ballerina walk from the corner' in her first ballet class.

Funnily enough, I seem to remember an associate teacher of dd's bemoaning the fact that dance teachers don't seem to teach their students how to do a proper ballet walk any more!

My DDs associates teacher once said that perfect/beautiful ballet walk is one of the hardest things to do

I agree Happymum. The simplest steps are often the hardest to get right????

When auditioning at top vocational dance schools, the panel are watching candidates at all times, a ballet walk is very important and has to look right.
