anondancer_15
Hi, I've just started uni in Leicester and just wondered if anyone knew the area and knew of any dance opportunities; drop in classes, associates, performance opportunities, youth dance companies, adult companies (I'm 18 so kinda can get into both atm), training schemes etc... Anything in or around the centre of Leicester would be wonderful, or even close by such as Nottingham as I know that's only one stop on the train! Thanks

taxi4ballet
There may be a local dance school who would like an extra assistant in the class to help with the little ones in the afternoons. It would give you some experience of helping to teach, always a good thing to have another string to your bow.

This would be perfect, I've done lots of that back at home so already have experience doing it, any ideas how I'd go about finding them?
taxi4ballet
Google 'dance schools in Leicester' or maybe contact the examining body of the syllabus you are familiar with for a list of teachers in the area (I know the RAD website has a search facility for example)
Jan McNulty
This would be perfect, I've done lots of that back at home so already have experience doing it, any ideas how I'd go about finding them? I would check the links given by Bluebird22 first and then perhaps look at Yell.com for schools in the local area if the linked schools don't work out. Or check the RAD directory and see which teachers are in the area and their associated schools. edited to add that Taxi and I were posting at the same time. Tatasmum
Hi anondancer, my daughter is studying creative writing and Literature. My 10 year old is the dancer in our family, we live in Derby but if I was near Leicester I would send my youngest to Dupont.
Tatasmum
This dance school looks really interesting, the Principal was taught by Eve Leveaux, the Principal of Derby Academy where my daughter attends. It's not far from DMU, maybe you could enquire about assisting her.. http://www.graceschoolofdance.co.uk/index.html
