  1. I found How to darn a pointe shoe, parts 1 and 2 from youtube very useful and quick to do
  2. Yikes - DD's inside leg is 34" - think I'll leave that for the moment !!
  3. Thanks for that - think she can use other leotards for the moment and dig out the black elastic belt that came with the Frees RAD leotard x
  4. She does indeed and to be honest I would rather let her choose another black one, than just buy from the order list without even seeing a picture x
  5. Thank you Encouraged, probably best to wait a little. Did she wear the belt ?
  6. I have been in a very similar teacher with DD. It was really hard, but she did move to another school away from her elderly first ballet teacher who she was so fond of. It was the right move ( but she is fortunate to have found, in my opinion, one of the best ballet teachers there is). She has come on so much (SA2 this year) but making that break is very painful. As a matter of interest, which area do you live in x
  7. DD is starting SA2 in September and I am looking at the uniform list. It does say the black leotard is optional and I am wondering what the others wear (DD has plenty of black leotards). Also is the waist elastic, the one that sometimes comes with leotards comes, about 1/2" wide ? Does anyone have the zip up sweatshirt or track suit bottoms because any advise on the fit would be great - DD is ultra skinny but has really long arms and legs x
  8. Rather than worrying, you are really best to talk to Dance East CAT staff directly, they really are very approachable x
  9. How about using the something along the line of the housekeeper in Tom and Jerry, plenty of scope there
  10. Thank you all - I'll take DD to the open day, but first hand experience from those that have done it is so useful
  11. Well, it's audition time next year and I am wondering how students at Tring cope with doing the Sixth Form Dance Course alongside A levels. Is it possible to study both well or does A level study compromise the dance aspect. We will go to the open day in October, but I would really appreciate hearing how others have managed this.
  12. Have no advice for you, but good luck with that x
  13. Yes they could all take in a water bottle and have a drink, windows were opened and fans were on etc. Nothing else could have been done, it was just one of those things - DD had sweat running into her eyes , they were all in the same boat so to speak, just unfortunate with the heat. Still good old British weather always does it's own thing !
  14. Oh well DD did AF at Battersea today in this heat, so let's hope it's good for all the girls, but they were struggling in the heat. It must affect things
  15. Worth thinking about - how long are the solos
  16. Dear me, DD is starting this process next term - such a big step, so many issues - accommodation, funding, living away at 16. I'm very excited for her, but at the same time, dreading it .....
  17. DD has a small bow under bun - navy for Intermediate, burgundy for Advanced Foundation - best ask teacher x
  18. Just have to dd that my DD has been with her wonderful ballet teacher for 18 months and we are so lucky - favoritism isn't part of her classes, just a dedication to bringing out the very best in every student, they all work against each other (work very hard) and encourage each other, such a pleasure to watch !!! Everyone should have that buzz and come home thinking that was good, something has been achieved instead of feeling frustrated and snarling into the kitchen sink (yep-have been guilty of that in the past) I know it has worked so well for us, but if anyone is unhappy enough with these issues to post on here about it there is a problem, so step back and look around, otherwise your DD may be demoralized enough to give up completely.
  19. Hi Yellowcar Encourage DD to apply for CAT schemes etc, you will look back and wish you had done it before . Good luck xx
  20. Hi Tutusrus Your DD is obviously talented to be where she is. Once she starts her CAT scheme (and hopefully JA), she will meet many more talented dancers, teachers and choreographers and there will be no clique/inner circle, she will make other relationships and not worry about forming a relationship with just one teacher. wish you all the very best for the future xx
  21. As it is our great British summer, you could use a paddling pool to swish it around in and then place it upside down on a whirly line to dry, agree with no fabric softener - good idea to remove any hoop - if it has one (but any tacking would have to be taken out) - don't think starch will work on net - far better to insert (or re-insert hoop) and tack (or re-tack) layers afterwards. Good luck x
  22. Hope everyone else's CAT's results are what they hoped for !
  23. Well done Clara to you and your DD !!!!! Best wishes for September, if she loves it as much as my DD, she will be a very happy girl! Which level is she in xx
  24. What grades or vocational exams are taken at full time vocational schools ?
  25. Need to do new passport photo for DD . RBS SA ask for a passport sized photo for this year, so wondering if the colleges ask for a photo with the application form (wondering how many copies to get)
