  1. My DD did the insight day too and had a lovely time. I think there was a morning and afternoon class as the lady talking about finance apologised to those whom she would have given the same speech too earlier - also there was just one older boy in the class. The class was also of mixed age and ability, DD was pleased to not be the tallest there. They all went through various exercises with harder versions for the older ones, but it was very much stressed that they are not looking to 'trick' anyone but are mainly looking for potential, someone that would benefit from their training scheme - also looking for musicality, artistry, physique and passion for dance.
  2. if anyone is fortunate enough to be offered more than one place, is it possible to wait for all results before deciding ?
  3. I'm sure you will enjoy your day, we did - if you have the same show - loved the drama on the bench, and the rest of course !
  4. Thinking of you - I'm sure he'll be fine, but I would feel just like you xxx
  5. Thanks afab - well that certainly explains why the charts are only for younger children
  6. I was just being curious and wondered what their requirements were for full time at 16
  7. I had a quick look at the height/weight charts but they are for younger children (unless I missed something). What are they looking for in a 16 year old.?
  8. DD and I really enjoyed today too and loved Tring Park School. I felt the strongest areas were the musical theatre, jazz and drama - the two doing those scenes on the bench were incredible. Lovely staff and students, with excellent facilities. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and I did feel DD would be safe and happy staying there. Great start to the open day/audition process for us
  9. Sorry that happened to you as well, but I am a bit relieved that it wasn't just me
  10. Has anyone downloaded the Central form ? When I printed it, the format is a bit odd and the very last page about ethnicity etc. was superimposed a little - would this be important, or is it just me being a bit rubbish on the computer ?
  11. My DD passed grade 1 piano (distinction) 2 years ago but gave up because of dancing commitments - wonder if that's worth a mention
  12. Central have posted their application forms and audition dates : Audition Dates Preliminary Auditions, UK27th October 2013 Dance School of Scotland, Glasgow 14th December 2013 Central School of Ballet, London 9th February 2014 Northern Ballet, Leeds 15th February 2014 Central School of Ballet, London 29th March 2014 Overseas Applicants, Central School of Ballet, London Final Auditions29th March 2014 Final Audition, Central School of Ballet, London 30th March 2014 Final Audition, Central School of Ballet, London
  13. I just had a strange G symbol - Oh well will try again later, cross with it now
  14. There really must be an easy answer, being optimistic now - and yes time to hit the pillow and refresh the brain (hopefully) x
  15. No no no LinMM - it must be easier than this !! I noticed Spanner and pony has a picture of her faithful hound (mine is asleep tummy up on the sofa) , so it can be done x
  16. Hi LinMM I'm glad I am not alone - feel slightly less dense now ! I can do it on Facebook, but then any picture on there there is an option to make it a profile picture, so I wonder if I try and copy and paste a picture on here then I might have that option. Others must find it hard as most of us are faceless blobs, very few pictures x
  17. I'm sure I am being incredibly dense, but if anyone can enlighten me I will be so grateful. I decided to post a profile picture, instead of being a shapeless blob, as most of us are.I tried a nice picture of tree frogs from the internet and even a silhouette of DD from my album - either "file too large" or just a little square came up, so feeling a bit cross with it at the moment (my fault I am sure). Not many photos on here, I have noticed, perhaps i am not alone xx
  18. She is gorgeous - well done ! I haven't even managed to put a profile picture on - nothing happened apart from a silly square in the middle of "file too big"
  19. Haha wrestle and bark !!!!! My older girls had classes in Grays with a wonderful teacher, who also had a school in Barling. We later moved to Suffolk and my youngest DD has a fantastic RAD teacher (not sure if I am allowed to be more precise, so i will just say in a mid Suffolk village)
  20. DD has titania in black and it is a beautiful leotard, her ballet teacher thinks it suits her too x
  21. There are so many useful tips here - thank you everyone. I looked at the Carla leotard from arabesque, which has lovely simple lines and comes in a variety of colours, but is unline. DD feels more comfortable with a leotard with front lining. It brought back memories of my older DD's dancing at Thurrock and Barling and going to a shop in Westcliff that made arabesque leotards -- I emailed arabesque and yes, they still make the leotards and can easily put in a front liner or bra liner if required - good result
  22. Thank you all for your advice - DD is 15 and will be auditioning for classical ballet, leg length isn't an issue as she has 34:" inside leg. Sounds like a good idea to use the same leotard for the photos, just waiting for all the application forms to be posted, to see which positions are required, so the photos can all be done in one session. I will let her choose the colour then if she loves the leotard, hopefully she'll feel more relaxed, will just make sure it isn't too flashy x
  23. Any thoughts about the best type of leotard to wear for auditions to vocational school. I would have thought a simple style is best, but does colour matter ?
  24. Hi Hairbelles. This is a very confusing topic! I am under the impression that if a DADA award is made, child tax credits and child benefit stop, is this the case for MDS too or does it depend on whether A levels are being taken. The rules do seem very tough.
