    Central finals

Spoke to DD again about the callback - they were told some would be called back for more information - they stretched and did a few plies, stretched feet - she said it was a bit physio like. They were told that it didn't mean anything, so I don't think anyone who wasn't called back should worry - it could be the call backs that need to worry for all I know ! There were about 30 in each class, I also know a 2 girls who had a class on the Saturday, also there was a boys final and have no idea how it worked with the international students, but it does add up to an awful lot of finalists, so not too hopeful really. Yes stressedmum - all far too stressful xx

    Central finals

Central finals done - would be lovely if it was a yes for DD as the no from Elmhurst was very disappointing ! She had a callback alongside about 15 others from auditions today. Not reading anything into that as the class was told it means nothing, just another look at some who were nether yes or no girls - they just had a stretching class. Was lovely to chat to some of the other mums during the wait. Such an ordeal for us mum's, we are all very anxious as our DD's have put so much into this and we hate to think of them being disappointed and the wait for the dreaded letter to drop through the door is pure torture - they said that would be about 10 days ! Bring on BTUK audition and then all is finished - no doubt DD will be the tallest one there again, can't help much, but that's just the way she is !!
  3. It probably costs an arm and a leg or as much as 6 tutus - I like to fold it when watching a film (straight into the machine) and I don't notice the time - apart from the top layer, always do that by hand -I do that with the ironing too That dyeing looked brilliant, bubble bubble toil and trouble
  4. Hi all Enjoyed watching this so thought I would share. Not sure if this is the right place http://www.pointemagazine.com/blogs/tutus/inside-creation-iconic-tutu
  5. Wishing all the candidates good luck for this afternoon, wish DD and I could be there - especially a certain non vocational young lady doing the Diamond Fairy variation - her first time dancing in a tutu !!!
  6. Perhaps they are trying to find out who can 'dig deep' and bring out their wallets before look at shuffling the awards around, but yes all this will go on for a few more weeks
  7. DD and her friend are non vocational - I haven't heard of any vocational students in this xx
  8. Have just received a letter from Tring, backing up the email, saying how well DD did and she is on reserve list for DADA award BUT if I could pay the fees then all I need to do is ring up and she has a place - as if ! Maybe I'll buy a lottery ticket, a black cat crossed my path half hour ago
  9. Hi stressed mum - Good luck with that ! Yes DD has Central finals, haven't had the date 29/30th yet and Elmhurst finals next week, how strange it all is . I wonder if anyone else who had phsio but not the award is high on the list like your DD. Honestly, sometimes it seems like a whodunnit , following all the clues - we should all chill- I should practice what I preach lol x
  10. My DD on reserve list so we'll just have to wait and see - last year someone phoned Tring and were told where her daughter was on the waiting list ( but perhaps ignorance is bliss !) DD was told at audition they took 12-14 off waiting list last year, so obviously quite a few that were offered DADA's went elsewhere. Did your DD get a phsio callback stressedmum, was wondering if those that had physio are high on waiting list, only a guess - you could always call them to see where she is . Good luck x
  11. Also, as a mother of 5 daughters - I never had a set of scales in the house, they are all healthy girls, so i didn't want hopping on and off the scales to become an issue xx
  12. Dear Swanprincess - hang on in there, you have done so well ! One of my older daughter's friends had anorexia a few years ago and battled through it with lots of love and support from her family. She now has 2 lovely little boys and has kept it at bay, but it was such a battle ! Very recently, we have watched a young lady that we know dance - she is very talented, a beautiful dancer - she has always been of slight build, but nicely so. Now, she is so terribly thin, she just looks like she will snap. I find, that instead of looking at her beautiful dancing, I am looking at her physique, not enjoying it at all as I just feel concerned for her. You are doing all the right things, being a walking stick is not attractive at all and i am sure most responsible ballet schools are looking at it that way. Carry on with your brave battle and just remember that NOTHING is as important as your health. Take care and sending lots of love xxx
  13. DD was runner up in the senior award, she , the winner and musicality award winner are non vocational, as I know them - and yes, huge thanks to our brilliant teacher
  14. RAD East of England Ballet Awards and ISTD Ballet Awards took place over this last weekend, certainly mainly non vocational
  15. Yes, DD is SA but form was signed by her local dance teacher, what a shame she was too ill to doit yesterday, it would have been lovely to take part, but huge congratulations to all that got to the semis and best of luck for today x
  16. Congratulations Angel - DD was going, but has been unwell with temperature and cold so unfortunately couldn't - hope the other SA's did well xx
  17. Hi - it's 1 minute 30 seconds If you go to this page : http://www.rad.org.uk/achieve/the-genee/genee-2014-1/genee-dance-challenge-2014 you can download the info pack DD haven't done it before done it before either. I'm sure it will be a lovely experience - 2 days of classes and the chance to dance in such a nice venue
  18. Must say, I thought that was all done and dusted when there was no physio for DD (it probably is anyway). In a way it was a relief to come away and think that she had a good day as she was happy with her audition but 'knowing' she wasn't successful meant no stalking the postie and wondering. I think that's still the case so I will leave the poor man alone, especially as it took forever to hear about the finals - best to move on and think about her other 2 finals. I think we all hate this waiting, so hard especially with exams ! I really wish the schools could do all their auditions over about 3/4 weeks in July. They could then get on with their exams. It would be worth overseas students travelling to do it all in one hit and also the vocational students wouldn't be disrupted by auditions.
  19. DD was the same - no physio so that's how I take it - although they did say they took 12 off the reserve list last year as a lot take places at other schools instead x
  20. So pleased for you - wishing you the very best xx
  21. I looked around too, but like you, can't really remember how many beds there are. It does say on the website that there are houses owned by Tring in the town for pupils in their final year, would this be the 3rd year, if so , I am thinking that both upper and lower sixth live on site. Oh well, i guess it's not long to Tuesday !
  22. Does anyone know how many boarding beds there are available to sixth form students - I understand a few stay with host families either because of too few beds or not being able to afford the boarding costs. Also, does anyone know how long it is until we get a decision from Tring ? Thing is DD's last final audition is right at the end of March. If Tring did happen to make her an offer, does anyone know how long they would wait for an answer, I would hate her to make a decision before hearing all her results, but then wouldn't want her to turn down a place and then regret it. Or do people just say yes to all and then decide at the end, this must have happened many times before.
  23. and very noisy first thing in the morning, as I found when visiting my daughter - love them though x
  24. I do Julie - another wait it's not till the end of March !
  25. It's a yes for DD - very happy house, I can feel the wine coming out later
