  1. DD knows some girls at Tring who are doing amazingly well, and it is beautiful - I'm sure she'll love it x
  2. DD shares a twin studio at Student Castle which is about £165 per week with no other bills apart from food. That's quite competitive in the area and a lot of Central and Urdang students are there, but those rooms do go quickly.
  3. DD is Central first year and they have no knowledge whatsoever about the auditions for this September, staff don't discuss confidential matters like this with students. Last year Central final result were postal - I can well remember seeing postie approach the house with it clutched in his hand !! Results did come out in batches, which was horrid for those waiting (DD was in the first batch, which was so lucky for us), but this does happen with other schools too. One girl in DD's year was on reserve list until August, but she is doing so incredibly well, one of the best, so it really doesn't matter when it happens as long as it does ! It's far too easy to try and work out an order of things in the selection process - I did last year, which made it even more stressful and most of my assumptions were wrong. I have said this before, that I wish somehow auditions could be adjusted so that they don't interfere so much with the GCSE process - our DC's will focus on their dreams first, it's only natural ! Oh audsjcanuck, what wonderful news - doesn't it show that things aren't set in tablets of stone. Huge congratulations !!!
  4. The Easter Break won't help the post I'm sad to say - hope the horrid wait is over soon Good luck xx
  5. Wishing you and little DD the very best xx
  6. If she isn't on an associate scheme already, have you thought about trying that, or have you got a CAT scheme within sensible travelling distance. It just adds an extra dimension to things, plus lots of enjoyment
  7. I'm sure it really isn't anything to worry about . All the auditions are finished now, just the last bit of waiting - Good Luck to all xx
  8. DD had a callback and she was successful, but they did say it didn't mean anything at all - perhaps they just want to check some of them over again, who knows Anyway, best not to worry if DD doesn't get callback as I'm sure it won't make any difference Good luck all
  9. Oh dear Regattah, I'm so very sorry - sending love and prayers at least it was your DD's last audition Wishing you the very best x
  10. Thanks for that - something to look forward to
  11. Not quite sure how this all works - it's being televised in April - so do they show all the category finals (hope so) ? Do the winners of the category finals then go into one big final and a winner/second place/third place is selected ? Wish it had had more publicity - its on one of the smaller channels and showing major talent in our country ! We have to poke up with Jeremy Kyle and watching horrible people swearing at shouting on prime television - this makes me really cross ! Why don't they prompt our talented young dancers more and give them the recognition they deserve
  12. I think I just need to get used to the difference and I'm really happy that she is at Central. I have 9 grandchildren, the boys are into sport, but I did earmark one of my grand daughters for ballet. Thing is she wants to be a boy and play football - everything has to be the green and yellow colours of Norwich City !!!!!!!! BUT she is only 7, so there is still time ................
  13. But we will never watch class again, will we - I really appreciate, the classes i was able to watch, but it was really abut location. Once a DC is in vocational school, it isn't possible to have parents watching, unless invited...................................................................................................................................................................... BUT I just can't wait till next Friday when I will watch DD in her end of term class at Central with my best friend - BRING IT ON :) And following that, I would like to wish all DC's that are attending Central Finals the very best of luck XXXXXX
  14. The thing I miss most is watching her dance Because we are very rural and spent hours travelling to ballet lessons, before she started at vocational school, I was able to watch DD dance for a few hours every week There were only lovely mothers there (and the odd father), lovely students and a wonderful ballet teacher. We were so lucky Only watch her at the end of term at the moment, which is amazing to see how hard they all work and how DD has progressed The journey has moved on to another stage, but I'm so pleased that she's loving what she is doing I could always get on with the housework
  15. Good luck all I seem to think their own audition with the others , but that could be me having a silly moment lol ????
  16. Was there just one day of finals - last year it was over 2 days ?
  17. Hi DD was in the oldest group and in week 2 xx
  18. DD had a yes from ENBS summer school by email a few days ago - she's turned it down as she is going to Natalia Kremen (same week)
  19. Lol Haggis, just goes to show they all look for something different ! Enjoy your next journey xxx
  20. When DD was on her CAT scheme, there were some students that left in the last year or two because they decided a dance career wasn't for them and although they enjoyed the classes, it was fairer to leave those places for others that wished to pursue that dream -. Admittedly they were not tied into GCSE's on the scheme.
  21. I would like to see vocational lower schools publish the destination of their graduates in the same way that upper schools do. I would also like to see the numbers of non vocational students that gain places at upper schools (as opposed to vocational students and those from abroad), whether they have attended associate classes, CAT schemes or have had help from MDS. It would be useful to see how government funding has helped talented students.
