    JA Uniform

Hello Moka, I would ring them and ask their advice. 4' 9'' is quite tall. The bottoms might just look a bit clown pantsy because they are wide, but DD loves them.

    JA Uniform

Hello abitworn out, They are quite big. I ordered age 7-8 for my 9 nearly 10 year old and it is still quite big on her (she is very small though). I surpose they are sized for both girls and boys, or normal sized non ballet children. I also ordered the track suit bottoms in the same size, they are huge, will just about get away with it. They are about the right lenght but have quite wide legs. You can ring the place up and they were really helpfull.

    JA Uniform

Hi Taximom, Thanks for the idea, but I live in the middle of know where ( there is no gas in our valley) I have an open fire. There is a lot of lightening tonight though, the plug socket just exploded. I best go sort that out.

    JA Uniform

THANK YOU Spooky! I will do that, looks better quality than the usual ones. I am scared of the match thing, but I will do it, I always seem to be the one with the ribbons on fire!

It will be Manchester. Do you tie the ribbon before you cross the plaits?

    JA Uniform

Sorry maybe silly question about uniform. (and a bit boring) just want to sort everything out so I can put it all away into a neat draw for September. The belt, it is big enough to go around child twice. How short should I trim it? Do I put a press stud first, where the belt first meets and the hook and eye further on right at the end? Should I fold over and stich the ends to make it neater? How long should the hair ribbons be? They are quite long. Do I tie them around the top of the pigtail before I then loop round the plaits and put a net over it? Thank you!

    Lake District

I live here (lucky me!) It really is the best place in the world. Although I don't always think that in February
  10. Hi, DD's little friend got a no for year 5 Mum asked, do they have a waiting list for Elmhurst or is it a straight yes/no?
  11. Hello Nana's Taxi, They said Friday, Monday or Tuesday because someone was going on maternity leave. We have not heard anything, neither has any one that I know that went. Won't be long
  12. I think they said 1 - 1.5 weeks. Did you Audition at Manchester this week? If so they said this Friday or next Monday /Tuesday, so not long.
  13. Well, I photocopied the dates for school and handed them in. One reception lady was really pleased and encouraging " wow isn't it great" the other said " you are only allowed 10 days off a year" and not so encouraging, I did explain it is classed as education not a day off. Anyway, I was a bit apprehensive this morning when I went to see the Head (also had to tell him she needed another afternoon off for a ballet exam) But I shouldn't have worried he was lovely and said he thought it is very important to support her in this and they will go out of their way to help FEW!! She will be able to do Maths and English in the morning but will then have to set off. She will catch up with any work and I am super strict about school work, so should be fine. I feel very relieved now.
  14. Thanks Legseleven, DD is so excited. Will have to work out tonight how many Fridays she will miss and go and talk to the head master. She has longer holidays, so might not be too bad. She finishes this Thursday so I will have to get a move on! I am sure he will be OK about it, just a bit worried because she is really academic and has an academic scholarship to attend. Although the school is big on ( and very good at) educating the whole child so fingers crossed. DD would like to spend every hour of her life dancing! Sometimes I wish she would just stop for a minute! Port de bra at the dinner table, split leaps while I am ironing
  15. Yes big surprise for us too. Did not realise we would have to miss so many Fridays off school/work. We are at 13.15 but will have to set off at least 2 hours before and hope for no traffic. I thought that was maybe just the Sunday time but there is no other time on the form, so must be both. Am I missing something? I seem to remember someone saying they had to leave school early to get there, I wrongly assumed that they would start about 4. Hope the head teacher is in a good mood when I tell him ekkk. Quite a late start, I think the other centres start earlier.
  16. That is not fair! I don't get home until late tonight. abitwornout does it say what time are the Friday JA lessons at manchester? Thanks
  17. We have Two little friends auditioning at Manchester. E-mail came this morning. Mine was in my spam, so check. My friends little DD's was in inbox fine.
  18. Hi, We don't have anything yet. I was just wondering if anyone knew what time the Manchester JA Friday lessons started. Just trying to work out what time we will have to set off/miss school as we live in the sticks miles and miles away! Thanks.
  19. Hi, In RAD each candidate can do a different dance. I would ask the teacher why she has choosen this one for your DD. It may be better for her this time? If you have a private lesson it should be fine to work on a dance it in that. Also all children should learn all of the dances and then choose which one they would like to present. They shouldn't just learn one anyway.
  20. So the acceptance letter is now in the post, reordered, first class, tracked! I have told everyone I have met today including the post lady, the bank lady, the garage man and some random men in the street. (So I hope they don't change their minds) Still not told teacher. DD wants to tell her so we will go and find her tomorrow! She is one of the few people who will really know what this means to her. I don't think the garage man was that interested! Tut tut what does he know. Congratulations to your friend hoobydigger, inside information? We no nothing about anything! Some one said you get loads of forms to fill in later. Does anyone know what they all are?
  21. Thank you! It still doesn't seem real! Letter gives only a week to reply, so some Swl's might not have long to wait.
  22. Hi, I saw twiglets post at work this afternoon.... It made me feel sick, knowing the earliest we could get home would be 9.30pm ish after Gymnastics. And it would be sat there on the door mat! Although our post usually takes an extra few days. Tried not to think about it, but couldn't not. DD got SWL last year year 4, when she was 8. She is so desperate to get in and really needs some training at a higher level. Would it be a SWL, or maybe a No? IT was a YES. I can not believe it!! I am so proud of her. I have read the letter about 30 times it definitely say's yes. It is for Manchester. We have rung everyone! danced around the room, hugged, kissed. Although can't get in touch with her ballet teacher, she will be so pleased. Good luck to everyone waiting, waiting is like Chinese torture
  23. Hi, My DD did her RAD Primary exam on her own and she was sooo tiny, in a studio she had never even seen miles away from where we live.( We had terrible floods and our exam session was cancelled)the studio was floating! and she was also only one ready. So we joined someone else's. She was fine, enjoyed it in fact. If given the option she would take every exam on her own, she is always number 1, pink lady, for every exam, so does everything at the front/first anyway. She does not like anyone copying her. She is working out the numbers for the next exam to see if she can go on her own! they have to go in divisions of 4 for RAD.
  24. We are very jealous! That is great. We struggle to get them for exams ( we do live in the middle of nowhere though) He comes from 2.5 hours away. Our lessons are already quite expensive I dread to think how much they would be with a pianist on top.
