I know of students at both Durham and Cardiff Universities who have continued with their dancing, They had passes Advanced 1 and in some cases Advanced 2 before going to University.

My grandaughter did the Rambert Summer School which was excellent and the demonstration at the end of the week was breathtaking. Great opportunity to learn contemporary technique and rep and the teacher was wonderful, highly energetic and enthusiastic.

I I also phoned them, first time was told it would be here in two hours( it wasn't) and then this morning when still not here got a very helpful lady who sent me it via her computer which wasn't part of the automated system. No problem booking on line at all but lengthy waits in phone queue for queries and yes Anne the music is wonderful just wish they could improve the quality in some places(assuming it wasn't my phoneline).

What I would look for is sound teaching of technique but above all a passion for dance and an ability to fire this is in their students and encourage them to be the best possible dancer they can. My son was fortunate enough to study under Anatole Grigoriev, a wonderful and inspirational teacher and my granddaughter has been fortunate to find an equally wonderful teacher who is a constant source of inspiration to her.

Our doctor had twins who danced and suggested I sent our 3 year old daughter to ballet classes as she have various health problems and she felt ballet would be beneficial. She adored it from the word go. Her teacher persuaded our son at the age of 9 to have a go. They both have gone on to have careers in dance.

Corrrect placement also seems to go out the window with pupils who are intent on getting their legs as high as possible!

I can vouch for excessive hairspray in dressing rooms setting the fire alarms off, it happened at Richmond Festival last year.

Absolutely right to say it would be her decision, all we can do is support their passion in whatever way we can
