  1. I see that the International Ballet Galas in Japan have resumed, I guess Vadim Muntagirov might have picked up another Rudolf here in London had he not been engaged there. Anyway, I was shocked and disappointed to see the name of "Svetlana Zakharova, Principal of the Bolshoi Theatre" among the invited guests. https://www.t-bunka.jp/en/stage/16562/ Her smiling happy face on this Instagram post from Manuel Legris ........ https://www.instagram.com/p/ClZvUGpS88D/ How can she be given an artistic platform as if nothing is wrong - as Olga Smirnova said in the Dance Europe interview released yesterday, explaining why she left the Bolshoi and Russia "if you represent the Bolshoi Theatre, you represent the country"
  2. I can't find an announcement but Dance Europe have posted this video on their YT channel.
  3. There is a cast change on the RoH website for tomorrow evening - Yasmine Naghdi replaces Laura Morera.

  5. Ah thanks for asking. It's a first I think, the usual standing were available for the Swan Lake gala.
  6. From this on YT I think the original order was Stiefel, Kobborg, Corella, and Tsiskaridze - and not the order of the names in the YT title. Interesting given that Corrales was originally cast in the "Danish" role.
  7. Looking for one stalls circle standing for this performance if anyone has a spare please message me. Thank you
  8. Corrales was originally scheduled to dance Albrecht in Giselle in Rome with Osipova last week but I noticed that Tissi danced instead.
  9. Me neither, just links to the companies youtube channels. The Bayerische in Munich doesn't work for me - does anyone know if the company actually took part ?
  10. Sorry mods please delete I didn't see Angela's post further down.
  11. I thought David Soares was a very elegant dancer when I saw him at the Bolshoi (not live, just via youtube) so will be interested to read your reports if you go to see him Sabine.
  12. Why are you posting this ? These dancers chose to leave Munich and go to Russia after the invasion of Ukraine .......
  13. I don't know where you got the idea from that Macaulay confines himself solely to liking pretty, idealised versions of ballet ? And to suggest that he hated Rojo's Raymonda (a pretty, sanitised depiction of war if you ask me) because it reminded him "that not everyone lives a privileged, comfortable and lucky life" just doesn't make sense. This is an interesting look back on his years in New York as the New York Times chief dance critic. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/28/arts/dance/alastair-macaulay-dance-farewell.html Just in case you're wondering, I'm not a friend of his, I've never met him and I dislike the sometimes barbed tone in his reviews but he's been a dance critic for 40 years and is hugely knowledgeable and I think it's unnecessarily derogative to make such unsubstantiated comments.
  14. He does like new work though and work by women choreographers, I remember him eulogising Pam Tanowitz's Four Quartets a few years ago.
  15. I don't think the review is any of those things. He didn't like it (neither did I) and he tells us why. I think his reviews tend not to be generous towards the RB but then IMO other reviewers are over generous.
