  1. It was a wonderful evening. I thoroughly enjoyed all the performances but I was surprised at the beauty of the BalletBoyz. It was the first time I'd seen them and the way they moved was just beautiful! Steven McRae's tap was definitely the show stealer though - very slick and thoroughly entertaining. As I'm also a little partial to Michael Ball's voice, he and Imelda Staunton provided the perfect variety to have me leaving the Theatre with a huge smile on my face
  2. Ha Ha...you're so right Thanks Along for the Ride Mum
  3. I used a hair down shot in school uniform for the little head and shoulders shot on the application form as it shows a different type of photo. I based that on the fact that they've got all the ballet position photos in leo with hair in bun so they've got the aide memoire from those. Don't know if I did the right thing now...but sent the form off last week
  4. Thank you Balleteacher, she is always happy when she's dancing. I only took her to ballet class when she was 3 because she was so shy.... little did I realise how much she would come to love it...long may it last :-)
  5. The Degas leotard that I just bought for DD was a 12a and it fits her perfectly. She is a slightly taller than average 10 year old and very lean. I would say that it would fit average sized girls up to age 12 but very petite girls of DD's age would probably want a 10a.
  6. Aha! Thanks LinMM - here it is - little DD looking very happy in her new leo! #
  7. Can someone tell me if you just see the photo or whether you see all my profile on fb now? Should probably take it off if it opens up my whole profile
  8. I'll give it a go... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201769873624368&set=a.1131051432285.2020927.1107238348&type=1&theater I can't upload the actual photo but I've tried the link to my facebook page where I posted it earlier tonight Don't know if it will work....
  9. How funny! I guess it must be confusing sometimes... Don't know if we're allowed to post photos but had some fun with DD this afternoon taking some cute little snaps in her new leotard....am I allowed to post mods?
  10. Just to say the parcel from Just Ballet arrived today and DD is thrilled with her new leotard! She's wearing it now It fits like a glove! Thank you Just Ballet x
  11. Thanks Hfbrew...it's lovely to see all the positive comments - it remains to be seen whether I'll even have to worry about homesickness but I gain so much courage to let my DD fly and try for her dreams from reading about all your DC's experiences (good and bad) and I think that why Ribbons comment did trip me up a little earlier on... I suppose the reality is we all try to do our best for our children but there are never any guarantees and as long as my DD can trust me to always be right behind her, supporting her, that's the best I can do Waiting for those audition dates to come through now.....(oh and DD's lovely new leo )
  12. Crickey, not sure we needed to see this post...."damned if we do and damned if we don't" springs to mind. I actually don't like this post at all
  13. I think it's a great idea Nana Lily....not sure if you saw a post I made a couple of weeks ago about reading last year's White Lodge Lower School Thread (all 16 pages of it!!) but I'm always searching for tips and guidance. I do use the search box to try and find information from old threads but it isn't always easy and I do think that when you're "experienced hands" it can seem like newbies are asking the same old questions....but I love the fact that we can call on your knowledge and experience...especially when we're going crazy wondering about the possible routes / processes / outcomes. Perhaps a pinned thread for F.A.Q.'s could be a way to go - but I'm not sure how it would be achieved without major efforts of the mods to put together a comprehensive list....unless a pinned thread entitled " Popular Discussions" was created and links were listed to the audition process threads, etc where the same information is sought year on year? I know sometimes the mods answer a question with a link to a thread so maybe a pinned thread just with the links could be the way to go (maybe changing some thread titles to be clearer?) Anyway, I am grateful to all the regular posters who keep on sharing the knowledge
  14. I know what you mean - I work from home and I leave the forum open on my desktop too Exciting but scary times ahead. Good luck to your DD x
  15. What year is your DD auditioning for LAB?
  16. Yep! We went for the light turquoise DD doesn't know I actually added it to the order (I told her it was too expensive) so so she thinks she's just getting the light blue and burgundy ones. But she was oooing and ahhhing over it and she's going to be a very happy bunny when it arrives
  17. Just ballet - I've just placed a rather extravagant order for a leotard from you for my DD to use for her auditions....I also ordered some of your sale ones for colour choice but she fell in love with the Degas one so hopefully it will fit her, suit her and bring her luck!
  18. That's brilliant to hear - we've been thinking about you too Would be absolutely amazing if DD was fortunate enough to get a place for next September x
  19. Going off topic now but how's your DD getting on Along for the Ride Mum?
  20. Hi Billyelliott, posting some "virtual" support! Hopefully, it's just the transition period and things will settle into a happy routine. I know it's not the same but a friend of mine had a rotten time when her daughter went to University (older I know). My friend missed her daughter so much and was really hurt that her daughter never seemed to want to talk to her on the phone but would happily talk to her Dad. Months later, the daughter confided to her Mum that talking to her Mum was just too difficult because she missed her so much to begin with but she didn't feel the same homesickness for her Dad because she was used to him working away occasionally so it didn't trigger the homesickness. After those first few months, everything went back to normal and Mum and Daughter were thick as thieves again! Hope this helps a little.
  21. I'm taking my DD too - she went to week 2 of the Summer School this year - really looking forward to it, there's a fantastic line up
  22. A Nottingham florist did a similar thing last year....but actually offered a discount for EYB parents which was a clever idea but still expensive (we took our own gifts from local florist)
