  1. Thanks everyone...you've all given the same advice I would have given if it wasn't me being neurotic!
  2. OK, advice needed now....am panicking about shoes! DD has a lovely pair of canvas split soles that fit her feet like gloves but they're a little dirty. She also has leather full soles, only very slightly marked. I bought her new leather split soles and leather full soles for her auditions but both new pairs seem just a little roomy - certainly not snug although not huge either. So what do we do....wear the slightly worn but lovely looking canvas, go traditional with the slightly worn leather or wear the new leather for the presentation aspect? Help....we've been changing shoes and pointing toes for the last half hour and can't decide!!
  3. Will do Good luck to everyone else auditioning tomorrow too
  4. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness....DD's audition for Elmhurst is tomorrow.......Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness! That's all!
  5. Wishing him a continued successful and complete recovery
  6. Yes - Lin, there were very few children there last year - mainly Friends of White Lodge - worth a trip if you can
  7. We took our DD to this last year and it was great to watch the class but we didn't get to tour the school which was a shame. DD was thrilled just to be at "White Lodge" and to touch the finger of the bronze Margot Fonteyn statue in the main house
  8. Sorry for your DD straceydor - hope she isn't too disappointed and fingers crossed for her remaining auditions x
  9. That's great news! Does that officially qualify as the first good news post for the 2014 intake? Congratulations
  10. Good luck to your DD Dancing2003 and to everyone else auditioning today or waiting for results
  11. Gosh....I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy now I've got to add my appreciation of you all too - the forum uniquely brings together knowledge, experience and huge support which is so valuable to us all. (Plus, I've even ventured into a couple of the other forums now too! )
  12. DD and I spent a couple of hours thoroughly enchanted at the Hippodrome last night - lovely performances and you are so right about the gorgeous sets Janet - very opulent, delivering you straight into the magic! My DD attends weekly classes and rehearsals with Midland Theatre Ballet at the BRB studios and for weeks we've seen the costumes hanging on rails so it was fantastic to finally see them being worn on stage DD's favourite was the White Cat costume - she asked me if she could have a costume like that for her next Character dance!
  13. Hi Robin64, a couple of girls from my DD's dance school went up there this Summer and said it was great. Another ex-pupil of DD's dance school, who is studying at Bird, also went up as a chaperone and all reports are that it is excellent. I don't have personal experience but it is called "The Dance Summer School" and this is the link to the website http://www.thedancesummerschool.co.uk/index.html They do classical ballet, contemporary and jazz so good all rounder. Hope this helps
  14. Just echoing all the sentiments here CeliB, wishing your DS a full and speedy recovery and peace of mind for you x
  15. We took DD to an Open Day at Tring today - and we were really impressed - from the welcome on arrival, to the delightful sixth formers who gave us our tour, the Head, Deputy Head and Head Girl & Boy talks right through to the 45 minute show that showcased some talented children across Dance, MT and Music. An excellent insight into what the school can offer
  16. The rest of the audition dates have been listed on Tring's website now - there's one more Junior Dance audition added for November, plus one in January and one in February. Funding auditions are now up to
  17. I only saw the bit about taking the degage on both sides at the last minute too. I didn't put tights on though as I think bare legs would be fine (they ask for bare legs for the audition). I had my audition date and confirmation through today - 18th November...eek!
  18. I had an email today saying they wouldn't be sending out audition confirmations until next week at the earliest.
  19. Yes, good luck to everyone auditioning tomorrow.
  20. Wow! Spannerandpony, you've been a busy bee on here today - it must have been quite a job setting these threads up and finding appropriate links, etc. Thank you
  21. Hi, I spoke to Tring about Audition dates, because I'm taking DD to the Open Day this Friday (4th October) and didn't want to have to go 2 days running with the first audition date for tomorrow. I was told that there will be more dates going up so don't worry about trying to rush into one of the two October dates. My DD couldn't do the 15th either as she's on a school trip that week so I was just advised to put a sticky note on the audition form so they can allocate a later date for us.
  22. Made me feel happy just watching it
