  1. My DD attends two vocational schemes I don’t think it’s a problem I think it’s down to an individual child and whether they can cope. I know lots of children that do both JAs and YD. I would say your DD is doing a similar amount of dance to my DD. I would agree with BellaF I think who ever spoke to you was trying to put you off. I would say go for it especially if your child is keen. Good luck 🤞
  2. You will definitely get a feel of the schools by attending an open day, even though this years were on line we were able to gauge a gut feeling of which school suited my DD best and thankfully she has got a place. Try and do as many audition workshops as you can as well. I am sure there will still be some on zoom. We used a lady called Sarah Toner and she was brilliant I would recommend.
  3. We have just been through the vocational application process for my DD and I can honestly say it has been the most stressful but amazing process of my life! I did however really enjoy spending quality time with her attending finals. I think in a usual year both RBS and Elmhurst have an open day to attend they are usually at the school and they are usually in the autumn term maybe half term. We were planning on prelims for elmhurst from nov/Dec time and RBS in Jan. My advice is to definitely attend the open days if you can and apply to as many schools as you can afford. Good luck to the year 5s who will be applying next year.
  4. My DD isn’t at the Hull centre she attends in Devon. We applied last year during lockdown and heard back very quickly. I have been so impressed with the scheme and my DD has loved every moment. They were so accommodating during lockdown when online lessons clashed with my DDs other associate class and let her join another group from another centre. Like others have said the classes are more challenging than other associate classes but classes are usually assigned on ability so most in the class are at the same level. My DD off to vocational school as well in September so won’t be continuing but I would really recommend. Good luck to your DD x
  5. Me too, I would not of thought of a stamp. They are reasonably priced as well. Thanks for the advice x
  6. That’s so funny and something I would probably have done. I hadn’t thought of labelling socks! I have always used the sew in labels wouldn’t they be itchy in socks and wouldn’t laundry pens wash out. Anyone have any suggestions? I guess DC will need about 7 pairs of ballet socks!
  7. This is amazing my DD is also very messy! Thanks for all your amazing tips glad to hear there are room checks and tick charts. Definitely going to get my DD to be more independent she does do her own hair and bed already. But hadn’t thought about sewing and sorting washing.
  8. My DD is due to take hers this term as well and I was worried about her not being with her peers. I think I may let her take her exam at least I know there is someone in a similar situation x
  9. Just to let you all know you tube allows you to watch the video in double speed. So having only half your video watched doesn’t mean they only watched half as it will only show the time watched ie half of the video duration if watched on double time. My daughter auditioned for WL and Elmhurst this year and got to both finals with only half the audition video being watched. Good luck with your results. Do keep trying if it’s a not yet my DD has had many nos and SWL and now has a place at Elmhurst for September.
  10. Fingers crossed for you I went to the practice manager as I knew receptionist would say it wasn’t possible.
  11. Glad to hear it’s not a new request for this year. My practice has quoted £86 or £132 depending on how long it takes or which fee my GP decides to charge. But just glad they have agreed to complete seeing we are still in a pandemic.
  12. I have spoken to our GP Practice Manager this morning about the Health Form and have made an in person appointment for my DD to complete. So it is possible there is a charge though. Xx
  13. My DD was only offered a place of the wait list yesterday and we looked at this today. I was hoping someone would ask this question as it looks very detailed and I am sure my GP practice will charge for it as you would definitely need an appointment to complete. I am going to call my practice on Tuesday. I will update this thread when I have an answer. X
  14. I have not had an email yet. I guess it will be Tuesday now.
  15. Are we to late to apply? I can’t find any audition details can any one help I have emailed the contact on the website.
  16. Really hoping there is movement keeping everything crossed x
  17. My DD is on the Wait List she’s at school and doesn’t know yet. I am keeping everything crossed that there is some movement as she really has her heart set on getting a place at Elmhurst. Well done to everyone who had a yes result and sorry to the nos.
  18. The Extended Young Dancers programme, which is for children in year 7 and above I believe is only run from Elmhurst Ballet School itself. Which is so far from where we live a 6 hour round trip. There are no other centres for this age group. My DD is a Young Dancer in year 6 it’s a brilliant scheme I have been so impressed and the progress she has made since joining is phenomenal. She absolutely loves it. I don’t think applications have opened yet.
  19. I will be doing the same, Mids places are so hard to get in normal years with only around 5 girls spaces at each centre as the classes are mixed with years 7,8 and 9 being in the same class. We also had a no yesterday, DD was upset but she knows that getting to finals was a massive achievement anyway. Well done to all the Yes and Wait List results and sorry to all the nos. Xxxx
  20. Congratulations I feel quite emotional for you all we have all been through this audition process together and everyone has been so lovely and supportive. Well done to all the boys for getting to finals everyone should be so proud of yourselves xxxx
  21. It’s amazing achievement well done to your DS a friend of ours a boy got a place from the WL last year so don’t give up hope!
  22. We loved it too, Elmhurst has been my DD first choice since the start of this process. Good luck to everyone waiting for results xxxx
  23. Good luck to all the boys awaiting results. Fingers crossed 🤞 you will hear tomorrow x
  24. We went in and out of the Richmond Gate, it did say in the email that someone would let us out and in the sheen entrance once the park had closed but no one was there not sure if we were early or late so we just turned around and went out the Richmond Gate. Good luck to everyone auditioning over the weekend. My DD was the last audition today and had the most amazing time. It really is a magical place.
  25. Oh no I did think it was the travel lodge that my hubby had booked that cancelled they moved us to the Twickenham one instead, mine was cancelled last Monday! Two days after booking. That’s so bad they didn’t let you know.
