Thank you Tutu girl, you were a great source of information last year too. Glad you are still here. (Off to look up Moorland)

Ah yes I remember now. Yes dd wanted to try again. I’m remembering the stress - she is obviously remembering the fun of staying in a hotel and having a nice extra ballet lessons 😂

Hi Milzman 👋 nice to see you again. Are you trying for yr 8 places?

I know a boy who got a straight No from Hammond - but an MDA to Elmhurst! So no you can’t really tell what they want 🤔. Equally my dd got finals at all three that we applied to last year but no funding 😕. Do be prepared guys. It was all much harder than I expected. I think it’s actually easier emotionally *not* to go around the schools first. X

Hi Asta. which schools is it you have finals / offers for? I haven’t hear of Moorland, but then I was new to the dance world last year. Best depends entirely upon the child, but In terms of International reputation then Royal and Elmhurst are the major players. Tring and Hammond do Dance rather than Ballet so a bit different. I think - and this is my personal opinion only - that if you have a child who thrives under pressure RB is better than Elmhurst, but I wouldn’t pick RB over Elmhurst for a child who needs more encouragement or reassurance. Tring is excellent and academic too, but if you have a child who just loves to dance and wants that to play a major part in their education without any pressure then maybe The Hammond would suit. If you would be paying for Tring it maybe worth securing your place there (which doesn’t stop you being considered for an award), rather than crossing your fingers for a place somewhere else and potentially finding Tring full. That said I think this year will be something of a ‘buyers market’ for people paying fees. I hope that helps x (are you trying for year 8?)

There were loads when my dd did it last year. Maybe 40? ? They were in groups and I can’t quite remember now. Later I heard they only had 4 or 5 MDA to give out - i had assumed more. Dd had a lovely time though.

That was very well put thank you. Gymnastics is the same but starts so much younger! I think the lesson for us all is to go in with your eyes open - and talk to your kids with the assumption that these issues are there, not wait for them to raise them.

Any year 8 wannabes had results yet please?

I hadn’t thought of it that way. You’re quite right. I need to stop being so negative!

Did Everyone get a personal comment about some aspect of the solo performance ? 🤔

Hi Everyone. I’m afraid many many people get callbacks and to attend the funding audition you have to *register* for a place at the school and pay a fee of about £150 I think. Sorry if I’m the barer of bad news.

Good call probably. My dd hates zoom dance. Just couldn’t get on with it so I wouldn’t want to pay in full and then have it all go online. We just revert to Plan B then Milzmam and go with the lottery win.

I guess the latest to withdraw is just not paying the first terms fees a week before term starts or whatever it said on those initial registration papers. X No, we won’t be going
