  1. Oh no I’m so sorry to hear this, have you asked them about the possibility of a home test, I’m sure someone said they had said they were okay as long as they gave an official result? x
  2. Has everybody received their interview times this morning? x
  3. Yes, our hotel is booked so here’s hoping dates don’t change! 🤞🏻🩰
  4. I think the restrictions refer only to travel and stays for leisure purposes? I don’t know if this audition would come under education and therefore travelling and an overnight stay would be acceptable?! Who knows! 😂 Perhaps Royal would have to get some clarification on it. I really hope they don’t push the dates back further. I’d almost rather a Zoom final than that! 😭 I feel like the kids need a good time period to adjust to the idea of moving away and the further that dates get pushed back the harder that will be for them (and us!) When I emailed the registrar said that the deadline was mid this week so we would probably get more information by the very end of this week or early next week. Here’s hoping!
  5. And she has just as much a chance as any of the children who are JA’s! Lots of luck to her! 🤞🏻🩰
  6. Yes, the phone call is the standard JA ‘parents evening’ haha, where the teacher chats about your child’s progress. Our JA teacher has always been great. They report on the children’s progress back to RBS every year I believe, so it’s not specifically done with WL applications/auditions in mind, but our JA teacher definitely was preparing them when we spoke. I think if they had any queries about a child who was applying to WL that was already a JA then it would just make sense to look at that information or request it from their JA teacher.
  7. I asked DS’s JA teacher during his ‘parents evening’ call and she said she had compiled a report for RBS on his progress, so the information is available to the panel on those who are JA’s but that she thought they would mostly go on the videos.
  8. Newcastle also have MA sessions for boys I think it’s SA’s that’s only London?
  9. His visit wasn’t in relation to WL auditions, he just came for a visit. I believe it was very late 2019 he came to our centre. But some children who were there then are now in Y6 and are through to finals, so he will have seen them before. Whether he remembers them is a different matter entirely, ha! x
  10. Mark Annear has visited our JA centre at least once, it might actually have been twice, last academic year, so has definitely seen some of the children who have got through to finals already.
  11. RBS have emailed me back and confirmed all boys will now be Friday 12th if that helps anyone x
  12. I’ve sent an email asking about dates and times this morning so if they get back to me I will pop it on here too x
  13. I think you could be onto something with that! That would be the best option surely? x
  14. No, of course not and if you are unable to source a test then of course you’d have to contact RBS and tell them and ask what they suggest. What I’m saying is I think as so many are struggling to obtain a test and informing RBS of this they will have little option but to move the finals online as there’ll be no point holding in person finals with a very small number of children surely. I agree with you about the on site testing completely, hopefully that is what they will come back with as a last resort but I think if that’s too difficult for them to manage due to staffing issues/time etc then they will likely just move them online.
  15. Absolutely and it’s such a shame. They have already missed so much and this is such a big opportunity for them.
  16. Of course and I totally accept what you’re saying but I’m not sure there’s another solution except a Zoom final. I think if everybody is struggling to source tests and is contacting WL about it then the final will likely be moved to Zoom anyway just to avoid the stresses. Which will be gutting for the kids. I would rather DS were able to go and visit the school and actually see the place where he is applying to.
  17. I can’t imagine that the other schools will take kids to finals without a negative test either unfortunately. Neither Hammond, Tring or Elmhurst have released all the final details for theirs yet, I’m thinking we will probably have similar issues with them all. I think it’s just the way of things now. Doesn’t make it any less complex for parents to navigate though!
  18. Do you know what I absolutely think the same, especially if your child is already a JA, they will have seen enough of them to know if they want them or not. I suppose the only issue is the physio assessment really for the ones who didn’t have this as a JA or are not JA’s.
  19. So now definitely the 12th? I’ve emailed this morning to ask about when we will find out dates and times too. I really hope you can all find a solution to the testing. I re-read the email earlier and it did just seem to suggest that if you can’t get a test you have to decline the audition and they’ll find an alternative means to see those children which will be so disappointing for them! I can see it from both sides as RBS’s hands will be tied too.
  20. This is the information on our council’s online booking system so every area is different. To those who are struggling with a test perhaps RBS will offer the option of testing on the day as a last resort if you call to ask? For us it’s a 5 hour drive to WL so much better for us to take his test beforehand rather than face a ten hour round trip plus overnight hotel costs etc for him to end up not being allowed to audition.
  21. No, our council are running the mass testing scheme for all residents irrespective of key worker status so he definitely is eligible to be tested. The only stipulation is that being under 16 he needs to have an adult present with him, and obviously I will be there on the day.
  22. Thanks for all the information guys and for posting your experiences it’s so helpful. I’ve booked my DS’s Covid test for the 10th but do have the option of moving it to the 11th if we need to. I think I’m going to email RBS tomorrow just to see if they have a rough idea of when we will know their timeslots so that we can arrange childcare etc for other children and overnight stays etc x
  23. Brilliant! Congratulations to your DD! So sorry for all the not yet’s but as Melly’s story shows things can and do change and a not yet now is definitely not a no in the future x
  24. My DS wasn’t a YD but was offered a place two years in a row for Y5 and Y6 but the timings just didn’t work out for us unfortunately in conjunction with JA’s.
  25. My DS did these workshops this morning too they were fab weren’t they!
