  1. As this run hasn’t yet opened I’d politely suggest that you were putting the cart before the horse. Who knows what performances might happen over the next 2 weeks… amongst others Franceso Gabriele Frola is scheduled to debut as Albrecht, Emma Hawes was a standout Odette/Odile this time last year, Sangeun Lee and Gareth Haw are new to ENB etc etc etc
  2. MANON CAST CHANGE Dear We hope you are looking forward to seeing Manonat the Royal Opera House. Please be aware that the following cast changes have been made: 19 January, 7.30pm: Ryoichi Hirano is replaced by Luca Acri as Lescaut. 2 March, 7pm and 8 March, 7.30pm: Akane Takada is replaced by Francesca Hayward as Manon.
  3. And perhaps to either “discount” closer to the actual date or have “flash sales”
  4. TodayTix has listed the above productions for certain dates. However, these are currently not discounted. In fact the ticket prices are higher than if booked directly with the ROH. e.g. Manon 23rd February O/S M10: ROH price £140 vs TodayTix price £161, O/S V12: ROH Price £120 vs TodayTix Price £138. Amphi A46: ROH Price £99 vs TodayTix Price £114 e.g. Carmen 5th April O/S K13 ROH Price £245 vs TodayTix Price £282
  5. Casting is online for these performances. e.g.: 15 FEBRUARY 2024 THURSDAY, 7PM NEW WORKS MAIN STAGE GUIDANCE: Content guidance available soon SHOW LESS CAST BOUNDLESS (GEMMA BOND) Yasmine Naghdi, Ryoichi Hirano and dancers of The Royal Ballet NEW JOSHUA JUNKER Liam Boswell, Francisco Serrano and dancers of The Royal Ballet TWINKLE (JESSICA LANG) Fumi Kaneko, William Bracewell and dancers of The Royal Ballet FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH (MTHUTHUZELI NOVEMBER) Mayara Magri, Leo Dixon, Hannah Grennell, Isabel Lubach and dancers of The Royal Ballet
  6. IIRC there was a post a while back saying that due to someone connected to the production (Lady Macmillan perhaps?) having input on who dances, and, therefore needing to see rehearsals before decisions are finalised, casting announcements would not be made when booking opened.
  7. as I say, the same ROH confirmation screen also gives me the option to add the date/event to my diary which could be useful if an issue arises which, to date hasn't, if this screen pops up confirming my purchase. I am in agreement with everyone's frustration and I'm not an IT person but I'm not sure this is a glitch rather a reflection of the volume of traffic on the website. in my world, systems that update in real-time are few and far between, not even my bank ("payments may take up to 2 hours to appear on your account" or credit cards do that, and even systems that update in realtime slow down when there is added volume such as when booking opens.) this may be contentious but it surely can't help if users have multiple browsers open and/or multiple screens open? again, I'm not an IT person but perhaps that would slow down any system?
  8. I'm not defending the system in any way but would flag up that I've had more than one email in advance of booking periods since the pandemic saying that confirmation emails can be delayed on busy booking days (this happens for other theatres e.g. NT, Almeida and ticket booking sites e.g. Ticketmaster too) and also there may be a time lag in updating the "Your Tickets" section in 'My Account'. my experience is that if the payment screen is followed by a confirmation of purchase screen then I have secured my tickets.
  9. @Dawnstar my beef is with ENB & X. your postings are very much appreciated and if what I wrote came across as insensitive it wasn’t meant to be. my apologies. my own personal experience of X is that therein lies much madness. and, as such, my comment was tongue in cheek relating to my own experience not that of others. these days i usually put in brackets that a comment is tongue in cheek so as not to cause offence unwittingly but forgot to do so on this occasion. I’ve fed back to ENB this evening my thoughts on X as a primary means of communication. Perhaps something will come of it, perhaps not. i can feed back that Frola had a successful run through this afternoon so it augers well for Friday.
  10. I'm booked to go on 17th, but have yet to receive any casting update. Grrrr I do wish that ENB would realise that X is a niche communication channel and that it can't be regarded as a means of communication with the sane world at large.
  11. might it be the ‘Swan Lake’ effect? the ballet everyone wants to see?
  12. If you click on 'Get Tickets", you can search by town or postcode. screenings seem to be nationwide with additional ones in Scotland on February 8th too.
  13. DNB’s Giselle with Olga Smirnova & Jacopo Tissi is being screened on January 21st and February 1st. www.giselleballetcinema.com https://www.giselleballetcinema.com/synopsis/?
  14. be it a slip on stage or page, to err is human, to forgive divine. am very much looking forward to this production and applaud everyone involved in making it happen.
  15. Gary Avis has posted on IG that he will dance Monsieur GM in Manon as follows: 17th, 19th Jan 3rd mat, 7th, 14th, 17th mat February 2nd, 8th March
  16. Run time: 2 hours 15 minutes, including a 20 minute interval. The Coliseum is ready to welcome you 75 minutes prior to the performance, with bars open on every floor. Please note: The Coliseum is a cashless venue
  17. i wonder who as one might have presumed that an alternative cast is being rehearsed at the same time.
  18. Precious Adam’s IG post says others are saying goodbye to the production too.
  19. Not at all, I was just summarising what has been stated elsewhere. If Precious Adams IG post is correct, ENB has retired its Nutcracker. Therefore I am right to wonder if a new production will be ready for the end of this year. Yes Nutcrackers are money spinners so one would hope a new ENB production is on the way in time for the end of 2024. I personally find it hard to believe that the RB would not stage its annual money spinner yet, on another BCF thread, several members have suggested/stated that the RB will dance another production rather than its Nutcracker at the end of 2024. Tickets are already onsale for the BRB Nutcracker at the RAH. NB brought it’s Nutcracker as close as Woking in 2022 (we delighted in it) but came nowhere close to London in 2023. So, yes, a Nutcracker shortage at the end of 2024 is possible.
  20. The cat is out…. I wonder will a new production be ready for December 2024? And, if BCF suggestions turn out to be true there’s to be no RB Nutcracker at the end of this year. So, unless NB brings its Nutcracker to London, a bit of a Nutcracker shortage threatens the capital next festive season with currently only BRB confirmed at the Royal Albert Hall.
  21. I just managed to watch this before it goes offline. Thank you so much for the link. How refreshing to see a recent new piece of work properly lit to display the dancers and the choreography in such a way that it complements their talents and shows them to their best advantage. McGregor could & should learn from this. The Hamlet section choreography had echos of McGregor’s Inferno from Dante Project and made me think how much better the latter would perhaps have been received if it had been better lit. Hamlet and The Tempest worked best for me. The combination and interweaving of classical and modern dance vocabularies illustrates that it is not necessary to throw away the ‘old’ in order to bring in ‘the new’. The talents and stage charisma of Shale Wagman and Antonio Casalinho are exceptional. I may save up to travel to see them live. R&J didn’t have the same impact and would perhaps be better enjoyed live. I found both the singers and the singing distracting and definitely wouldn’t have had them centre stage with a solo was being danced. Very pleased to have been able to watch this.
  22. And the overall enthusiasm for modern pieces extends beyond their opening nights, not just for McGregor but also for example . Such enthusiasm as is shown by the audience for classical is equally evident amongst the demographic that modern appeals to. Any opening night audience be it classical or modern is likely to be partisan and invitees chosen carefully. This is commonplace and doesn’t equate to ‘match fixing’.
  23. @Fonty I totally agree with you on this point. Friday’s partial standing ovation in the orchestra stalls at the ROH was motivated by a half dozen or so ‘Vadreamers’ in the front row jumping to their feet even before the curtain rose on the dancers. Whilst not without its hiccups and loose ends, it had been overall a beautiful performance by the Company but did it merit a standing ovation? Not in my book.
  24. Playing Devil’s advocate here as I have no particular ax to grind, can I flag up that McGregor’s works (both Woolf Works & Dante Project, and to a lesser extent Untitled) were hugely acclaimed in the ROH auditorium last year garnering standing ovations at several performances. Nuñez’s performance in Woolf Works was lauded both on BCF and at the Stage Door and I suspect that if Muntagirov danced McGregor that the Stage Door & Floral St would be similarly filled with enthusiastic fans and ‘Vadreamers’ as it was on Friday.
