Vocational school applications for Y7 entry 2022
Pointeshoesarethedream replied to BalletBoysDad's topic in Doing Dance
Iām so pleased youāve posted this. Iām also a parent of a year 5 currently fretting about what autumn will bring so Iāll be following this with interest. -
I didnāt get a confirmation email. It just stayed on the website if I remember correctly. As I wondered if it had sent ok.
-
Oh thatās fab. Sorry for being so nosy but did you approach them for help? We havenāt actually met Emma due to lockdown but would love to ask her advice.
-
@Whiteduvetwhen you say BB had a big part to play in gaining a full time vocational place, do you mean just the associate classes in general or did you contact them for specific advice in relation to your DD and her aspirations?
-
Youāre very welcome, I hope you hear soon. The lower mids class have been asked to bring in pointe shoes and soft blochs if they have them (DD is very jealous she doesnāt have either yet) but havenāt used them yet.

Hello DD is in BB in Hull. She really enjoys it. We submitted an audition video last year and heard within a few weeks although a friend heard much sooner. We were told of a place but didnāt hear about which class until after the audition deadline. I think from the deadline it was about a week and the current associates heard about their classes a couple of days before. The classes are on ability I think but age also plays a part. DD is in lower mids and is in yr 5 at school and the class has a mix of year 5, 6 and 7 with some already on pointe. DD has a year 6 friend in upper mid. The lower mid class is 2hrs 45 mins long and they donāt get a break as such, I think juniors is 2hrs 15. The class compliments her regular classes and other associates. DD does more advanced stuff in BB than she does in her exam classes but with her current teacher itās not as back to basic technique focussed as her other associate class. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Sadly even when you do get back to the studio I think youāll be too far from me so please donāt stop doing zoom š -
New Zoom repertoire class for Adults

Itās an absolutely brilliant class. I love that itās repeated each week and we can really improve. I love the zoom element too as I can really throw myself into it without being worried about others watching. I was definitely on the stage in my tutu today š. Although I would absolutely love to take one of your classes in the studio @Laetitia -

A question for the parents of older dancers
Pointeshoesarethedream replied to SarahG1881's topic in Doing Dance
Thank you all. Sorry my post wasnāt intended to dismiss what you had all so kindly offered in way of your experiences. Iāve read all of these with interest and it really does give food for thought and youāre right itās all about what may or may not suit an individual. Reading the posts I may have incorrectly tried to tie all bad experiences to one place and my observation I think was based on a āwhat if we choose the wrong one or more along the lines of what if I choose the one where all these individuals didnāt have great experiencesā which is wrong I know. Itās both a very exciting and very scary time.- 52 replies

A question for the parents of older dancers
Pointeshoesarethedream replied to SarahG1881's topic in Doing Dance
What worries me when reading these posts from the point of view of a parent with a child about to embark on this journey, the institutions that you have all very sadly had bad experiences at remain anonymous so how do us new parents know which to enter with caution?- 52 replies

We had an offer of a place this morning but need to fill in the bursary application š.
-
Itās published in their annual report usually. If you google RBS annual report it will give a link to them. 2018/19 is the latest one published I think.
-
No as DD does JAs on a Sat and although it is less than 100 miles from us itās quite a long drive time wise to Moorland. The pre vocational is a long shot at the moment and an absolute no go without funding but it seemed that we wouldnāt know where we stood unless we applied.
-
Thank you. And well done again to your DD x
-
Yes thatās a good idea. X
-
Maybe theyāre doing a year per day so they might get to us?
-
Pre vocational course (year 6). Iām not sure yet weāve done right by applying but DD was keen to have a go and now Iām desperate to know whether she has a chance.
-
Thank you for your reply. Sorry you didnāt get anything @Flower am I correct you were waiting for year 8? . Iām wondering if theyāve forgotten us as it seems most other results are out (Yr7, 8, associates and summer!).
-
Is it only me still waiting? š How long do I leave it until I ask if all results have been sent out?
