@Dizzyballetmum thank you so much for your post. It’s really helpful to have a first hand account and your post did that (and brought a tear to my eye) you must be so proud of your daughter. We’ve got another year before we start auditions and DDs dream could change by then but I’ve always felt that we’d have a go and see what happens. Chances of getting in are tiny we both know that and it could only last a year, we know that too, but if we can approach it with one year is better than none if that is where her heart lies then we’ll be ok. I want to approach it with joy rather than worry that I could send my DD into an un nurturing world where she would be unhappy. Don’t get me wrong. I know the world isn’t perfect and I don’t look through rose tinted glasses but your post has provided me with reassurance that’s it’s ok to want this for my DD if it is her dream.

Some of these posts make really worrying reading to new parents that are about to enter into the audition cycle in a year or two for their children that have a dream! Reading these posts worries me that it would be the wrong thing to do to even entertain the idea of auditioning for any vocational school, but surely it must work for some? Is it really that bad?

Oh my goodness @Crazylifecrazykids what do you need to do in the video? Is that because they’re not holding normal prelims due to Covid? I’m glad we’ve got another year before we worry about that! Good luck.

That’s helpful as the emails two of us seem to have received are confusing, but I suppose it’s how we’ve phrased the question. Our photos are currently without socks so will leave them as they are.

I emailed and got the following: Should your daughter wish to wear socks then short socks will be absolutely fine. Bare legs and ballet shoes are required???

We have gone with JA uniform @GabrielleDeV although, like you I don’t know if it will help or hinder?

Are you sorted now @Crazylifecrazykids? We did photos at the weekend and then when I was sorting the application realised we did the arabesque on an angle rather than side view so going to have to do them again next sat. I’ve just sent an email to check re socks for girls as it says no tights but doesn’t say anything about socks for girls but it does for boys. We did without socks but as we have to re do some I thought I may as well ask. Does anyone know how many places there are for age 10-12 group? I read that there are 28 girls per year but not sure if it really means per year or per group (I.e 10-12). I was thinking about the possible number of beds as there are 12 y7 & 12y8, (girls) beds potentially so would this cover perhaps 24 spaces for girls age 10-12, I.e years 5-7?

Update: It’s a system error that they are fixing today and the closing date is 26th October. They’re going to update the website with the closing date info.

She’s 10 so old enough for both I thought? But I’ll ring them this week. I still don’t know when the closing date is so I’ll check that too.

They won’t. It’s really not clear. From reading your post I went into select general applicant and can now answer the additional dancing questions but it still doesn’t give me any courses to select so I can’t get any further.

I’ve just re read your post. Can you go back in with your application code? Maybe you can add photos at that stage?

Something very strange. I still can’t get past the course selection page so thought I’d try in my laptop. The RBS website doesn’t seem to have an apply now area??? It looks different from the usual website. Plus RBS usually email out when applications open????

I can’t find anything on the course selection part (not that I have DDs photos sorted yet!) but I thought I’d test it, so I can’t get any further. Also when it says are they * general applicant * RBS Student * Direct entry Do you think RBS student applies to associates?

I think they only have so many places and will take the children they want without trying to fill specific year 4/5 places. You’ll drive yourself crazy trying to make sense of it. I know I did last year 😁.

I just want to wish everyone good luck with their auditions. Fingers crossed for you all. About the split of classes. At DDs centre there are 2 classes. One for year 6 and one for year 4/5. Last year 10 year 4s got places and I think there were about 10 year 5s in the class. All those year 5s will now be yr 6 and they’ll have added to that (I’m not sure how many were in the year 6 class). And DD and her 9 year 4 class mates will now be Yr5 leaving approx 10 places to fill with a mix of year 4 and 5. Obviously London will be very different as they have more classes and I don’t know what the other regional centres are like but I hope this helps. Best of luck everyone.
