  1. I have had to get lipstick off from a few and this usually works. Use a dry cleaning fluid followed by white vinegar. Put a dry clean cloth under the stain and dab rather than rub to prevent spreading. However if the stain is old the dye may be quite set. Good luck!
  2. In response to a number of points above. I am sure doing additional dance hours at the grade above or associates or holiday intensives will impact on overall ability but getting a good mark for the actual graded exam will depend on the actual work on the syllabus for the grade either with the teacher in class/1:1 or independently at home. That said our DCs will all work in their own way and a motivated dancer will pull out the stops to achieve the dream so anything is possible.
  3. The RAD give guidelines for recommended hours of study and for G5 it is Guided Learning Hours 75 and Practice Hours 20 giving notional learning hours of 95. This is very much an average but it will give you some idea. The suggestion from Princessballerina is a good one - I tried to download the App without success so may try again myself. I understand that the DVDs are also good. I agree that it is good to have something to be aiming for and as you don't need to commit to doing the exam for a few months I would just see how it goes. Good luck to her.
  4. Sorry if this is not in the right area of the Forum to post this but I thought it was worth sharing. We are all on the Forum because of our involvement in ballet in some way or other: teacher, mum, dancer. I found this article to be truly inspirational especially at this time of year when we awaiting the outcomes of auditions for our able bodied dancers it puts our trials and tribulations and successes and knockback's into perspective. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/humankind/2017/01/17/not-being-able-walk-her-own-dancing-ballerina/96633118/
  5. I might have miss read but I thought Masters was two weeks without a one week option.
  6. Thanks TooTu. The last week of Ballet West four weeks of SS is the same as RBS second week and would work as alternative but we couldn't make any of the earlier weeks. Thanks for suggesting OPES - their middle week might work for us. I agree that residential is best if you can afford it and for me I would need some type of holiday activity anyway so might as well be dance as DD has outgrown most other holiday clubs she used to attend. Masters of Ballet looks good - slight clash of dates but worth looking at - just hope the video audition doesn't put us off and also although DD is doing G6 she is not yet on pointe. Deep breath - it is only January - I don't have time to think summer! Good luck with whatever your DD does.
  7. Thanks TooTu - all sorted and confirmation received - I have just been back to check e-mail! We have been looking at alternatives as the chances of an offer are so slim. I was surprise to see that many summer schools are so early - before DD has finished. Are they aimed at those at vocational school who have already broken up for the summer? I am looking for something to give DD something different but those I have seen that fit our dates only ask for a few years ballet experience and I am worried that they wont "challenge" - I don't like using that word but can't think how else to describe what we are looking for.
  8. All fine balletbean - so pleased the web site allows you to go back to the application. No it's not a Lloyds card - I think it was an RBS web site issue. Now we just have to wait for the outcome.
  9. We had a similar problem and just went back in the next day and all was fine. If not give them a call they are really helpful.
  10. I always take a passport - didn't have DDs once and we were okay going but returning, same airline, I was asked for it - now I just do it automatically.
  11. Does anyone know if they will do any further London dates? The last ones sold out quickly.
  12. Tring associates is not a ballet associates programme but they do have graded ballet classes, technical ballet and pointe classes. They do evenings and Saturdays and essentially run as a dance school would so should you decide to leave your current school they could provide a range of dance styles in addition to ballet. I understand that some of the teachers also teach in the main school so I would think that must say something about the quality of the teaching but perhaps others can comment on this.
  13. Thanks for the feedback junedancer - DD is going to the Giselle one in January and is looking forward to it but having read the comments I was worried she might not enjoy it - feeling relieved!
  14. Sorry dancer344 and Pictures I edited my post - thought I might have violated Forum policy with too much detail and in the end actually asked a different question. Your advice on this has been helpful.
  15. Sounds like your DD is progressing well now that she has changed schools MuddledMama.
  16. What grade would you expect to start IF dancer344? MuddledMama, can I ask how old your DD was?
  17. Would you advise doing two different graded classes if you are also doing vocational or is this too much?
  18. This is the same rationale as the charitable status so yes this will be case.
  19. Thanks Janet - I just couldn't resist the challenge by Pups_mum! On a more serious note if an organisation has charitable status, such as the RBS, Elmhurst, Tring Park, YDA, NYB, etc there are tax benefits. To maintain that status they have to show that they are supporting students from difference backgrounds and abilities which they will do through their scholarship schemes. This is also one of the reasons for vocational school forms asking about SENS - yes they provide support but also it makes it easier for them to prepare statistics to back up their charitable status.
  20. Pole dancer and cage fighter - both require physical skill and those at the top of the profession could be relatively high earners! Is that wicked enough for you Pups_mum? (With apologies out there to all of you who are, or whose partners, are in those professions - nothing wrong with them.
