  1. When I asked them about returning one they said this wasn't possible because of the print in the back making it a customised item...not sure it makes sense and maybe you will have more luck with it
  2. Apparently they won't accept returns...I asked when I ordered the leotard as I was thinking of ordering 2 sizes to save on postage. My daughter is 136cm tall and I ordered size 2. It isn't ideal but isn't that big either...although there is room for her to grow.
  3. MoreExcited and Balletmum55, thank you for the useful tip, will be ordering one today.
  4. Does anyone know where I can purchase a Royal Ballet School holdall?
  5. They are not exactly flattering are they?? Go ours today but haven't had a chance to try them on yet..
  6. Just filled in the form and ordered the leotard. No information on the sizes so ordered size 2 which is the size of her normal leotard...I will be wearing a pixie outfit...only joking...:)
  7. Lottie77 and Littlebear, are both your DDs in JA1? We could have coffee together after the introductory talk? I will be filling in the online form tomorrow, is it long? How do I submit the passport size photos?
  8. Littlebear, I received the info pack email at 4.15pm but have only just seen it. Have you?
  9. Congratulations, hope a place comes up very soon!
  10. Ah yes, all the worrying was for nothing How did your dd get on?
  11. I definitely will do if I hear back Littlebear. Have just tried calling them but went through to voice mail. Looking forward to meeting you too.
  12. I have been wondering the same for Eastleigh as the audition was before Bath. I have just emailed them to ask but not sore if they will respond.
  13. Yes same here. Need to plan the rest of the weekends so quite keen to find out what time the classes are...Very exciting indeed!
  14. Not related but has anyone with a yes from Eastleigh received their info pack yet?
  15. Thank you all for the helpful replies! We live in Berkshire so it would mean quite some travel on the train. Also, my dd is a Tring Park Associate (Y4) and the classes are on Sundays so I am not sure that it would work for us at all...
  16. Reading through different threads I have come across auditions for both London Children's Ballet and English Youth Ballet. Could someone please help me understand what the difference is between the two?
  17. Talking of Greek - my daughter got a gold for her classical Greek solo and on the feedback form it says "lovely choton and good poise in 3rd". I have talked to her teacher and asked her to help me understand what that means but she wasn't sure herself. All she could think was that the adjudicator meant "chiton" which appears to be a style of classical Greek dress...I also found in the Greek syllabus on the ISTD site a reference to "10 Chiton positions with 6 walks". Does anyone know what the Chiton positions are?
  18. Thank you Pups_mum! Very interesting reflections and I totally agree with you. It is sometimes easy to get carried away by a desire to improve and get better. I should just make sure she is relaxed and enjoys the experience as much as possible. Her teacher tells me it is mostly a thing of confidence with her. But I also know that she got a mark of 81 at her RAD grade 1 exam whereas another child got 88. That's why I thought that it is also her technique that needs to improve but it is so hard to know the right balance between urging her to improve and putting her off dancing...
  19. My dd is 8 years old and has danced at festivals for the last 2 years. She tends to do well - she is often placed in the top 3 or 4 dancers with on average between 84 and 86 marks (commended) but she has never received Distinction (87 or 88) for any of her solos whereas some of the other girls in the same age received a mark of 88 at the last festival. She has qualified 7 dances for the All England dance festival in May. Any tips on how to help her move her up 1 or 2 marks so she has a chance at the All England Regionals to get through to the Finals? Also, does anyone know what adjudicator Janet Palmer usually looks for? They all seem to emphasize different things, some find arms very important whereas others look for musicality and artistry??
  20. Just found this thread on festivals. My dd is dancing at the Tilehurst festival in March and I was wondering if anyone knows what the adjudicator Janet Palmer usually looks for. Is it predominantly technicality, musicality or artistry/ability to perform and characterise?
  21. Hello, I am new to this group. How do I find out the locations for the Elmhurst JA classes? I don't seem to be able to find anything on their website? We live in Berkshire, where would the closest centre be?
  22. Wow Lou78, she must be one very talented young lady - to have been offered places in both RBS JAs and Elmhurst!
  23. I feel upset about this too. It feels wrong in my stomach that my daughter is denied the chance to expand her training beyond her regular ballet classes. I am not thinking of stopping her regular classes anyway, quite the opposite - I would like to expand her horizons and opportunities to learn more and be amongst other talented children. But I have now mentioned it twice and can tell that I am not going anywhere with it. My only option would be to leave the school which I wouldn't want to do to my daughter. She is settled and doing well and I wouldn't want to upset this balance for her own sake.
