  1. Wishing all of those waiting for Elmhurst results good luck. Just wanted to share a bit of news too. My DD has just accepted an offer to join YDA in September in Yr 7. We only started on this mad journey around last May when she was encouraged by her local dance teacher to look at broader opportunities in dance. We'd missed most of the Associate auditions but she was lucky enough to join YDA as an Associate in September. She absolutely loves the school and the teachers, as do I. I am so thrilled that she is achieving her dream of going to dance school and will be a fully fledged vocational student come September!! I could not have even imagined this happening a year ago. This forum has been a fantastic source of knowledge and advice and I am sure will continue to be so.
  2. Yes, we're in the same position. All the JAs auditioned that we know all got yeses.
  3. DD is going to the Tring Easter Dance course and boarding for the first time!
  4. Congrats to your DD Atacrossroads. 1st May is Junior Associates Finals and 8th is Main Cast Final (12+ I believe).
  5. Big congrats to DD Amos. YDA is a lovely school. A great way to go into tomorrow. Good luck to all.
  6. Yes, just a ballet class, about 45 mins. It looked like quite a mix of ages in DDs group.
  7. Congrats to your daughter Amos73. And good luck to DD at her remaining finals. Hope to hear good news soon.
  8. Yes, DD went to the 11am class. She enjoyed it and it was a lovely ballet class. I don't think that she got any real insight into improving audition technique which I thought was the intended purpose of these sessions. The blurb on the website also said that the kids would get individual pointers on areas that they should work on and she did not feel that she got these. I guess it's a challenge when you have around 30 kids for one hour. Overall, whilst a great experience, I was a bit disappointed that the intended outcomes were not really met at least for my DD.
  9. Congrats to your DD Southerndancemum. I'm sure that she will be excited!
  10. I cannot claim to be an expert, but I understand that there are a lot of vocational students given that the rehearsals and performances are in the summer holidays. DD and I went to the Gala last year and there were certainly lots of participating vocational schools listed in the programme including Central, Elmhurst, Legat, Northern, Rambert, Hammond, Tring and YDA. DD was quite star struck when we went to the Tring open day and she recognised some of the older students who had lead roles in the NYB show!! Given that we've not been directly involved, I couldn't comment on the ratios of vocational to non-vocational but I'm sure that others can!
  11. Congrats to your DD pas_de_chat on both counts! Very exciting but such a long time to wait now!! Hope others still waiting get good news in today's post.
  12. Thanks so much for the info DancingDays. The timing makes more sense now.
  13. Agree Southerndancemum. It does seem like a long time to be there. As I understood it, there is only one JA dance. Does that mean that some of the JAs are considered for parts in other pieces at the JA audition day?? Surely the audition for one piece won't be 3.5 hours?! The letter does say that they must be PREPARED to stay until 1 pm.
  14. Thanks Mumofaboy. Trying to pre-empt the questions that I'll get from DD at pick up time!! Hope the audition on 14th goes well for your DS.
  15. Just wondering if anyone knows roughly how many Juniors go to NYB Finals and of those how many get places?
  16. We were 10am too. It is a standard letter with name and audition number hand written at the top. JA recall is 9.30am-1pm on Sun 1st Mat at ENBS. It says that casting is a complex process so there will be some waiting around on the day!!! Keeping fingers crossed for your DD and everyone else waiting.
  17. Thanks Southerndancemum. This is our first experience of NYB and so impressed so far. I also thought that it would be end of week earliest so was quite shocked. I would also be desperate to get home if I were in your position. I suppose this is the downside of doing results by letter rather than email, though it does take away the need to constantly refresh the inbox!!
  18. My DD auditioned on Sunday too for a JA place. I was amazed when the postman just dropped off the letter saying that she has been recalled for finals on 1st May!!! I was not expecting such a speedy response, so impressed with NYB! DD will be thrilled when she gets home from school. A shame that it's such a long wait for finals. Anyone else with news yet? Fingers crossed for you all.
  19. Good luck to all those auditioning. Look forward to hearing how it goes.
  20. My DD auditioned for CBA on Sunday in Group 2 which looked like 9/10 year olds. I know that there are often questions about splits or no splits at these auditions and understood from what I have read on the forum that Tring CBA don't do them, just froggies. On Sunday DD's group WAS asked to do left, right and box slits as part of the flexibility check. Not sure if this is down to the age of the girls or a change in approach now that there is a new head of CBA? Did all groups do this? Luckily DD is quite flexible so was quite pleased that they did splits!! She really enjoyed the class and teaching and loves Tring so fingers crossed. Now anxiously awaiting results! They said within 2 weeks but I understand that it is often quicker.
  21. Congratulations to those with a yes. We look forward to seeing your lucky and talented DCs in the show. DD found the whole experience very positive and know that she has done so well to get this far. I am very proud of her. Good to hear that others have had success in subsequent years as DD is keen to try again next year!
  22. Yes! What time do you think a phone call would be appropriate?? I believe the office closes at 5pm. Assume nobody has heard?
  23. I am assuming that online applicants will hear by email. Still waiting.... This is torture.
