  1. DD auditioned but hasn't heard anything yet. Some her friends heard about callbacks via email on Tuesday, so she now believes she wasn't successful, but we haven't been told either way. It's her final year as an RBS MA so she was really hoping to do something special with her MA friends that have callbacks, and she's questioning now whether she's good enough for full time auditions this year, which she desperately wants to do. I know she'll snap out of that though, she's too determined to be down for too long. I've also seen there are auditions advertised on eventbrite for this coming Sunday, with a deadline of today....? Not sure whether they didn't have enough audition last week so are trying again, but DD is tempted to go again to have a second chance and show BRB how much she wants this.
  2. Wow, that's fab she got a place! DD will have 2 weeks off classes over Christmas, and I know she'll continue with her strengthening during that period. I did speak with DD earlier and she'd like to go for a Nov date so not all the auditions she plans to take are in Jan.
  3. You can ask for a certain date if there's one you'd prefer (and if there is space). If you haven't asked for a date, they will allocate you one. The audition day will have a number of sessions throughout the day split by school years.
  4. The last time she auditioned for full time was Jan 2016. She does attend the extended programme there on Saturdays.
  5. After having a year off the audition circuit for DD to focus on training in multiple styles, she is now more determined than ever to progress down the ballet route and we're preparing for auditions for year 10 entry. As always, there are a number of audition dates for Elmhurst (2 in Nov, 2 in Jan) and I'm torn which to go for. A friend has recommended Nov to 'get it out of the way', and her DD was previously successful with her Nov audition, but then Jan would give DD another 2 months worth of training. I know it shouldn't make any difference, but with this being DDs last chance until 6th form, I'm keen to make the right decision. What are other's experiences?
  6. Olympia was a better venue, although I agree the food options are better at Excel. I don't think I'll be going next year, one of the classes I went to had already started...they were 2 counts of 8 into a routine when I turned up 1 min before the class was meant to start. This also happened to a friend of mine in another class. People have paid for these classes and the timetable should be stuck to, it was very unprofessional! 2 other classes I went to were great, but I found the instructor in the 4th very rude. I also didn't like the studios being so enclosed this year, you had to plead with the people on the 'door' to be able to sit in and watch a friend take a class. It was a much more chilled environment when the studios were more open. We did have a good day out, but it did not meet our expectations when compared to previous years.
  7. Good luck with Tring and Hammond Lema. I will keep my eye out for news!
  8. The mail dragon has awoken!! We were Birmingham last Weds, so less than a week for our results! No WL Y8 finals for my DD this year. Sad having made both Elmhurst and WL finals last year. Thankfully, she's already an MA, so we don't have to worry about that. In a way, I'm relieved because I'm never 100% sure if I want her to go away before 16, and we can relax now....until next year! Good luck to everyone else, I enjoy reading your journeys.
  9. Jennyboydance - last year at Elmhurst finals, the parents are given a timeslot for a tour, so you will get to see everything again, including one of the boarding houses too. All the current children leave good luck messages (as those auditioning will have their own tour too), it is very lovely. Last year they did say one parent per child though, which is different to WL where both are allowed. It's a shame because I feel both parents need to see it so they can make an informed decision if they are offered a place.
  10. I've been a few times and there is lots of room for you to have a good view of the main stage. I'd imagine it'll be the same this year, however, it's a new venue this year (which I'm gutted about as it'll be an extra hour travelling and far more complicated a journey!), so I can't say 100%, but I would like to think they have changed for the better (although technically there wasn't anything wrong with Olympia).
  11. Wow! Only 4...we won't be holding our breath then, haha!
  12. We were there for y7 girls - audition Friday; results Monday. Good luck!
  13. It's the same for y7. Audition on the Friday, results on the Monday. Good luck!
  14. Oh yes, Lema, the interview! I forgot about that bit!
  15. Aw, that's great she had such a fab attitude! I think my DD will be ok. Yes, we will never know! Good luck with your funding auditions Lema, and for RB news. Congrats principito! We were there for year 7 finals last year, and it is a long day, not necessarily until 6pm though. So, there's a welcome talk to everyone, then the DC disappear, parents have more talk followed by a tour of the school, and then can go off site and return later in the day. Lots of beautiful places to explore, my husband and I had a fab day. For the DC, they will have a written exercise to do (does not impact results!), audition class, see a physio and have their own tour. Some are asked to stay back and be seen again (my DD was one last year, so we always like to say she was a maybe!). It will be a fab day for you all. Enjoy!
  16. It's hard isn't it Lema. And I thought she looked so elegant when watching the end of the prelim, but we would drive ourselves insane if we tried to analyse it so much. I'm not looking forward to telling her. Although it's not like she's miserable at Secondary, she's really settled and has some great friends there. How did your DD take the news?
  17. No Elmhurst finals for my DD this year. We knew year 8 would be tough, I just hope it doesn't knock her after she made it last year. Still RB to hear from, but that was only Thurs, so won't hear for a while. Fortunately, she's an RB MA already, something I'm extremely thankful for amid any no's.
  18. Congrats glissade!! Think there were just under 40 last year, so your DD should be very proud of herself. The finals are a fab day, enjoy every minute, and good luck!
  19. I've just looked back at last year's emails and, for us, it took 12 days to hear back from preliminary RB audition.
  20. That's a 50% (at least) success rate so far....!
  21. Sorry to hear that Lema. Hope your DD has taken the news ok.
  22. Congratulations snowflake and dancefanatic! Fantastic and exciting news!!
  23. We're still waiting from Elmhurst, audition was last Thurs, so hoping to hear tomorrow. Yes, Birmingham RBS is tomorrow, we will be there, and they normally take couple of weeks for results I think.
