  1. So the Y7 girls letters are out, and it's another no for my DD. Really hoping she won't be too disappointed. Thankful she has a school disco tonight....a welcomed distraction.
  2. That's great news farawaydancer, they clearly liked your DS. Alas, no girls letters yet, maybe tomorrow....
  3. Wow, congrats, what a wonderful position to be in! I wonder if the Y7 girls letters are also out....I'm at work so won't find out until 5pm.
  4. I know exactly how you feel balletqueen. We were also at White Lodge for finals and DD was part of the call back. My hubby was convinced she was in! We're waiting on results from Elmhurst finals too...I even worked from home today thinking it might be in today's post, but alas no. I still get confused about the few spaces in MAs...if the classes are by year group, surely there must be a full Y7 class to fill, so it makes me think that the classes can't be split. Baffled!
  5. Why are there only 1 or 2 places? Do MAs not have classes split by age group, e.g. Year 7 class? And there is more than 1 location where MAs take place. I'm so confused by it all!
  6. Well DD has had a fab day, and is so pleased with how things went. 7-10 days to wait now, so long in comparison to RBS!
  7. That's everything out ready for tomorrow. Good luck to all the DC auditioning. And to us parents, let's hope the wait isn't too long afterwards....dreading that bit already!
  8. I replied to the WL results email on Monday to ask when we would know MA results and was told by the Easter break.
  9. That must make for an admissions nightmare if WL girls go and are offered Elmhurst too...lots of non-acceptances and offers to others I guess. Well, this time next week it'll all be over and in the hands of the panel, eek!
  10. Thanks picturesinthefirelight. Like happymum, I'm interested if anyone knows how many year 7 girls are likely to be in Elmhurst final? Is it 40, like WL? I assume there'll be slightly less now, as some would have received their WL offers.
  11. It might be a silly question....but what is meant by 'eligible' for MDS? Is it based on earning under a particular threshold / talent / combination of both?
  12. Congrats Twoballerinas! I now know of 2 in the call back that are a yes, and 2 who are on the waiting list....wow, my DD was so close!
  13. Haha, enjoy your evening waitingmum...a fun way to celebrate! Good luck tomorrow happymum!
  14. Thankfully I couldn't have asked for a better reaction from my DD. She's looking onwards to Elmhurst already, and planning on trying again next year if that doesn't happen! She has such a great attitude and determination, such a relief.
  15. Fantastic news waitingmum! Many congratulations!!
  16. That's one hell of a story Juliet! Our results are now in....it's a no for my DD. Onwards though, and focus now turns to Elmhurst on the 17th. Good luck to everyone else.
  17. Good to have a distraction. Good luck to your DD in her exam!
  18. Yes, good luck to everyone! I never thought I would be this stressed about it, the waiting makes me feel sick, and I do wonder whether the call back has made it worse, because we know they are SO close (which, of course, is a positive also). Is everyone else wondering whether they're all at WL this morning discussing the final decisions...or maybe they made all the decisions last Friday...are all the emails drafted ready for somebody to say 'send'! Argh, it's too much, haha! Fingers crossed it'll be soon. xx
  19. So sad to hear she was upset. It was such a big day, so much anxiety, emotionally draining. My DD was part of the call back which stresses me completely, because I feel she's not a definite yes, but then at least she's not a definite no either. She came out so happy, and thoroughly enjoyed her day. I can't ask for anymore than that, so what will be will be. We were already in the mindset that she has achieved so much already in getting to the finals, and now gone one step further with a call back...regardless of what that means, we know it means they liked her no matter what the outcome. I hope your DD is feeling better today, not nice to hear of anyone being upset. Fingers crossed we all find out quickly (anyone else manically refreshing their inbox already, even though it is very unlikely we will find out until next week?!).
  20. We've done the same balletqueen, pre-warned her. We will try everything we can though. My email about the preliminary audition time said MA results would be out in March after all the auditions had taken place. That's all the knowledge I have on that, and we were pre-warned at audition that there would only be a few.
  21. Hi. I am so glad I found this forum! I am new on here and have so many questions I'm hoping somebody can help me with. My dd has been an Elmhurst associate since year 4. We have mixed views about her going away in year 7, but felt we should give it a go, for both experience and to also see how she would do. These feelings are also felt by my dd, which I am pleased about, she knows what a wonderful opportunity it would be should she be successful in securing a place, but she also has a wonderful dance life at home and lots of opportunities for her to progress. As we were applying for Elmhurst, we thought we'd 'give it a go' with RBS MA/WL auditions also. I am so proud to say she is in the final auditions for both! She never stops practising, so these results are a massive credit to her determination. It's very exciting! And so to my questions......how many dancers (typically) make it through to final auditions, for both Elmhurst and RBS? I know how big a success this is, but I would love to know more around the statistics, to be able to truly see what an achievement she has accomplished. I'm also curious to know how scholarships and MDSs are assigned. I am keen to know whether such schemes are presented on income, or the talent of the child (I ask because we have been asked to submit income details to Elmhurst). The fees do concern me a great deal, and I think my biggest stress is not with being unsuccessful, as I know she will take it well, but it's with being offered a place and us not being able to fund it. I hope this isn't too sensitive a topic, I am sure there are many other families out there thinking the same!
