  1. Oh Happymum what a shame!! I hope your dd is ok ???? and best of luck for her in her audition xx
  2. Thanks sarahw, it's only the back end of a virus but has left her feeling very drained and still has a sore throat so we dosed her up on paracetamol, made sure she had a good breakfast and plenty to drink before we went. She said she thinks she done ok but was quite down when she came out, not like her at all ???? anyway what will be will be. Now just that nerve wrecking 10 day wait to contend with lol
  3. Just got back from Elmhurst Audition, the staff were all very friendly and accommodating, we had a talk from the head and deputy head and were then taken on a tour of the school and finally took in to watch the last 10 mins of the audition. Unfortunatly my daughter is poorly at the moment and also forgot her belt so feeling a bit negative about how she done, but I've told her that these things happen (miscommunication between myself and DD as to who had packed what) and that germs don't care whether you have an important audition or not, but all that said She enjoyed the class although said that they had to keep stopping when people came in to talk to the panel but other than that she said the work was simple and fun and everyone was very friendly. Here's wishing the best of luck to everyone with auditions still to come!!
  4. Wow thanks spannerandpony I will look them up!! ????
  5. Thank you dramascientist I'm still getting to grips with all the terms and names of things lol x
  6. My dd teacher told us they are just for a reference after the audition when the Panel are considering candidates, easier to remember if you have their photo in front of you, but this is just what teacher said and I don't know whether true or not but it makes sense to me x
  7. Yes everyone gets an audition and just double check that when you are looking at the photo requirements that you are definately looking at the same age groups requirements each time, easy mistake to make in the midst of filling in forms ???? good luck xx
  8. Very excited to have received the invitation email with times and information about the audition, but this has just proved my lack of ballet knowledge, it list things that are going to be looked at in the audition and what the class will consist of...barre work, flexibility exercises etc and at the end it says allegro, please could someone tell me what allegro means?? I have never heard it before?? Sorry if asking a silly question but I keep warning everyone I am a complete novice lol ????
  9. http://www.royalballetschool.org.uk/training/summer-school/photograph-requirements/ These are the photo requirements, and as long as your application is in by the deadline you will get an audition, hope I've been of some help ????
  10. Good point taxi4ballet, I suppose there are a number of reasons, I just thought they wouldn't need the photos if the cool was infront of them but all you said makes sense really!! ????
  11. Oh gosh pas de chat that sounds horrible....plus starting to wish I'd sent in better photos!! I was told not to worry they are only for reference to help remember a childs face after auditions. Why would they be scrutinising them during the audition when the child is infront of them?? ????
  12. Wow congratulations on your daughter already having a place! And it's nice to know there are even more options for 16+ My dd is only 11 so not quite there yet ???? thanks for the info though Miracle x
  13. 8 schools i didnt even know there WAS 8 schools!!! Just shows what a novis i am!! Wow wouldnt fancy filling out 8 forms lol x
  14. Google Ménière's disease that's quite a common cause of dizziness and tinnitus and is more common in women and I'm sure that if affects 30-60 year olds mosly so might be worth a look on the Nhs website
  15. Illnesses that cause dizziness with diet so worth googling it to see if there is anything on the list of foods known to affect dizziness and see if there is anything on there that you eat a lot of, I know red wine, chocolate, cured meats and blue cheeses are on the list xx
  16. Hi Thequays, I have suffered from dizzy spells for aprox 9 years now and I would definetly recommend you go back to your GP as there are a number of very different conditions that can cause dizziness and you will never really know unless you attend a balance clinic where they can do a vast number of different tests to find a cause. As I said I have suffered for 9 years and over that time I have been misdiagnosed a number of times first I got...it's just vertigo, then I was told it was probably my eyes, next it was BPPVD and finally I was told it could be a swelling in the brain!! But after being referred to the balance clinic and undergoing numerous tests such as a MRI scan, blood tests, vision and hearing tests and balance organ tests they finally found that I suffer with a rare type of migraine that affects your balance centre and causes the dizziness called vestibular migraine. It's not like a headache migraine and you can't take tablets once it comes on but you can take tablets to prevent them from coming on, I chose to take nothing as the medication was an antidepressant in a milder dose but still can be just as addictive and have similar side effects but I was just glad to know what was wrong with me!! Also you can manage a lot
  17. Yes I will do, either that or I'll grab the assistant and ask her to help. I don't think anyone else from our school will be applying, I was the only one to do associates, we are not really a ballet school to be fair x
  18. Very exciting!! I haven't even applied anywhere yet or took photos ???? need to get a wriggle on I think!!
  19. Ok thank you so much for the advice as I have always just took them at home!! Luckily we do have a plain wall to take them in front of...just can never pin down dd's teacher to help!
  20. With regards to photos is it ok for photos just taken at home? Thanks xx
  21. This might sound a bit of a silly one but to me those little thin snag free rubber bands for my daughters hair have been a god send....she has the finest hair imaginable and all the bobbles I have tried when doing plaits are way too big and I have to wrap them round what feels like 100 times and then they look ridiculous with these dainty little plaits and then this chunk of bobble at the end, so when a very helpful lady in a shop pointed these out to me I was overjoyed!! They are now a staple in our dance bag ????
  22. Not sure if this will work?? Here's a link to the photo requirements - http://www.royalballetschool.org.uk/training/summer-school/photograph-requirements/
  23. Ahh that's great thank you for your help, I'm sure I could have googled it but I knew someone on the forum would be able to advise me thanks again x
  24. Hi everyone, Just wondered if anyone could advise me here?! A friend if mine has a child that has just sat the 11+ for entry into grammer school and has been advised to put the grammer school down as her first choice when sending in the forms for secondary school application, so I just wondered if this applies for vocational schools also? As she was told if you don't select the grammer school for your first choice and the child is offered a place that they won't be able to go? Thank you in advance for any advice offered ????
