  1. Email has just come through! So... if you don't get a "recall" at the end of the finals does that mean it's a no? Or does that mean they just might want to see odd ones again if they weren't sure?
  2. Thanks Janet, sorry for going off topic! Back on topic.... DD just got RCS finals. So pleased.
  3. No Haggis, not heard anything. Still need to book our travel home which is going to cost a fortune if they leave it much later to let us know.
  4. Well I'm a total idiot because I encouraged DD to take Art and also DT (Textiles)!! She is having to stay after school to catch up on work and tonight BOTH teachers wanted her to stay behind at the same time!
  5. Now add into the dance/academics mix a boyfriend and you have the recipe for a complete breakdown.... and that's just from the mother!!
  6. Thanks Aileen. I think everything else is fine. She just had a nightmare with a science teacher (who is now being sacked but sadly too late for most of this year group that she has already hindered!) which has affected grades but everything else is on track thankfully. Definitely didn't appreciate the amount of artwork involved in the GCSE Art no, I don't think they really made it clear at options either or we would have rethought then. It's not worth withdrawing as she is pretty secure in getting a C I think so that's better than nothing. If she works harder she can get that B hopefully. She's already done two other exams and passed those and has a place at a science/maths 6th form if the ballet doesn't work out so we are trying to just go with the flow and not stress over anything too much. Will chat with her tonight and order some more workbooks and whatever else she things will help, good idea thanks.
  7. My message crossed with yours taxi4ballet so didn't see it. Feel relieved she is not the only one suffering (don't mean that how it sounds... I don't want anyone to suffer!! I just mean glad to see it only a human reaction and so she shouldn't feel she is failing in any way) but not sure how to support her really. She's very good at art but is a very slow worker (like me!!) so this is where the problem is I think. Have told her to get anything in her book which is better than nothing and worry about the quality later if she finds time to re-do any of it!! Thought art was an easy option!
  8. Yes. For some reason I was thinking the exams all started after the dance finals and didn't realise she actually had an exam this month. She has never really needed my guidance so I've always just left her to it and feel bad she hasn't shared how she was feeling about things. She did used to spend hours doing her art work at home and have now realised I haven't seen her doing this for a while but stupidly assumed all the exam work had to be done in school hours and kept there so didn't question it. Have decided there will be a full two weeks of no dancing at Easter and asked her dance teacher to postpone her RAD exam so she can forget about that for now too. I, like you, thought she would just get herself organised and get on with it. I think perhaps if she thinks she is secure in getting a B/C grade she has just switched her attentions to the subjects where she is more worried about results. Long talks needed tonight and a bit less worrying about final auditions!
  9. I honestly can't believe we have another month of finals yet. Have had a call from DD's school about how worried they are with her motivation slipping right before the GCSE exams (Art at the end of this month). I don't know why they do them so early and don't leave them until June to do anyway. I said she is so tired from travelling and the emotional stress of the auditions I'm not surprised she has switched off. She now has a detention (when she hasn't actually done anything wrong other than just not keeping up with the amount of stuff they expect to see in her art workbook) and after school catch up three nights a week. Wish I could do it for her but instead I have to tell her to get on with it and give her a kick up the butt!
  10. Phew, us too. We did six. Now got to do it all again for finals!!
  11. I think these leotards would work perfectly as a tutu base: http://www.justballet.co.uk/shop/ladies/so-danca-white-leotard-suitable-for-costume/
  12. DD also loved it and it's been a perfect kind of "top up" to her training at the right time with regards to auditions. We also want a break at Easter for GCSE revision! Yes, it was split into two groups of those auditioning now and then the younger ones in separate group. She also loved that there was such a mix of people from all over and enjoyed meeting the Australian girls who she said were amazing!
  13. I didn't think there was an audition today? Otherwise why were some people changed to next week and not others? Next week has been changed from contemporary to jazz.
  14. How funny (or maybe not so funny for you!) chaperone! Great news. Well done to her!!
  15. Regattah - yes we have those same dates. Mon 2nd March for open day and either 28th/29th for finals. They haven't confirmed the final date yet but I think they are also auditioning international students over that weekend too.
  16. DD seems to think they only introduced the fouettes recently.
  17. We've heard about the 16 fouettes too! DD is going to try and practice at class next week, she's never really tried them... but I can't see they will expect them to do too much that they haven't even been taught yet. As long as they show determination and have a go rather than crumbling into tears I'm sure it will be fine!
  18. Still on 28th but times have changed from 9.15 or whatever it was to 2pm finishing at 5.45pm. Also changed from YDA to Danceworks just off Oxford Street.
  19. Congrats Anaballerina!! Well done. Anyone doing RCS on 28th? They've changed the details yet again. I'm not sure I can actually be bothered to change my travel arrangements yet again and lose more money and feel like cancelling it.
  20. It says that the audition will be an hour and a half (so again not sure why they are saying 9.15am - 2.30pm) and will include pointe work in addition to everything else. There was an attachment to download that came with the email with a bit more info in it as to what they are looking for etc. If you don't have it I can forward it to you if you message me your email.
  21. It's not too difficult. You want a tube that gets you to either Shepherd's Bush or Shepherd's Bush Market. Last time we went we got off and then just followed a girl with a bun from the tube station!!
  22. SBallerina... what a nightmare... hope you managed to change all your travel arrangements ok without losing too much money. I wondered if you logged in to the Cukas application if it gave dates on there but it doesn't it just says "audition pending". Just checked my emails and it definitely said she had been added to the list for 21st as that's the date I asked for but then when the confirmation with all the details had come through it says 28th, I just hadn't noticed that!!
  23. DD has a yes for finals for RB. Really didn't expect it and we are over the moon to have got this far.
  24. Oh that explains things to me too then. I thought I was going mad as had written down 21st Feb for RCS from initial contact info and even booked trains (she is there anyway so no problem) but then checked email last night and saw it said 28th! Good job I checked it!
