  1. Selective by photo application i think, as i did my photos in a rush last year to get them in before the deadline so they weren't very good; I didnt get in :-( x
  2. Good luck to your dd Discouraged, hope she enjoys it! :-) x
  3. Just wondering, how come you have a definite Ballet West 6th firm place already if youre only in year 10? x
  4. Huge congrats to your granddaughter Vonrothbart- even if she isnt lucky enough to get a place this time, getting to Finals is a wonderful achievement; hope she has a fab day at the audition!
  5. Hi all, I am studying 'Rosas' as part of my GCSE Dance coursework, and would love to see a live performance of it. Does anyone know of anywhere, preferably near Leicestershire or Birmingham, that it is being performed? Thanks
  6. There is a huge blue van that always parks outside my mum's house- mum finds it very annoying as we have 2 cars, so often end up parking one across the road!! Grr...

oh yes Tulip, i love Miss Saigon!!
  8. aww tutucute22, so sorry to hear that :-( i know she must. be so upset at the minute, but there really will be other opportunities- i've learnt now that RBS isnt the be-all-and-end-all!! There's always next year too, you never know! xx
  9. It said that on my No letters last year & the year before... Huge congrats to your dds/ds Spax, Plie & Theodore, good luck to everyone still waiting!
  10. Just wondering, is it pretty unheard of for a British non-vocational/ not RBS Associate dancer to get a place on this course??
  11. Lol, after my parents divorced, on a Friday (when we were with dad) my younger sister always went to school with her hair in three pigtails because dad couldn't quite manage to get it into two! bless him
  12. I think I was about 11- I have always been very perfectionist, and so I decided that poor Mum's desperate bun attempts just weren't good enough, so had to do it myself!!
  13. I was thinking the same thing!! Although, if I remember rightly, didn't Darcey Bussell enter the Prix when she was at RBS upper school?
  14. Thank you, that makes more sense. So am I correct in thinking that a 'beat' is a movement in which the calves come apart, to a very narrow 2nd position, before returning to 5th? (thus explaining how it is possible to 'beat back-front'- say the right foot is behind in 5th, one beat is already done in midair before the feet change?) Apologies if that's about as clear as mud!!!
  15. haha i remember the agony well from last year! in a way i think the waiting is nicer than knowing if it's a 'No', because you can still daydream anout how lovely a place would be, as opposed to knowing it's a definite 'No'! Good luck to everyone waiting, hope you get good news soon!!
  16. Can anyone please explain to me, in batterie/petit allegro steps, what is meant by 'beating' the feet? Is a beat the same thing as an entrechat quatre? And is an entrechat six the same as a changement battu? Really confused over what it actually means when a teacher says 'beat back-front' etc, and didnt want to disturb class by asking her to explain! Thanks :-)
  17. Aw that's a shame pointytoes22, best of luck for your other auditions though, i'm sure you'll do very well xxx And congrats to your dd Swe!
  18. aww that's such a shame, hope you're ok Shimmer!!
  19. Haha you beat me to it, Lil! Good luck all, might see some of you there; feel free to say hi, (Im the one in long sleeved leotard with a white flower hairgrip- we sometimes get to join in the audition class if we're not needed in rehearsal!) x
  20. Oh and for something slightly lighter, 'The Ballet Companion', by Eliza Gaynor Minden
  21. Lone Wolf, the new Jodi Piccoult novel. It's amazing- very 'deep' and thought provoking!!
  22. Meant to say- I wouldnt recommend the Madeline Wickham novels for a 13 year old, although older teens/adults might find them enjoyable.
