  1. aww Afab, how lovely! Big congrats to your dd, hope she has an amazing time at Elmhurst :-) xx
  2. Hiya! I took grade 5 after a year, but I will have studied Grade 6 for 18months by the time I do the exam. But Intermediate at my dance school is studied for 2-3 years before taking it. Hope this helps
  3. i think its a car indicator light that doesnt work properly, so the driver just abruptly turns a corner without indicating- i may be wrong??
  4. aww bless, so glad to hear she is doing well xxx
  5. Aw Florence im so sorry to hear that your dd didnt get in this time- I know how that feels!! Hope she is okay, there will be other opportunities xxxx
  6. Just curious but how does anyone else's dd cope with the stress of auditions?! According to my mum, I tend to be very agitated, tense and stroppy, particularly when waiting for results. It really irritates her when I am tetchy for no apparent reason (apart from the invisible "I wonder if i'll get in.. Don't be silly- why would they want you?.... Did i get in or not..." war that rages in my mind; I silently drive myself crazy procrastinating over the possibility of a Yes or No) so any tips on how to avoid driving parents mad with the tension, and/ or making how stressful i find it a bit less obvious??
  7. aw, thank you Justballet- and you're exactly right about my poor, gnawed nails!! Thank you, Taximom, I will look into that. I think I will apply for the Mtb one Lil in case I dont get in to Ballet Theatre Uk xxx

  11. oh right; thankyou :-) Amythyst, did you go to see Ballet Theatre Uk on Sunday?? If so, it was me who was chatting to your dd before the show :-) xx
  12. wow, I am genuinely touched by the friendship and support I have recieved from this forum, thank you all so much, it means a lot to me. Hi, Kat09, I had looked on the Northern Ballet website, but couldnt seem to find much information about the summer school. When is it, and are there auditions/a closing date? Sophie :-) x
  13. aw, thank you lots, Pastel!! Hope your dd's have a great time at their summer schools!! xx
  14. aw, Fiz and Tulip, thank you so much I really don't know what i'd do without all the kindness I have received from this forum... It has occurred to me that if I can't get in to a summer school, then surely I've got no chance of getting in to a 6th form school when the competition is so incredibly fierce, but I am determined to just keep trying; this time next year I will probably have to accept that I'm never going to dance professionally so i'm going to enjoy aiming for my dream whilst I can xxx
  15. thankyou very much Lil! Yes, there is an audition, which I'm glad about, because it gives me something to aspire to! (and also because they will actually see me dance, instead of having to choose from photos!!) x
  16. pointytoes22, i have applied for YBSS and Ballet Theatre UK xx
  17. Thank you so much for all your support and kindness- I am truly grateful for it. Hope all your lucky dd's have a wonderful time at Elmhurst x
  18. it was a 'No'. but thankyou so much everyone for all the advice :-(
  19. Ah good idea Taxi!! I'll do that if Ive not heard by Monday! Thank you x
  20. Aw the waiting is horrendous!! x
  21. The ybs results arent out until mid May (they emailed me to say they'd recieved my application) But i get the impression that most Ybss applicants get places. So sorry to sound patronising- but did your Yes email from Elmhurst come today, or yesterday?! (ive not heard yet so am wondering wether they send the Yesses out in one batch as emails then the Nos later as letters?!) x
  22. aw thank you! i appreciate it after the agonising wait for the Elmhurst result! And if i get on the waiting list- that means even more waiting!!! i'm so impatient haha!
