Poor chap, speedy recovery Chipdog. Too hot for walks, good excuse to rest in cool room.

They evidently love dormer windows as an access point into loft space but will chomp through plaster board according to council pest control. Not much fun laying in bed wondering if you can hear the hum of the nest above you. @2dancersmum fascinating photo. Did they disperse?

And as my Dd says actors have Equity, musicians have a union. In fact most workers have a body to protect their rights in some way. Dancers are out there alone with no support.- 52 replies

Oh no we’ve suffered that on more than one occasion. First time I called pest control he scared me to death by asking if they had eaten through the plasterboard.

Few years since we received a dance report from them so this may have changed 🤞 The first assessment on the list was ‘physique/proportion’ marked out of 5. Further down the list you find musicality, artistry, use of turnout etc @Alwaysdriving that is very sad and worrying to hear.- 52 replies

If the students were in a closed room with only one teacher seeing them day in day out maybe the six times per year weigh in would make more sense. The very nature of Elmhurst means most studios have large windows, during every class there are other dance staff, pastoral and medical centre staff milling around and watching. And does it matter what the staff decide to call it or the students to that matter. An eating disorder is an eating disorder and needs professional help.- 52 replies

I’ve been thinking about this all day since watching the clip earlier. Why if they are promoting body image are they still weighing the students 6 times a year? And why are they still doing it as a class group ‘quickly’ unless the student has anxieties about their weight when they then get the special treatment of a private weigh in? They see these young adults day in day out in leotards they can surely judge if they are a suitable weight without putting them on scales? For the last decade they’ve been doing the six weights per year so maybe nothing has changed after all.- 52 replies

Taken them long enough to say they are proactive. They tried to be blind to eating disorders during my Dd time and even removed the guidelines from the parent portal. I hope the staff have been educated as their comments tend to be the route of the problem.- 52 replies

They’ll spray you on admission and then you mustn’t breath again until you leave the venue 😉

This year we’ve got a lot of peacock butterflies in the garden. We usually have lots of red admirals but this year they are outnumbered by the peacocks. Scruffy robin still around. Whatever is wrong with him isn’t impacting on his appetite, singing or flying. -
Does anyone know of any ( non dance) student funding?

But isn’t he entitled to the maintenance grant aspect too? The part he doesn’t need to pay back. If household income below ~£41000 in NI you should be offered this when other student finance offer completed. It’s sliding scale so lower income means more grant. Loan repayable, grant not. -

Have you spoken to the finance office at the university to see if there are any individual bursaries or other means of support for Sean’s course? Did he get anything beyond his maintenance loan? Was he entitled to a maintenance grant on top? -

I think it must be an infestation that isn’t bothering him at all. He’s a typical active robin and feeding frequently. Saw him from above for first time today, his back looks like he’s collected sparrow feathers and added them to his own. He is so scruffy. -

Excuse poor photo but managed to catch this little robin on phone. I’m hoping you can see the mass of scruffy feathers at base of back. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all and has been like it for weeks. But out of interest has anyone seen anything like it before? -
Is it hard to get into the Royal Conservatory of Scotland? 2020

They will be looking for specific attributes in their students. They expect their students at the end of the course to be industry ready. I think your question is difficult to answer. None of the schools are ‘easy’ to get into but if they like what they see at audition then it’s a whole lot easier than if they don’t. -
Was that during the filming? I watched some of that when Dd was on a course in Covent Garden and I was filling time.

That is sad news. Condolences to James Bowen.

Our pheasant has moved next door. Neighbours have reopened their chicken coop after settling new chickens in and he’s joined them. Cat enjoying garden again. Still not heard a cuckoo or seen starlings back. House martins have returned and busy repairing nest, not sure where they’re getting mud from as ground so dry. Son counted 6 buzzards on a short drive home other day. They’ve been increasing in numbers but that is a record. 20 years ago they were so rare around these parts that when we first spotted one we thought it had escaped from local birds of prey centre. -
Sadly in my role (not teaching) I meet parents who share a phone and often don’t have credit. In my location internet is very poor either via copper wire or via radio waves so I’m not sure how my kids would have coped if needed to study.
